  11. ok, Windows is fully booted in 4s. This is ok, if you run a lot of software.
  12. ok, a damaged HDD can explain it. Check the SMART values and run a diag tool from the manufacture.

  16. Have you used the normal boot command to measure how long Windows boots? How long has it increased over the time?
  17. which store error message?
  18. athrx.sys = Atheros. So get a driver here: http://www.atheros.cz/ Look with a hardware diag tool like HWiNFO (http://www.hwinfo.com/) to see which chip the card uses.
  19. Simply put the DVD in the drive and run setup. It will detect the key: http://blogs.technet.com/b/keithcombs/archive/2012/11/16/windows-8-bios-keys-embedded-goodness.aspx
  20. ok, this explains it. To avoid this second restart I've always started the setup elevated.
  21. I don't think that the PC landscape is more interesting. What I really hate, and why I never buy Win8 tablet, is the 16:9 format look how terrible this is when you rotate the device a bit. And I also hate the fact that it scrolls from left to right and not from top to bottom (iPad way). I find the Win8 way absolutely terrible.
  22. I think other have it, too but they don't know that they have it because they don't run any apps. I need to run it as admin to install it for all suers to C:\Program Files. Can you use DuplicateTokenEx to get the old Explorer token, store it and start the Shell again with this token (CreateProcessWithTokenW)? I don't know how you run the Shell again.
  23. thanks for the new version, but I gave it up. It looks like you don't want to fix the elevated explorer issue So I always have to do the Logoff after upgrade.
  24. How long does it boot? Run the boot trace and look at the boot XML. YOu can try the hotfixes from here: http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=152622 and optimize boot if the ReadyBoot graph shows a lot of black: http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=140262
