  1. No, I don't know the sollution yet. it looks weird. I know about the Ryan stuff but I actually never used it. So I don't know what is wrong. Sorry, I can't help you this time. but with many testing you will find out what is giving you this problem. It will take some time. So perhaps you can test it without all the software on it.   2. ahbon, I didn't know you used raid stuff. I don't know much about it. I think it is something to combine 2 harddisks to one. Anyway, I use a portable pc, and my fixed pc has only one harddisk. so,... Good for you that it worked.

  4. Hmm, sorry, I never had this problem. So it can't find the iso. You did not rename it, or put it on a different place. The path to the iso is still the right one?
  5. Hey Nabeel Nono, they don't do the same job. It would be nice if they did but they don't. The first one is the one 84 mb. This one is able to set up a virtual world. And he is also able to run this virtual world. The setup is a whole preparation proces, and it makes soms "special" preparation files on your pc. The second one is 27 mb. It is just the player. So it can only read or run the environment. So the environment has to be made before. With making an environment I mean: creating a virtual system. So just setting harddiskspace, showing the virtual cd player, making a virtual bios system,... I don't mean setting up xp. That is when you RUN the environment (so installing xp is afther the creation fase ). So you normally you are nothing with this player, coz it can only do fase 2. So you would need the 84 mb version to make first such an environment. Then whith the player you would be able to run it and to install win xp with your cd. The link I have send you in a PM, is the way how to create the environment without having the 84mb version. I never did this, but on this site, they show you what to do. Afther creating it, you can run it with your Player (27mb thing) and thats it. I don't know if it is complex to build this world manual, I have seen that you also have to download some small tools. But I think that you will have to download less then 84 mb. It is possible that by using this way all your efforts will lead to nothing. So it is up to you. Greetz, Jonathan B)

  7. Hehe, Thank you for those nice words. Sometimes there is too much info in one line of text. I am an Industrial Engineer for Industrial design and I had once a class "how to explain something to someone who doesn't know your product yet". In fact the "designer" knows everything about his product and in his head everything is clear. But for the user it is sometimes the first time that he hears the info. The designer sometimes forgets to tell the user everything (coz in his head everything is clear yet). So the user trows the product or machine away and doesn't use it. The product is good, but the user can't use it. So that is why I am trained to prevent that. (If later I want to design and sell my stuff it must better be good, or I will be a poor guy at the end ) Your answer to the question, To test I use VMware, you have also something from microsoft but it isn't that good. Yup normally you will have to pay for VMware. But I guess you know that there are other ways to get VMware, if you think it is good you can always buy it. Well this is not good. If you use XP, you select XP. (The makers of VMware know what they do ) Alternatives for n-lite. Hmm, I don't really know. I always use Nlite. Nlite is a tool that has the most features to change. Perhaps there is something beter, but I don't really think so. I use Nlite to do the basic things like removing components, add some small tweaks (like the visual theme thing), add SP2 and hotfixes, make the install to work unattended (that is in fact just changing the winnt.sif file, so I know where to look if something goes wrong with that). But for example runonceex.cmd, I do it myself. Also other register tweaks, I do them myself. Nlite is really good, but some things you just can't touch them. And if I see that those untouchable things don't work in Nlite then I can't fix them, because I dont know what Nlite did. Then I look on this forum what I did wrong, or if I can't find it I look for a way arround my problem. In fact this is no help, but just how I do things. If you find something more powerfull then Nlite, then let me know. Greetings Jonathan
  8. Hey I'm working with Ez antivirus, it is small, does it's job and updates automatically. But I am looking for smth like switches. I searched on the forum, but I didn't find smth usefull. Is it possible to install this app silently? How? I allready used autoit, but I cant trust this thing, when it looses focus on the app (when someone clicks the mouse during the install, or another app pops up) then weird things happen. Or is there an antivirus similar to Ez (I mean size and flexibility) I'm using for the moment EZantivirus 7.0.7.7 Please let me know, what I can do. Kind regards Jonathan
  9. Iepz, In the way you are doing it it wil never work. I never used this kind of stuff but I know one thing. when you look at alle the files on your cd the most are like this. SHELL32.DL_ the last is gone and is replaced by an underscore. If you will compare the size of the SHELL32.DL_ on your windows CD and the same SHELL32.DLL on your pc. then you will notice that the shell32.DL_ on the cd is much smaller. So what did they do? Well I guess those *.DL_ files are packed and compressed. So if you put an unpacked file on your cd. The installation will notice that. Perhaps the instalation will try to unpack the file. but since the file it isn't packed in the first place the instalation on this file will fail. So you need to find a way to pack it. The things you read above is just a storry about how I interprete things. I don't know if it is right, but I have read some stuff about this on the forum and that makes me 90% sure. As an Engineer I am trained to guess. (and to make right guesses) To pack it: I heard this. It was to change Icons. There are Icon packs you can install in windows. Then the most icons are replaced in the shell32.dll file. So they have to install this pack in windows. Then grab the file and then aply modifype & makecab on it!!! and replace these both files with older one in your unattended windows cd's I386 Directory!! So I think your problem is the same. So you must find the tool which can aply modifype & makecab on it. So look once on the formum for those tools or perhaps commands. Those thing above are just hints for you to move on Greetz Jonathan.
