  1. I had the beverages myself, but no hair pulling: I knew you'd figure it out sooner or later! That code has been too stable lately ... I am a little surprised that you need to show all files, as I did not realize that there were hidden files on the CD. I will have to add that to my next web site update (say, first quarter 2005 ... ). It could also be mentioned that 8.3 file name creation needs to be active (it is by default). Glad the mystery is solved!
  2. What, you think I went out and paid out the ying-yang? You seen the prices for Server 2003? That SVCPACK.INF is on my updated Enterprise Trial Version (I believe there is not a Standard Trial).
  3. Hmmm... I may be missing something, but XPCREATE has been working fine for WIN2K3 Server. I do use the Official MS method, with the SVCPACK subdirectory, as opposed to the UPDATE subdirectory method. 4. So, I guess the moral of the story is to install EITHER the WMP9 codecs OR WMP9, but not both. Trail and error: gotta love it! Thanks, r37ribution.
  5. No prob, r37ribution. I'll give it a test on my next install, but I seem to remember disabling that in my reg tweaks ...
  6. Welcome, uri92. Much better post this time: positive posts get positive anwers! You will need to create a sub-directory of the FILESCD directory, called I386, and place your WINNT.SIF there. OK, OK, the documentation is a bit weak ... Give it a go, and let us know how it works out for you.
  7. New one on me. I tend to think it is not XPCREATE related. Perhaps you would have more luck in the Unattended Forum.
  8. At least you figured it out. I went months with that welcome screen due to a typo in WINNT.SIF, couldn't figure it out for the life of me. I am surprised that the blank password was the cause. Just goes to show you ...
  9. Try your work files at home. It could also conceivably be a permissions question. Once all files and directories are extracted from the XPCREATE distribution archive, the user should not need to manually create any more files or directories.
  10. MM2 shows as being needed, 8.1 MB download. On the otherhand, it is also present as Version 2.1.4012.0 That's not right ... Journal Viewer, however, is certainly AWOL.
  11. Blyster is correct: there is a problem copying your source files. Yes, they show up on the F Drive, where you have your XP CD. What we need to find out is why it appears that none of these files are copied to the CDROOT directory, XPCREATE "working" directory. Someone else got 5 minutes to run that XPCREATE.CMD I posted, and see if it does copy files to CDROOT?
  12. Journal Viewer, HighMAT CD Support, .NET Framework 1.1 and Movie Maker 2 all show on Windows Update for me. I'm fairly sure some of those WERE installed with the last beta. Then again, sometimes I see things, too.
  13. You fellahs keep that up, I'm afraid I might have to split the profits! I agree, 2 second CD copies are a little suspicious. However, the log indicates XPSOURCE = F:, and the listing of DIR F: shows the CD volume label and contents. Yet the files are not copied to CDROOT, and thus PRODSPEC.INI is never found. Odd ... I'm going to post that same file again, and if someone else could test it, that may help. No need to go any further than the "Source Found" log messages. (Attachment removed)
  14. Hate to burst your bubble ... of course it works! I have not tried the "few other things" yet, and am surprised that they are not included by default. However, apart from slipstreaming the RC1, I will not be experimenting with it too much until the it is out of beta, and Released To Web. What will be more interesting to see is the post SP2 Type I Hotfixes. Thanks for that, and please post what ever else you discover. (Geez, 3 posts snuck in in the 10 minutes I take to type a few lines. Must be gettin' old ... )
  15. Good question. My guess would be that the SVC-PRE file is incorrect. It looks like the SVC-PRE version is XP, where as the other is certainly 2003. Guess some more tests should be run ...
  16. In Windows XP the MDAC update is slipstreamed, thus a "special case". It is not slipstreamed in 2K / 2K3 Servers. The final result is not the same. You may name the Type II Hotfixes whatever suits your fancy, but remember that they are installed in alphabetical order. This is not the case for Type I Hotfixes, which will be installed in numerical order determined by the KB number, regardless of how the actual files are named.
  17. If I had your CDs, I would test it myself. I don't. Please attach your XPCREATE.LOG file.
  18. Try using an ORIGINAL XP CD. You know, the ones with the little hologram on it ... Not a copy, not an OEM version, but an ORIGINAL XP CD. If the file PRODSPEC.INI cannot be found, there is a problem with the source files. If the CD has an $OEM$ directory ... who knows what may happen. (It does.)
  19. I suspect a problem in your XP source files. Please use the attached XPCREATE.CMD file, and attach (not post) your log file. For those interested, there is no functional differences between this version, and the downloadable version. This version has XPCREATE Spies, to find user errors ... (Attachment removed)
  20. Log file, when the error happens, etc ... Give me something to work with ...
  21. Like Alanoll says. It may work in SVC-HF2. I believe if you install WMP9, you do not need the codecs seperatly.
  22. It got better. READ HERE
  23. 32 Minutes versus 80 minutes ... I'll take the RAID disks for speed ... The log file looks good. Let us know how it works for the RAID config. (You can just try to boot the CD, and see if it lists the RAID drives, without actually doing an install.)
  24. Odd ... I'll look tomorrow and get back to you ...
