  1. If you clean that CPU, it will work totally fine.. As I have already written.. You can search for forums with subjects of Evaporator cooler and how to isolate the CPU in goop.. I'm sure he used it like that with a non-conductive termal material, and just wants to upgrade his system.. I whould buy the CPU and clean it!
  2. I have a Cieftech case, and it has removable trays with fans like that CoolerMaster one, but with no filter.. So my HDD's are also soked in dense dust!
  3. Ok, thanks a lot for the info.. But isnt mobile CPU for notebooks? What is the CPU name, brand, numbers? I just got very intrested in this.. Also found this site.. Edit: I'm getting sick.. Ill.. This is something I GOT to be part of..! _____________ OCZ Platinum Edition Revision 2 PC-3200 memory has been designed for ultra-low latency operation on Intel Pentium 4 and AMD AthlonXP/Athlon 64 platforms. 4. Ok, but on the graficks card I get very dense dust.. I'm having trouble removing it..
  5. Doh.. I have overclocked it before.. So it can't be locked.. Or is that to a sertain multiplier that it is locked? And is there a easy way to unlock it? And will 200 FSB work? What if the Multiplier is still 11 when setting FSB to 200 (400).. Edit: And how does your Motherboard support 540 FSB (270x2)? Or does only the RAM ratio FSB count?
  6. This may differ from MoBo to MoBo, but it's most common that the Primary master is a HDD in the end of the IDE cable (gray end socket).. Then the Primary Slave on the same cable (middle socket).. This cable is then connected to IDE1 on the MoBo.. Next cable has lets say 2 CD-ROMs.. Secondary Master in the end of cable (gray socket).. And secondary Slave on the same cable (middle socket).. This cable is then connected to IDE2 on the MoBo.. And remember to set the jumpers right.. If Master, set it to master.. If Slave, set it to slave.. This may not be correct for your MoBo, but whould most common be the best way to fit it.. Both thinking about the location of the drives in the case and cable length, and that you shouldnt have a CD-ROM and HDD on the same cable.. If you try to burn a DVD with HDD and DVD-ROM on the same cable, it will cause a very slow data transfering speed.. And after all is well.. Be sure DMA is turned on.. The Floppy drive is not an IDE device.. It's a it uses FDC1 cable, and the red line on the ribbon cable must be aligned with pin-1 on both the FDC1 port (on MoBo) and the floppy connector.. And remember.. Use a BOOT-able CD when trying to BOOT with CD.. Also, try changing the BOOT order like this: 1 Floppy Drive 2 CD-ROM 3 Hard Disc Drive
  7. Yeah, it's AGP 8x though.. And Sapphire is good.. ASUS to, but I don't grow mony on trees..
  8. Does enybody know of a good way to prevent dust to inhabitate the computers periphrals? Eny good dust-filers or? I have one fan-filter, but half of the filter is tuching the fan blades, lol.. They came in a mount, but I had to disassemble it cause it was no space for it..
  9. Darn, I can't find eny leaking Caps.. Tsk tsk.. What now? Edit: This is the Topic by the way.. http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=51536
  10. I will forever stick to ATI even if the company closes.. Then 10 years from now I will have a ATI card with an old MoBo to make it work.. I refuse to use eny GeForce crap!
  11. If you use a evaporator cooler (compressor, similar to the heat-pump in a refridgerator), then you will need to cover the whole CPU in something that does not lead electrisity to prevent condensation under the CPU.. A peltier module may also need condensation prevention.. He should have cleaned it before selling it.. If you install it with termal material on.. It may cause bad conductivity to the pins and it will smudge termal material in the socket to.. Wich is very hard to clean.. Edit: And remember, do not eat or drink when tuching termal compound.. It's toxic.. Clean hands very good after tuching it!
  12. It's not FBS, and not fsb, it's FSB (Front Side Bus).. He he, I know I'm a stupid a** trying to correct people... Tsk tsk.. Most Motherboards do support low external clock settings even on new MoBo's if the CPU has same socket and supports the Technology.. If the CPU is a Athlon XP and the Motherboard supports for instance Athlon, Duron, Athlon XP.. Then it should support the speed of the CPU.. But you will easily find that out if you enter BIOS and try to set the FSB at the value needed.. If the CPU supports 266MHz FSB, then you will have to set the external clock speed in BIOS to 133.. Even my newest MoBo supports 400/333/266, but it don't support eny CPU with that low FSB.. You chould ofcause run a 400 FSB CPU at 266, but whats the point in doing that? The AMD Sempron 2600+ / 1.83 GHz runs at 333MHz was the lowest I found, and it's not supported by this MoBo.. There might also exsist MoBo producers making MoBo's that don't support very slow FSB, but when it say 400/333MHz on the package, then thats usualy for comersial reasons.. Like this MoBo supports as fast as 400 FSB.. It may also support slower FSB's.. - Abit AN8 Ultra! CPU Supports AMD Socket 939 Athlon 64/64FX & Athlon 64 X2 dual-core Processors with 2GHz system bus using Hyper Transport™ technology Supports AMD CPU Cool 'n' Quiet Technology Chipset NVIDIA NF4 Ultra single chip Integrated NV Gigabit Ethernet and NV Firewall Memory Four 184-pin DIMM sockets Support 4 DIMM Dual DDR 400/333/266 non-ECC memory Support 4 DIMM up to 4GB Max. Edit: But please tell me the name of the CPU and Motherboard + aditional info.. And I will soon post a reply if the MoBo supports it or not..!