  10. I tried that method before, but it didn't really work out for me. If you realy want to make smth good try to use the runonceex.cmd methode. Perhaps you don't like it very much I dont know. Any way you need to have te right code to call your *.mst file. How do you do that? Well I explained this before on the forum. And I see you have already read that. So you are posting double. (what a sin ) I advise you not to use the nlite methode. It is good, but it is in a way the same of making your own runonceex.cmd file. The file which is made by nlite is perhaps good. But you can't touch it. So try this method.   12. Iepz, well some small hints, to call the utitlity with the code : cdswitch LABEL D: you must put the tool in the folder: \$OEM$\$$\system32 on your cd. But you can call it from anywhere, but you must be sure that your path is right. Example %CDROM%\cdswitch\cdswitch.exe LABEL D:. You want to split your cd in two parts so you could put this command on the begining of your runonceex.cmd afther this line it will ask the second cd. Afther the line you put all the other switches. I guess that cdswitch LABEL %CDROM% will work too. You can test your runonceex.cmd in a virtual machine (how to set it up look in the guide @ http://unattended.msfn.org/) You can start runonceex.cmd by double clicking on your runonceex.cmd and then run this also: rundll32.exe iernonce.dll,RunOnceExProcess you can find the run tool in the startpannel of windows. (but I guess you know that allready) The method is fast coz else you will write 100 cd's There is also a help file that comes with the cd-switch utility (in it's toppic).   14. Hi, Thank you for the blessing part . I will try to answer all your questions. 1) how to avoid copying to the harddisk? The answer was allready in my previous help. Look to this code: FOR %%i IN (D E F G H I J K L M N O P Q R S T U V W X Y Z) DO IF EXIST %%i:\win51ip.SP2 SET CDROM=%%i: SET PP=%cdrom%\Apps\ The code searches for every drive letter (D, E, F, ...) if the file "win51ip.SP2" is there. If you integrated SP2 for windowsXP to your cd, then this file is on the cd. The file is only on the CD and nowhere else. So the CDROM receives the letter of your cdrom drive (CDROM=%%i). Afther that It pass the variable to PP with this: "SET PP=%cdrom%\Apps\" So all your apps must be for instance in D:\Apps. So in this case %cdrom% = D: So %PP%winamp512\winamp512.msi is in my case D:\apps\winamp512\winamp512.msi The app can look for its own drive letter so the apps won't copy to the harddisk to install from cd. 2) can I have multiple cd's? Yup you can use a tool that makes the switch between 2 or more cd's. It is called a cd switching utility. A guy from Belgium made his tool an he has put it on the forum. look in this toppic. http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=41821 I didn't use it yet so you have to find out on your own. But it is made to switch between multiple dvd's or cd's. Note: I hope you understood what I am saying. If not, ask me. Sory if my answer is like for a child of 5 years age.   15. I have a small problem, I made a *.mst file for my office 2003 and I have put it in te runonceex.cmd file. It starts, does it's work, but then it reboots. :s I really don't know why it does that. afther my office I install frontpage and afther that I do my quicklaunch icons. When the machine is rebooted I can see the quicklaunch icons on the right place. But frontpage isn't installed. So this means that the runonceex.cmd continued. but this is not the real problem. In short when I install Office 2003 it reboots. I use an *.mst file to run it unattendely. It should not reboot. Is my *.mst file bad or smth else?? How can I prevent this to happen? Is there a sollution for my problem? Thank you in advance.
