  1. Everything that is not realy needed. So windowstour, msn explorer, messenger (I use msn, and yahoo messenger) games, the stupid songs , wallpapers, themes (I put my own theme), screensavers, keybord languach that I will never speak. (I just keep French, Dutch and English) There's also one big component (44 Mb I think) that makes you install winXP when you are in XP. (you know, the splash screen when you put your xp cd in your pc while your still in XP) It lets older xp systems upgrade,... It has also the repair feature. But this repair stuf is not so good, and I never update, so I removed it. Also wordpad,... So I removed stuff. And now there is 330 mb still there. But the installation is much faster. 15 to 17 minutes. It will be longer if your harddrive still full, and big. The formatting part takes also time. (and that is not in my 15 minutes ) I never copy to my harddisk. I prefer to keep my install as clean as possible.
  2. And to integrate without thinking you could use Nlite ofcourse. your cd is quite big. I used nlite, and now the windows installation takes only 15 min. So you can speed it up just by removing some components. If they are not there they don't have to be copied to the harddisk during the setup.
  3. Hehe, your English is quite good . I have seen worse, I have seen much worse. Mine is not perfect too. I took your advice and made the template on a virgin machine. (I hope you get what I mean ) Thanks for the advice.
  4. None, I will explain myself. I made *.inf policy file from a working computer here. And on this computer there was vmware installed. So in this *.inf file there are also vmusers. I will show you with this code. [Unicode] Unicode=yes [Version] signature="$CHICAGO$" Revision=1 [Profile Description] Description=Default Security Settings. (Windows Professional) blablabla [Registry Values] SeInteractiveLogonRight = __vmware__,Guest,Administrators,Users,Power Users,Backup Operators SeSecurityPrivilege = Administrators SeSystemEnvironmentPrivilege = Administrators So there you see there is a user vmware. I just woundered if I could leave it there or not. Coz in UA, VMware does not exist yet. But in fact it is not so important . I could as well skip that part I guess. So I wont cry if you don't reply to this small question of me. I will try it myself
  5. Just one more question: I have used vmware. And this user is also in the *.inf file. Won't that give any problems? Coz in UA, this user doesn't exist (yet). Voila that's it.
  6. Guy, am so happy coz it worked. I mean it worked manualy. I removed the guest from the item I spoke about. And then I enabled the guest user. (I always thought that I didn't have to enable the guest user coz on the machine where it worked the guest user wasn't active, but when I looked on the same working machine the guest user was indeed enabled so there must be a difference between beeing enabled and beeing active ) Now I will try to do this unattended. So I only need to put the settings you gave me in the grouppolicy.inf file and aply them in a cmd file. and before I do that I must enable the user also in the cmd file. So I think I can put this in the runonceex.cmd file. Or not. Well I will try and if it doesnt work I will let you know. Rico.JohnnY thank you for helping me out
  7. Ok, I will try that, while i was in that Local security settings page I saw something. In the "User right asigments" >> "Deny acces to this computer from the network" The Guest account was in it. On my other pc where I have run the Network wizard it doesn't has the guest in it. So If I can make a config file like you showed me how to do, then I must know all the settings that the Network wizard changed. But Ok, for now, I will try to turn the Guest account on. (on my pc with the networkwizard on, it has not the Guest account on hmm strange) I will try it anyway and let you know if it worked
  8. Hey, I know that some people allready had this problem and posted here, but the proposed sollutions are not clear for me. I made a nice unattended cd for an xp pro. There is just one small problem. When I want to go on anouther pc on my network it asks the password for the guest account. The username "guest" grayed out, so I cant change it. When I run the Networkwizzard it works fine. (I added a picture of what I see) I read allready a lot of stuf about it. Like that it only occurs when you set UnattendSwitch="yes". But I wounder what makes this Network wizzard so magic? What settings does it change? And would it be possible to make those settings unattended?? Thank you in advance. I hope someone can make time to post a cristal clear answer.
  9. Hey I still have this problem that the shrinker doest copy the files. It is error 1308 like the others had. I have a Dutch Office. I read that I have to change the shrinker.ini file. Hmm, yup am a total noob, coz, where is this file. I realy want to do it, but I need a lil help. Or is there another way. Dont kill me if I didn't read all the post. It's possible that I missed a post in those 54 pages of post. Hopefully someone can help.
  10. hehe, Lazy8 Maybe your nick has smth to do with your paycheck?? (just guessing and joking) Well allready 3 replies Thats realy good for a toppic that nobody reads
  11. Hey, First of all, I wish al the people a verry Happy and Nice New Year. I'm lil late with saying hello to everyone . But I woundered if someone really reads it. So now am testing that . Just to say who I am, if someone wants to know. My name is Jonathan and I live in Belgium. Am 21 and I study now Industrial Ingineer Industrial Design. (Or just designer might do as well) If someone wants to know more let me know. (But I doubt that ) I wish everyone the best and am pleased to be a member of this great forum! Byebye
  12. Had the same problem, but only in VM. So no prob. In "real life" it works just fine.
  13. I still have the same problem like xclaim , but does anybody has an answer? ============================== DEVICE INSTALLER ERROR windows could not load the installer for Battery. Contact your hardware vendor for assistance. ============================== I use an Win XP pro cd with no SP's on it. So I think the first xp cd, nlite tells me it is build 0. I add sp 2 and the hotfixes. (I took the list on this forum, so 36 hotfixes for this moment) When I make an iso of it, it works fine. But then I want to go further and remove components. I use nlite to do this. So i remove win tour, paint, win games, msn explorer. All basic stuff. I leave drivers like they are, so I don't remove any of them. When I install this in VM, I get the same error like Xclam. When I install my old win xp cd in VM I don't get this error. Is there a way to solve this. Can I delete stuff on my own, (so I mean can I remove components like paint on my own?) without Nlite? How? Maybe there is smth on this forum about this, but I didnt found it. If I put my old driver.cab file back would that be a sollution? Or perhaps I could make a winXP sp2 cd and take the driver.cab from this new sp2 cd? When I remove components my driver.cab file remains the same, no files are missing. (I didn't delete anything) I hope that someone can help me. Thank you.
