  1. - It isn't really a advantage to merge the cabs but some prefer to have one instead of two cabs with drivers inside. That's all I think. - First nLite integrates the files of updates/updatepacks and then the slim-down begins. So the updated components are removed then. - If you remove WMP the shell media handler is also removed. Same on all other components that are related to another that is removed.
  2. nitro, many people will be happy if you would update the installation package with the corrected TrID Definitions.
  3. The definitions are working fine here! Thanx
  4. plz delete, doublepost. sorry
  5. Tried some other hotfixes. WindowsXP-KB931836-x86-DEU, WindowsXP-KB918118-x86-DEU, WindowsXP-KB924667-x86-DEU, WindowsXP-KB926436-x86-DEU, WindowsXP-KB927779-x86-DEU, WindowsXP-KB928090-x86-DEU and many others are treated as 7z files. at the moment I can't see the reason why uniextract doesn't recognize them as ms cab archives. I was confused because some hotfixes like KB905474 were correct extracted BUT this also works with 7zip 4.44. In uniextract 1.42 there was always a massage like "extracting MS CAB hotfix archive..." in the cmd box, now it say "extracting 7zip..."
  6. I'm using ur great tool since first release - awesome! Tonight I installed v1.5 and since then Microsoft Hotfix CAB archives are treated as 7zip files and only _sfx_xxxx._p files come outta there. Hope you can fix this soon. So long I'm back to 1.42. Edit: Umm, was a bit hastily. It's only WINDOWSXP-KB925876-X86-DEU.EXE that's extracted like 7zip.
  7. afaik it's not possible to do this by regtweak. Janerik, nobody is perfect. If you want to help improving the lang-file, come to german-nLite.de and do so! There's also an email adress you could use to make suggestions to sereby. I also found some parts which needed improvement and simply told sereby about them - he accepted and thanked me. BTT : Great work nuhi! Edit: Forgot something. There's a bug in the burn-engine. When I create an ISO (~800MB) and then select to burn this ISO on CD/DVD ( in this case a DVD ~4500MB ), the size of the ISO is calculated too big because of the comma is set wrong. In this example I tried to burn an MCE of ~807MB onto a DVD+RW with 4488MB. This is the result:
  8. Oops ... thats an logonui.exe ... Can you please post the right one without MCE pic? Thx Edit : XPero, do you plan to put this one into XPize 4.6 final (maybe beta2 too)? Looks very great and I'd like to patch my german winntbbu.dll with XPize. If this is not planed, maybe antonio_king can provide the resources so we can patch our localized files.
  9. You all should know that all kind of OEM CDs have to get activated over phone since MS decided that too much stolen OEM keys were activated over the net. They will annoy people till we all order free ubuntu cds over the net...
  10. You could take Serebys DirectX Slipstream that integrates only the newest files of the december release. You have to keep DX in nlite of course and it's a direct Slipstream no silent installer.
  11. Yes there is a german version very similar to booggys' one Indeed looking at his englisch version helped me to improve mine. You can find it here GnLiteWMP11-Slipstream_2.1.1 and there is also one on sereby.german-nlite.de. What about rebuilding in another language if you need? Just try!
  12. HI Can you tell me what your Unattended Switch is? YES oder NO..?
  13. Once again : Just dl the one matching your OS here and select it as a hotfix. You have to directly integrate - what is nlites default.
  14. Yes, it's true. Just figured out yesterday while comparing my two partitions, one with a fresh installed nLite XPSP2 with WMP11 and IE7 integrated and an older XP with both manually installed. And Update.inf say: [DestinationDirs] CopyAlways.WBEM.Files = 10,"WBEM" [CopyAlways.WBEM.Files] "msfeeds.mof",,,8 "msfeedsbs.mof",,,8 Little bit strange these two lonely files in a lonely folder...
  15. Yeah greaaat nuhi! Framework lite doesn't work and the silent update wasn't noticed on german-nlite. Now there is a monster thread of screaming users: " Where is my ISO?!?" Anyway, figured out that "prompt repair" fails wehen MSAgent is removed with 'folder MSAgent must be copied to HD first...' error. Or has this other reasons?

    nLite 1.0.1 beta

Adding KB897338 for integration does delete all entries in svcpack.inf of earlier integrated hotfixes and addons.
  17. @Camerade Tux : What exactly is the effect of this? Mine does enable the webview ( no common tasks in explorer ) but your tweak doesn't seem to affect anything..? Sorry ... I don't see a result here...
  18. Hello guys! NLite applies the wrong value to that key and I still reported this to nuhi so he will fix this soon! The nlite.inf key responsable for the common tasks panel is : HKCU,"SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced","WebView",0x00010001,0 and of course should be 0x00010001,1 to enable the web view. So this should be the registry file: Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced] "WebView"=dword:00000001

    can't repair xp

Like hp38guser posted before : It's a problem of an unattended CD. You have to leave the winnt.sif off the CD and the repair function is available! If you have any customized winnt.sif for your install, then simply copy it on a floppy disk. So for repair installs the CD works fine and if you want to make setup unattended you just have to put the disk in your floppy before starting thr install. Setup automaticly searches for winnt.sif on a disk.
  20. Hi Just wanna tell ya it's not recommended to install the rollup by now. Severel w2k users figured out some probs after spr1 applied. Even a CPU overheating problem occured... I'm about to make an HotfixPack for Windows 2000 Pro which can be interated directly to the i386 folder with NLite. And I await the new SPR1 anounced by M$. chris.
  21. Hi Black! Just had a look at Riveras Blog a week ago...but now Server seems to be down. No matter : Greasemonke and Trixie is on my side. But it's much easier to disable the ActiveX or just type on simple Line in IE Adress Bar! chris.b EDIT: I'm updating with Firefox with 62nds since saw the link on nuhi's site.