  13. I have my old Abit NF7-S v2.0 here, and wondering how I overclocked the 2500+ CPU.. I know I'v done it before, but when I now set user defined settings, the MoBo just ignores them and uses default 2500+ multiplier factor.. The external clock is set to 166MHz.. (FSB) And the multiplier factor is set to 11.. That gives the CPU a speed of 1.833MHz wich is it's default.. I tried to increase the multiplier factor to 12, but when I BOOT, it just ignores that setting.. There is one option called CPU Interface wich I set to Enable.. That means overclocking setting activated.. I tried to Disable it to, to see if it did eny diffrence with no result.. Do I have to increase the FSB? I have a 400 FSB supported card, so maybe setting it to 200 external clock and set the memory ratio to 1/1? Then it will run at 200 x2 FSB, right? Edit: Searching for my old cards manual...
  14. Hi Zxian.. I think I wrecked the Chipset on a MoBo once caused by to high FSB, but that was because I put it higher then the MoBo can handle.. At least I think that was the problem, I may be wrong... And I know that if you set your multiplyer to high, you might trash/fry the CPU.. This also applys to new MoBo's with temp. shutdown.. Extreme values will fry the CPU even with protection.. And if you don't belive it, you can buy a brand new MoBo and look in the Manual.. "Wrong settings may damage your hardware" I'm happy to see you are supporting both Seagate's HDD's and Opera 8, the fastest Browser on Earth.. A note to the grafics-card brand.. I whould get a ATI card.. I don't support those GeForce people.. Edit: And by the way, with that kind of memory set, you wont be able to run Dual Channel DDR.. And I just found a manual from a brand new Abit AN8 UltraMoBo:
  15. I understands this needs a post refresh/update.. : Ok.. Here we go..! I have buildt a Computer looking like this: And this Chieftec case contains the following: Abit AN8 Ultra, nForce4 Ultra, Socket-939, ATX, S-ATA, BbLAN, Firewire, PCI-Ex16. AMD Athlon 64 3200+ 2.0GHz Socket-939, 512KB, Boxed with fan. TwinMOS PC3200 DDR-DIMM 1024MB Dual Pack Kit w/two matched PC3200 CL2.5 DDR's. Seagate Barracuda 7200.8 250GB IDE ATA/100 8MB 7200RPM. Sapphire Radeon X700PRO 256MB GDDR3 PCI-Express,Tv-Out, DVI-I, Full-Retail PSU: NorthQ 4775 ATX 400W Silent, 140mm fan, 12-17dBA, 20/24pin. Case also have 2 PAPST fans installed.. Airflow is great.. Temp.'s are great (below 40'C CPU).. ______________________________ I installed WinXP and used the computer for a day or so, then I installed uGuru, and problems occured.. The computer crashed after installing uGuru so I Cleared the CMOS and Un-installed uGuru.. The manual says something about installing nVidia IDE driver wich I'v not done (not uGuru manual).. Then the computer worked for some time, but after one more day of use or so, the WinXP OS started making trouble.. Missing config.sys file on BOOT and so on (though it might be a virus).. So I re-installed WinXP again after formatting, then everything seemd ok.. But after a short time of use the computer started to freeze and re-BOOT often.. And now it's almost hopeless to make it BOOT at all.. I get passed the BIOS info screen, then Freeze! Sometimes I can see WinXP loading screen before it freezes.. So, now I wonder.. What is the problem? The MoBo? Cause I can't find eny reson why it should be enything else.. But my experience in this is to low to state a sertain failure..! I did also Clear CMOS once while PSU was turned on.. Red led on MoBo lighted (computer was not running).. I dunno if this can cause the MoBo to fail.. ________________________________ Edit: This is the case I'm working on now by the way.. : Sorry for poor image qality, I have no dig.-cam. now, so I rented my dude's cell-phone cam.
