Our MD5 sum for Windows-KB890830-V1.19.exe doesn't match... Windows_KB890830_V1.19.zip
-
Hi Super-Magician! Your md5 is still looking for the 890830 version 1.18. It also looking for 888113 and 916281 which were replaced by newer updates... thanks!

Well, I'm in a not-for-profit organization. So, I don't really use HFSLIP for any commercial purpose. I do use it on my machines instead of using the restore CDs from hp. So when I troubleshoot some of the machines from users I support, i do the same. That is, use an HFSLIPed CD. If TommyP and GNU/GPL does not allow me to use HFSLIP in such a setting, I guess I'll just go back to the old SVCPACK method...
-
I do use HFSLIP on a corporate environment. I deployed quite a number of HFSLIPed machines in our network...

I tried many times to redownload WindowsXP-KB904706-v2-x86-ENU.exe but we still do not match md5 checksum... can you please verify WindowsXP-KB904706-v2-x86-ENU.exe? I attached my md5 checksum for this hotfix. Thanks, super-magician. WindowsXP_KB904706_v2_x86_ENU.zip

Thank you very much, Super-Magician! That's super!

a downloadable md5 file for every HF folder on that list would suffice. no need to put that actual md5 checksums beside the updates. an md5 file would even make it easier to check our files as there would be no need to check on the page to compare checksums. an md5 file checker, like md5summer, would do the checking by itself.

I made a switchless installer of ie7beta. the installer works, BUT it's causing errors to proceeding switchless installers and even unattended installations at my runonceex routine. what i did as a workaround is put ie7beta switchless installer as the last routine in my runonceex just before the computer restarts. no problem with this method. that was what i did, back then, with ie7beta for testing purposes only. i don't include it nowadays... i seldom use ie anyway.

That would be great. Thanks!

Hi Super-Magician. I think I was the one who requested having a list of hotfixes' checksums. I find this really useful as I always refer to this whenever there are new hotfixes. But I do agree though that it would be better and easier if this is integrated to the official HFSLIP hotfixes listing here: http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=62177 and here: http://users.telenet.be/tc76/winup/_winxp.html But with multi-tabbed browsing, there's not much of a problem having the checksums on a different page...

I'd say leaving HFSLIP entry in Add/Remove Programs is a recognition and a show of appreciation for those behind HFSLIP. It's like everytime you go into Add/Remove Programs.. you'd say "Thank goodness, HFSLIP!" ...just my personal preference...

Argh! I killed me! NETMAP.INF is not in any of my original source discs... (all hp Restore Discs and Operating System CDs) It's not in the SP2 slipstreamed cd from hp, neither in their SP1 disc. When I manually slipstreamed SP2 in the SP1 source, the update did create the WINXXUPG folders in I386. I just didn't bother checking what files they contain, assuming everything should be there... which, evidently, is not the case. I guess I won't bother anymore with this RECOVERY CONSOLE thing, as I don't think of any situation I'll every need it.. (I just tried the INSTALLRC option to see if it works on me) All my data files are in a separate secondary hard drive. When something goes wrong, I just insert my HFSLIPped CD and restart... and before I could finished my coffee... TAH-DAAAH!!! A fresh Windows XP...
-
So I tried 60617b with INSTALLRC=1 and WINNTUPG folder present: an error message popped out at T-13 telling me that NETMAP.INF was not found, so I had to press OK, then another dialog box saying the "Windows XP Setup cannot continue" (something like that) and I had to click 'Finished...'
-
Oh, I'm still using 60612a... then the next time I logged in it's already 60616b! But I already saw the MAKENOISO feature in 60612a... Thanks for that feature anyway. Very much appreciated.
-
Question: Is it possible to add a feature in HFSLIP to ignore MAKENOISO in HFANSWER.INI if in MAKEISO mode?
-
yup, same result here...
-
that sounds good... I'm testing HFSLIP now with the latest updates for Windows XP...
-
salamat kabayan! ish.. my original source CD from hp, slipstreamed with SP2, does not even come with those WIN**UPG folders.. But, of course, I'll get those folders if I manually slipstream SP2 (or "let HFSLIP do it, if I'm too lazy") to a pre-SP2 source... I agree that it is up to the user to copy or not the entire source. And if the user chose not to include, or delete those folders, then the user must not use the InstallRC=1 option. For this reason, I was thinking of a simple addition to the HFSLIP instructions that as a prerequisite for using InstallRC=1 option, winntupg folder must exists in the source..
-
yes, I made another CD without the InstallRC option and the error message I mentioned didn't came up. After install, I ran from the command prompt: START /WAIT I386\winnt32.exe /cmdcons /unattend The error I mentioned came up again but just like what happened when I included InstallRC, it just continued with the installation after I pressed OK.
-
When using the InstallRC option in HFANSWER.INI, WINNTUPG Folder in SOURCE\I386 is required. When it is not present, you get the error message at T-13 something like: "The option to upgrade is not available..." "X:\I386\WINNTUPG\NETUPGRD.DLL" cannot be found...
-
Oh, sorry.. I didn't know... Thanks!

Since it's now possible to disable ISO creation thru HFANSWER.INI... would it also be okay to add a feature to go directly to the ISO creation without going through all the HFSLIP processes? This way we can run HFSLIP without creating the ISO then check SOURCESS folders and perhaps make some modifications to the SVCPACK.INI file or other things. Then when we're ready to make the ISO, instead of running MKISOFS.EXE manually from the command line, we could use HFSLIP as the MKISOFS.EXE frontend UI for making our HFSLIPed CD. (I know we could use a third party ISO creation UI for this since that's what we all do before ISO creation feature was added to HFSLIP but it would be great if HFSLIP can do it since it would be just skipping all those steps and make the ISO right away from the SOURCESS folder) It could be added, say, right in the beginning of the batch file saying like "SOURCESS FOLDER DETECTED, CREATE ISO?" If you answer Yes, you go directly to ISO creation. If you answer No, then you go through the whole HFSLIP process and recreate SOURCESS folder... (and make the ISO, or not, whatever you specified in your HFANSWER.INI) Just an idea...

I think it's really a Window Genuine Annoying Notification! I am running a genuine Windows XP Professional. It comes preinstalled in my hp d530, which was bought brand new (so it's hardly a counterfeit Windows), so i use the OEMBIOS.* activation method. Yet, when I included the latest 905474 script, just for the sake of testing, I got that message that my Windows XP is not genuine during the first boot and halted my RunOnceEx routines. I just clicked Resolve Later, and when the machine restarted I never got the message again... Maybe, it realized that I'm actually running a genuine Windows XP... I just wished a message popped out saying: "Sorry, we thought your copy of Windows is not genuine. The Microsoft Desktop Team wholeheartedly apologizes for the inconvenience." Oh, did I mention it's really a Window Genuine Annoying Notification? I am not including it again in my HFSLIP installation. I just did so for testing. Besides, it doesn't make any sense because I know and I am sure that my Windows XP is genuine. And I would like to mention that it's really a Window Genuine Annoying Notification!

I use FF-1503. It's been working before. Only now after the recent updates that it doesn't load properly... at least, in my case... It only loads the page up to.. "Choose your preferred service pack level" and a single check box... nothing follows... edit: (8:59am) The same with Internet Explorer.. I think it's with the page itself and not on my end because it was showing properly before... edit: (9:45pm) It's working now. Seems the layout was changed. It looks neat. I think it looks great!

something is wrong with the Dynamic List here... http://users.telenet.be/tc76/winup/_winxp.html (it doesn't show the list)