  16. Hellow, I made an exe that closes the window. Just with the app autoit. I dunno if it will work, still have to test it now. So I download autoit. just google for it. Then they have a command WinClose, <Window Title> [,<Window Text>] In my case this is: (yup am Dutch speaking) WinClose, LimeWire: maakt open informatie delen mogelijk! how did i found the window title. Wel start up limewire and you will see it. Or use the revealer from autoit. Then I have put the command in a txt and saved it as *.aut file. Then I converted the aut file to an exe. (look in the autoit menu in the start pannel) now I will try to start the exe in a *cmd file. Greetz Jonathan
  17. Am looking for the same thing. Smth like all Office apps in one cd? Is this possible? I made office 2003 with sp2 and also frontpage 2003 sp2 can I put them together. I guess they must have the same files. (not all but some) Has anybody done this or am I just dreaming. I know how to do them on afther the other. But I think perhaps i can save space by putting them together.
  18. I tried to give an answer on this part of the question. I am not sure if that is what you want. I don't want to blame you but your english is not verry clear to me . It depends on what you want to do. If you are not making an unattended windows cd. then just put the command setup.exe TRANSFORMS=unattended.MST /qb in a notepad file and save it as an *.cmd file. then put this file in the folder where the *.mst file is. If you want to integrate it in an unattended cd then there are many methods to do this. Just some: 1) you must put this command in the runonceex.cmd and start it there. I hope you know about what I'm talking. I suggest, you try the runonceex.cmd method. And try it with only one prog. To give you an easy prog try perhaps winamp. So what do you need that is a file runonceex.cmd. How to make it, well look here http://unattended.msfn.org/ it is in fact a txt file saved as *.cmd a cmd file is a small application. So on your windows cd make a folder called "apps" In this case the apps will be installed from the cd How will you start the runonceex.cmd file? Make a file caled cmdlines.txt in your $oem$ folder (if this folder doesn't exists, then make it. I must be right under the driver letter, so it is not a subfolder) In this cmdlines.txt you put this lines [Commands] "RunOnceEx.cmd" Where do you put the runonceex.cmd file?? also in the $oem$ folder. How do I find the switch for winamp? Search this forum for the winamp switch. You cant use your own downloaded winamp. Sometimes you must modify an app to let it work with switches. How to do that? Well look in the forum, many have made small tutorials for each app. How can I add extra lines to the runonceex? Easy put to extra lines in the file one with the title and one with the switch. Don't forget to increase the number I have put in red. REG ADD %KEY%\010 /VE /D "Daemon Tools 3.47" /f REG ADD %KEY%\010 /V 1 /D "%PP%daemon\DAEMONTools347.msi /qn /Reboot=Suppress" /f The /f is not a switch but it is part of the runonceex program. so the app and the switch are always between "" Don't use spaces in your file names, that will make it more complex for you.   21. Iepz, hope someone reads this, I think there is a lill problem with the search tool on the forum. Sometimes it tells me that it couldn't find a match. I know there is a match for lets say the word "daemon". When I push refresh and try again then it works. Sorry if this is in the wrong toppic, couldn't find the bugs toppic. You may move my message or tell me where I can report bug. Anyway this forum is the BEST!
  22. I tried it too, it works fine for me, no delay when I copy it to another pc an disconnect it from my network. I wanted to try the shortcut.exe method, but that one is to hard for me. (Or I am to tired) I someone has usefull hints about this .exe method they are welcome. Dunno if there is a thread about that on this forum. But thanks anyway, it works just fine for me. (but maybe there is a possibility that it will not work on certain systems) I also wanted to mention, that I tried to test the regtweak in windows. So I disabled the quicklaunch and removed the icons in the specified folder, then I moved the icons I wanted into this folder and aplied the regtweak. Nothing happened. I tried it in VM ware (so it starts in the install) And yup, it worked just fine. I dunno why the reg can't do it afther the install, but I know it works in an install. Greetz B)
  23. Today the forum was down again. Now I can get on it. but am unable to search. I always get the famous error (appears when you did smth wrong). Is it just me? or also other users. Euhm is there a topic where I can see what is going on with this forum. I mean when you will update, what is updated,... (am just interested) Well If its just me no prob.
