  1. @FDV: I've send an e-mail with a link to the PNG. I don't get any error messages when "Web View" is disabled.
  2. I'm not a "trained debugger" so this is all I can give...For the sake of thoroughness, I'll be talking about "Microsoft Windows Network" instead of "Computers Near Me": My Network Places > Entire network. On the left, click the link to show the full content of the network. Then you see the "Microsoft Windows Network" icon. Double-clicking "Microsoft Windows Network" gives me these two errors: Line: 3 Character: 1 Error: Illegal character Code: 0 URL: file://D:\WINNT\Web\default.htt Line: 55 Character: 13 Error: Object expected Code: 0 URL: file://D:\WINNT\Web\default.htt Left-clicking a workgroup name: Line: 55 Character: 13 Error: Object expected Code: 0 URL: file://D:\WINNT\Web\default.htt Double-clicking a workgroup name: Line: 3 Character: 1 Error: Illegal character Code: 0 URL: file://D:\WINNT\Web\default.htt Line: 55 Character: 13 Error: Object expected Code: 0 URL: file://D:\WINNT\Web\default.htt Left-clicking a computer in the network: Line: 55 Character: 13 Error: Object expected Code: 0 URL: file://D:\WINNT\Web\default.htt Double-clicking a computer in the network: Line: 3 Character: 1 Error: Illegal character Code: 0 URL: file://D:\WINNT\Web\default.htt Line: 55 Character: 13 Error: Object expected Code: 0 URL: file://D:\WINNT\Web\default.htt Left-clicking a shared folder on a computer: Line: 65 Character: 9 Error: 'gTimer' is not defined Code: 0 URL: file://D:\WINNT\Web\default.htt The same happens with a Run prompt. Accessing shared folders and navigating into their subfolders is not a problem, so I can access, eg, "\\remote-comp\shared-folder" directly without getting error messages, but not "\\remote-comp". I never had this problem before, and everything is fine if I do a "partial" HFSLIP:- add XP bootfiles to FIX - add IE6SP1 and DX9 to "IESRC" / "HFCABS" - add only rootsupd.exe, scriptnl.exe, WI 3.1, WMP9 update and WUA 2.0 to "HF" For the rest, I can add as many programs as I like inside the SVPK folders. The last (functional) slip source I made has all the remaining hotfixes called by a CMD inside "hotfixes.exe", located inside the no-switch folder. Like this, all is fine and Windows Update doesn't complain either. I also remove the Uninstall entries from Add/Remove Programs via a regedit but that's just cosmetics. Yes. I've downloaded the Dutch version and used the mentioned update path to get a fuller version (I'm not calling it "full" because you can only get that with the IEAK). OK. I'll try to figure it out. Is it the one in HKLM\...\Uninstall?
  3. @ TommyP / FDV: At the end of step 8, you (vagely) explain the reasons for putting in NTDETECT.COM and NTLDR in the FIX folder. While a faster boot is a nice side effect, the main reason is the fact that you can install Windows 2000 after installing Windows XP. If you do this with the original Win2K files, you'll have to mess around a bit to get XP back up and running as the 2K bootloader can't handle XP.
  4. Sorry to say, but the new version doesn't fix the problem I'm having with "Computers near me" -- at least on the Dutch version of Windows 2000. I have to click away two script error dialogs, and that for every folder I'm trying to access on the network. I'm now using my own executable, "hotfixes.exe", which installs all necessary hotfixes. I don't have the problem then. (Incidentally, I still need the MDAC update according to WU.) Is there maybe some kind of debugger I can use to check if something goes wrong during the slipstream process?
  5. That's no problem. BTW, the previous version sometimes wouldn't update OE to version 6, causing the two OE6SP1 updates to not apply. Let's hope the new one fixes that problem.
  6. Thanks for the update. I'll wait for the next release then...
  7. Multilingual? I just started up the program and got this error message (translated from Dutch): "Cannot find the file HF\Windows 2000-KB891861-x86-ENU.EXE (or one of its components). Verify if the path and the file name are correct and if all required libraries are available." I'm not surprised it can't find it when the file is Dutch...
