  1. Hi, I've had quite a few BSOD's the past week, at the moment all the BSOD's minidumps points to ALCXWDM.SYS which is the sound driver for Realtek AC97 codec. All the games I've tried seems to give me BSOD when I enable EAX. Is anybody else having the same troubles? I've (almost) ruled out that it could be faulty memory or pagefile problems. I'm thinking that it could be power-related problem, but I'm doubtful This is my system specifications: CPU: Intel Pentium 4 Processor 640, 3.20GHz, 800Mhz FSB, 775Socket, 2MB L2 Cache, Boxed Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-8N-SLI Quad Royale nForce4 Intel Edition Graphics card: Gainward NVidia GeForce 7600GT Sound card: On-board Realtek AC97 RAM: 2x Kingston 512MB at 667Mhz Hard drive: Seagate 160GB SATA DVD Drive: LG Power Supply: Can't remember what brand, 400W nonetheless Operating System: Windows XP Pro SP2, nLite:very little tweaks and no important components removed, RyanVM UpdatePack 2.05 Driver Versions: Latest graphics, chipset etc. DOWNGRADED to audio driver version 5.10.0.5940 after having the problems. I don't know if the newer drivers was the cause for the BSOD's.
  2. Are you getting a Gateway error or does the site fail to load due to a javascript error? Either way, try connecting via a proxy: http://www.publicproxyservers.com/ is a good place to start looking.
  3. Be a little more precise... like, details perhaps?
  4. Ok found a good site with loadsa proxy servers to try : http://www.publicproxyservers.com/ I'm using 69.182.171.102:80 and I can get in now. **** this is NICE!! I owe u tim! I'm using the first proxy I found for South Africa, and it is working beautifully!!
  5. I'm not infected with any spyware or malware or anything. I've checked with my ISP and they basicly told me there's nothing they can do for me. I'm thinking of changing ISP... Somewhere my IP or ISP got blacklisted. I'll get back to you about the proxy, it seems it is my last resort. Thanks everyone for your help!!
  6. yup... I've even disabled my firewall. I'll try a few other things, it could be my ISP. I've been having a few other problems lately but thought it unlikely to be related.
  7. I'm still unable to access driverpacks.net I have hard refreshed the page, used CCleaner to clean the cache and even tried to access it using a clean installation, still getting the 504 Gateway Timeout message: The following error occurred: A gateway timeout occurred. The server is unreachable. Retry the request. Anybody still getting this?
  8. Excellent- let me know if I can help. I have an idea which I didn't explain that well in my original post.
  9. Maybe some of the programmers surfing the forums should start working on an alternative way of updating the local driverpacks (ie downloaded driverpacks) 7z is an opensource fileformat and if Bashrat's or someone's webspace can keep track of ALL the drivers included in a specific driverpack, I think we'll be able to write a client driverpacks updater that only download and update the needed/outdated/missing drivers and compress it in the needed pack. This is an elegant and (complex) solution for downloading the whole driverpack when an update is released. If it makes sense to anybody reading the forum, or if anybody see a use in this, post it here... Sorry about the topic title... I meant to post Driverpack Update Client. The title is kinda misleading...

    Vista-ize?

Search around the web for a few screenshots of the latest build, from what I have seen on the screenshots and from personal experience, almost all the icons XPero have changed are given the Vista look-and-feel. For instance the Tools->Internet Options Home Page icons etc. Anyway, Apparently Microsoft originally promised Vectorized Icons. It remains to be seen if that'll happen but I doubt it. Or if they have already stated that it won't appear, I missed that.
  11. UN-fortunately? Be happy Just trying to help the community... Having said that, I am certainly happy that I haven't got any BSOD's
  12. Thanks for this!!! Will try it out and let you know how it works! Unfortunately I hadn't had the BSOD problem like the other. So I can't check for that...
