  1. Thanks for changing this. I think it's more logical this way. @N1K: When I'm smiling I'm not serious...
  2. If you want to exclude .NET 2.0 from the package, set PROCESS_DNF3_DNF2 in _SNM.ini to NO and run SNM again.
  3. HFSLIP is copying the correct file. Your problem is this: SOURCE\$OEM$\$$\System32\wmvcore.dll
  4. Let me know how it goes. If it doesn't work, I'd like to compare DRVINDEX.INF from the SOURCE and SOURCESS folders.
  5. Literature revised.
  6. OK. I confirm the problem with the Win2K3 version of the time zone update. I fixed it in the latest test release (see top of this forum). Please try that. Can you tell me what the version is of wmvcore.dll in C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32 after installing Windows? This is for the KB923689 update. Your most recent HFSLIP.LOG still contains msxml6-KB927977-x86-ptb.exe. Please remove it. The HF folder is fine apart from that. This isn't really an issue, but application addons don't go in HFCABS.
  7. Windows XP SP2 contains DirectX 9.0c. The files shown on my list are extra gaming binaries, not DirectX9 core files. As mentioned in the Notes section on that same page: "You will need a decompression program (such as 7-zip or WinRAR) to extract the necessary files out of some of the downloaded installers. From the updates listed below, this applies to the new DirectX9 gaming binaries and the Windows Media 9/10 codecs."
  8. If Windows Update wants you to install the English version of the MDAC 2.8 SP1 update it's probably because you have an English MDAC_TYP.EXE in your HF folder. Please extract WindowsMedia-KB911564-x86-PTB.exe and WindowsServer2003-KB931836-x86-PTB.exe with WinRAR or 7-zip to make sure they are not corrupt. Also fix your HF list. msxml6-KB927977-x86-ptb.exe (MSXML 6) conflicts with msxml6_x86.msi (MSXML 6 SP1), for example.
  9. Your posts are confusing. It looks like you're working with a full HF folder again. If so, please use the minimal setup again. I can't help you if you change things without telling me.
  10. I can remove the hash sign but I'm leaving it in for now to demonstrate the issue. Other people may run in to this problem too. Go to this page. That's the last page of 5. Now click the "<<" link to return to the first page. You get a "Not found" error message. This only happens with the "<<" link. The "<" link (and the "1" link, if you can get it) work fine.
  11. You can ignore it. It's because the script creates an empty dummy file inside DNF11 for KB886903 but DOS doesn't like the method (yet it still creates the dummy file). I first implemented this on Feb 2nd, 2007 (one day after the previous version was released) but the error message was the reason it was never published. With today's update, I left it in but forgot that it produces an error message (I only tested .NET 3.0). Either way, I just uploaded a new version which uses a different method to create an empty file. You won't see an error message using this one.

    KB934238

Don't worry about that; it's harmless and happens because an empty file is created. I think I worked around the error message in another script but I apparantly forgot to do the same in SNM.
  13. OK. Please download the attached ZIP file and expand it to your main HFSLIP working folder. Run get_asms.cmd; it will compare both ASMS folders and output the new files with a relative path into ASMS_NEW.TXT (compressed into ASMS.CAB). Can you attach the cab with your next post? get_asms.zip
  14. This is more TommyP's domain but I think that "all" refers to the two DLLs and all reducer files you include.
  15. Tomcat76

    KB934238

SNM has been updated. @Super-Magician I got the PM but didn't have the time yet to check it out.
  16. Given what you just wrote, I don't think it will be necessary to test with DRIVERCOMP=D. It's clear the problem lies with the ASMS folder. I wonder where those extra ASMS files are coming from. You are only including two cab files in HFCABS.
  17. New version. 20070624 - added support for xpsepsc*.exe updates for .NET 3.0 and .NET 3.0 langpack; they don't have to be renamed - it's no longer needed to rename msxml6_x86.msi to msxml6.msi - the dummy file for KB886903 for .NET 1.1 is now 0KB instead of 1KB HFSLIP doesn't handle them so no. The silent installers are copied into I386\SVCPACK. nLite should work just fine with that.
  18. Do you know which hotfixes were handled before KB931836? It looks like one or more are corrupt. If you have WinRAR or 7-zip installed, right-click some of the Windows Media hotfixes and select "Extract to <subfolder>\". I've just taken another look at your HFSLIP.LOG file and noticed problems like this: Windows2000-KB904706-DX9-x86-PTB.exe Windows2000-KB904706-v2-x86-PTB.exe The first is for DirectX9 and the other for DirectX7; you can't have both. Also, you have MDAC281-KB927779-x86-ENU.exe in HF and KB927779.exe in HFSVCPACK. What is that for? I'm almost willing to bet that KB927779.exe is for MDAC 2.5 SP3 considering the rest of your HFSLIP.LOG file. And the one in HF is the English version. Please go to my hotfix list again. Mark the checkbox for the components you want to include, and THEN compare your hotfixes to the list. Run HFSLIP again after that. Attach the new HFSLIP.LOG (zipped) and also let me know if the error still appears. Don't install from the new source.
  19. That's beside the point.
  20. I'm not sure I like this new feature the way it's presented now. It defaults to showing two stars out of five so that leaves a false impression on people that read the posts. Wouldn't it be better to default to 0/5?
  21. Yes; forgot to mention it. Seems to work now. I'm not sure, but it seems like you're doing a hack now. The post number is reflected in the "gopid" variable; is it this that fails in Opera?
  22. Quote: "If you wish to include a component, mark the checkbox next to it. This will dynamically update the lists below."When you check Internet Explorer 6, the updates for Internet Explorer 5 and Outlook Express 5.5 go away. I haven't had problems with reg tweaks using 1.5.0 or the newest test releases, but it's always possible. Let's see how things go after you update your list with the correct hotfixes. Sorry, but you'll have to be more specific than that. Do you want to remove shortcuts from the Start Menu? If so, you need to use the appropriate registry tweaks in your .REG file. You should be able to find answers when searching on the Internet. Java and JavaScript are totally unrelated. I'm using JavaScript... Those are actually created by HFSLIP. There's no problem with underscores that I'm aware of either....
  23. There's a direct link on every of my update lists; it's referred to as "Office Update engine"...
  24. TXTSETUP.SIF is fine. This is a funny issue. I wonder if the problem still occurs if you don't merge the driver cabs (DRIVERCOMP=D). Are the ASMS folders in SOURCE and SOURCESS identical in size?
  25. You have hotfixes for IE5, IE6, OE 5.5 and OE6 in your HF folder. Please remove those for IE5 and OE 5.5. Also, when slipstreaming IE6 but not the latest Windows Script 5.6 package, you need Windows2000-KB917344-56-x86-PTB.EXE and not Windows2000-KB917344-x86-PTB.EXE.