  8. Two questions/remarks about the new instructions: 1) What about the MDAC update (Q832483)? Is it no longer required? 2) In step 4, subsection "Windows Update, LegitCheck" you ask to download the Windows Update agent (2) and extract the MSI from it (3). It doesn't contain an MSI as far as I can see... Edit: Hmm... Would it be possible that (3) applies to (4), the WGA utility? I have placed the WU Agent inside HF before and all went fine. The WGA utility does contain an MSI but you don't ask to extract it. So I guess you got (3) and (4) mixed up...
  9. No luck. I've tried downloading it while on your site, have reloaded this thread's main page and your page via Ctrl-F5, and eventually cleared the cache (all of it). I'm still getting the package with "HFSLIP_50808.CMD" in it... I'm usually on Opera but my main drive died so I'm now only using IE. Let me try on a different computer... Edit: Well, that worked. Must be some weird cache problem...
  10. Is it possible there's been some mistake? I've downloaded that file (50808) yesterday already. I was using 50806 up and through the day before yesterday. For what it's worth, I didn't notice any improvement... Sorry... I'm now adding all hotfixes via a CMD file inside a 7-zipped switchless (placed inside the folder for switchless installers). That works.
  11. Thanks for the tip; it works. I've changed it into this: Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\PowerPoint Viewer\11.0] "EULAAccepted"=dword:00000001 [HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Software\Microsoft\PowerPoint Viewer\11.0] "EULAAccepted"=dword:00000001
  12. To round things up... Adding rootsupd.exe and scriptnl.exe went great. I even added silent installers for Word Viewer 2003, Excel Viewer 2003 and Powerpoint 2003 to see if it couldn't be some sort of "size issue". So it's just the Windows 2000 and IE6/OE6 hotfixes that act up. I'll wait for the next release before I start adding back the hotfixes one by one...
  13. Can anyone tell me if there's any way to skip the EULA of Powerpoint Viewer 2003 with a silent install? For Word Viewer 2003 and Excel Viewer 2003, these are the commands I'm using respectively: msiexec /i WORDVIEW.MSI /qn ACCEPTEULA=1 ASSOCIATE=1 msiexec /i XLVIEW.MSI /qn ACCEPTEULA=1 ASSOCIATE=1 The ACCEPTEULA part doesn't seem to do the trick for PPoint Viewer 2003; the EULA is still shown upon first run...
  14. Getting closer. The problem I'm having with the Dutch version of Windows 2000 is related to the hotfixes, or at least the "handling" of them by the TS program. These I can include for sure: - Windows Media Player 9 hotfix - Windows Installer 3.1 - Windows Update Agent 2.0 This I certainly cannot include: - Windows 2000 Post-SP4 Rollup I made a test version which includes all hotfixes except the Rollup, but the beforementioned problem with "Computers Near Me" reappears then. This means that at least one of the other "real" hotfixes is "mistreated" as well. Note that when I install the hotfixes manually one by one, no problems arise so they aren't corrupted. I'm now going to make another CD which includes the three hotfixes that DO work, plus rootsupd.exe and scriptnl.exe. No issues with the additional stuff: XP boot files, IE6SP1, DX9 and silent installers (Reader 7.0.3, JRE 1.5.0_04, WMP9 and Messenger 7). I don't know if this is related, but, somewhere near the end of the TS operation, I see four or five instances of "File not found", and once the text "Toegang geweigerd" (Access denied). This all goes too fast for me so I can't say which files are responsible for this.
  15. Oops... Severe problem. Dutch version of Windows 2000. When going to My Network Places > Computers Near Me, a script error dialog shows, referencing E:\WINNT\Web\default.htt. When clicking No, another script error dialog comes up. After clicking No on that one too, the computers in the workgroup show but the left pane is blank (no "Computers near me" title and no background image). I'm going to try to figure out if I did something wrong but I thought I'd post it just in case you'd have an idea what could be causing this... Edit... I just did a manual install (Windows 2000 SP4 Dutch / IE6SP1 / DX9c / chipset drivers / my slipstreamed JRE, .NET and Acrobat Reader / all hotfixes except WMP9 update / WMP9 & WMP9 update). The above problem isn't there anymore. I'm now going to remake the Total Slipstream-- maybe with "less stuff".
  16. The program name as displayed in Add/Remove Programs is hard coded in several places in the registry. Some may be redundant but I don't know which. Maybe someone else can figure that out. HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Installer\Products\68AB67CA7DA73401B7447A0000000000 "ProductName"="Adobe Reader 7.0.2 - Nederlands" "Version"=dword:07000002 HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\Installer\Products\68AB67CA7DA73401B7447A0000000000 "ProductName"="Adobe Reader 7.0.2 - Nederlands" "Version"=dword:07000002 HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Installer\UserData\S-1-5-18\Products\68AB67CA7DA73401B7447A0000000000\InstallProperties "DisplayName"="Adobe Reader 7.0.2 - Nederlands" "DisplayVersion"="7.0.2" "Version"=dword:07000002 HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\{AC76BA86-7AD7-1043-7B44-A70000000000} "DisplayName"="Adobe Reader 7.0.2 - Nederlands" "DisplayVersion"="7.0.2" "Version"=dword:07000002 The parts in red should be altered according to your region. Those strings in places other than Uninstall have that code inverted; so if "1043" is the code for your region, it's displayed as "1043" in the Uninstall string but as "3401" in all others.
  17. Good info on this page. I've been trying to get a silent/switchless installer for .NET 1.1 (fully updated), but am still struggling with the following two issues: - the language pack cannot be directly integrated - Add/Remove Programs has an entry for the ASP hotfix, but it's useless since it cannot be removed manually from there As a result, I now have three packages in one: File 1 = Executable holding .NET 1.1 with SP1 and ASP hotfix slipstreamed File 2 = .reg tweak to remove redundant Add/Remove Programs entry File 3 = Executable holding Dutch language pack For File 1, I made an administrative installation point of .NET 1.1 and slipstreamed the SP1 and ASP updates into it. Then I used 7-zip to create the executable. For File 3, I extracted the content of the language pack, kept "langpac1.cab" and "langpack.msi", and turned it into an executable using 7-zip. File 1 and File 2 were "merged" using IExpress (with the .reg tweak running post-install). After that, I fired up IExpress again to combine the previously combined installer (for Files 1 and 2) with File 3 (the latter running post-install). ResHacker was then used to change the icon of the "main" installer. Although it works, when I look at this, it sort of has a "patchy" feel to it. I can't help but think that there are better ways of doing it...
  18. This is maybe a dumb question but I'll take my chances... Does anyone know where to get the "agent" (or whatever it's called) for Windows Update v4? The regular WU site works with v6 (I have that) but the Catalog is still on 4... My apologies if this was asked before but I've tried a search for "windows update v4" and couldn't find an answer.
  19. I know... I was just wondering if anyone was aware of similar projects to RyanVM's for Dutch switchless installers. I'll do that. Thanks.
  20. Thanks for the update. I can't wait... Thanks again.
  21. I'm gonna try it on Win2K Dutch. Two problems... 1) MSXML 4.0 is not available in Dutch. Should I get something else instead? I'll be updating to the post-SP4 rollup and IE6SP1, if of relevance. 2) Any idea where to find the Dutch root certificate update? Or is it the same as the English one? I'm also looking for switchless installers for .NET, JRE 1.5.0_04 and Acrobat Reader 7.0. Dutch, of course... B)
  22. Interesting. If this works out, I'm going to try it out on XP. I'm a video editor and in that regard XP's defragger is the worst: it compresses files...
  23. I'd like to try adding the full Flash & Shockwave players. Has this been covered before? I've found a bit of info on these forums about changing/editing flash.oc_ and swflash.in_, but that looks like what the .cab installer would do. On many systems, I've experienced the problem that IE uninstalls the Flash player plugin when clearing the TIF, and the only solution I could find was to use the full installer which can be downloaded here: http://www.macromedia.com/cfusion/knowledg..._19166#download Can I simply place both full installers (for Flash & Shockwave) in the SVPK_SW folder? If nobody knows this, I'll just give it a try myself.
  24. @tommyp: The Viewers -- not the full Office packages. I'm familiar with slipstreaming full O2K, OXP & O2K3. I'd like to include the Viewers with your Total Slipstream package...
