I put it in my list. Mimo, I noticed a minor mistake in the published update above...Last Update Check: 2009, November, 26 Last List Update: 2009, November, 26 HFSLIP 1.7.9 (final) (line) 2009-05 Roots Certificates Update November 2009 (23.0.2195.0) Optional KB931125 rootsupd.exe HF CORRECTION: The date should be 2009-11 (not 2009-05) Great job. Thank you ever so much for all your good work. Lilla

Mimo, I see that you added links for boot.bin and cdimage.exe - nice! You are doing a great job of making your list easy to use. MiMo, sorry but I have no experience with CDIMAGE 2.47 or 2.52. My only experience with image building is with IMGBURN.exe and I'm not an expert at using it but I'm learning. Consider, possible minor mistakes? "Replaced by KB976098 (Time Zone Update Nov 2009)" should say Dec 2009 instead of Nov 2009 on the update-list the date for KB976098 should be 2009-12 (it now reads 2009-08) KB976098 was added, but KB970653 was not removed Mimo, I don't see this on the update-list yet. Intentional? You are doing a great job of taking something complex and making it easy! Thank you for all your hard work. Lilla

MiMo, Here's an easy way to get boot.bin ... 1. Download boot.img from the link below... http://unattended.msfn.org/unattended.xp/view/web/15 2. Then rename boot.img to boot.bin FYI, CDIMAGE.exe at the link above is v2.47; the link I provided in my earlier post is for CDIMAGE 2.52 Thanks you, Lilla

Since you don't have an entry for SuppressExtendedProtection then you need to apply the regfile if you want to enable Extended Protection for Authentication; your LmCompatibilityLevel should be 3 anyway from a security perspective, regardless of whether you enable Extended Protection. This update looks like it was backported from Windows 7 and to me looks like it's worth installing as it's strongly recommended. It sounds then like the .reg file is good for home users like me. So I will install the .reg along with the .exe Thanks BUNCHES for the clarification. Lilla P.S. MiMo. Consider, add a link to Muppet Hunter's post #280 (at link below) if you think it might help others. http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?s=&...st&p=894020

RE: Mimo's Windows XP Service Pack 3 update-list Last Check: 2009, November, 11; Last Update: 2009, November, 11; HFSLIP 1.7.9 (final) Table 2. QUESTION: I downloaded file WindowsXP-KB968389-x86-ENU.exe to include in HFSLIP. I checked and found that it is currently installed on my computer; this was done by Windows Updates. But, should I: 1) use WindowsXP_KB968389_x86.reg, or 2) should I modify it to match my current reg entries, or 3) don't include a .reg file at all? I am a home user. WindowsXP_KB968389_x86.reg (linked to by MiMo) Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa] "LmCompatibilityLevel"=dword:00000003 "SuppressExtendedProtection"=dword:00000000 My current registry entries: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa] "LmCompatibilityLevel"=dword:00000000 <the Suppress... entry is not listed> Table 6. There is no download link for CDIMAGE.exe. I read that CDIMAGE is an internal Microsoft Tool. In any event, I was able to download CDIMAGE v2.52 from http://elitezoom.com/8-step-to-make-bootab...-vista-dvd.html Table 11. MuCatalogWebControl.cab is listed twice. Once with description Microsoft Update Engine, and again with description Office Update Engine. Is this as intended? Thank you very much for all of your hard work! I think you did an amazing job of organizing and linking all of these updates. I really appreciate it. I'm pretty technical, but figuring out these updates and what replaces what is beyond me. I've been using HFSLIP for several years now to use on family/friend installs. I love HFSLIP. Lilla

For a point of reference, I have MSDN CD containing WinXP Pro + WinXP Home, it is the original (aka Gold), service pack 0. I pulled the Pro portion and integrated SP3 using nLite, then I integrated the latest windows updates and a bit more using HFSLIP, then I removed just a few things using nLite. I used nLite to burn to CD. I used TomCat76's updates list (http://hfslip.org/hflists.html). After installing from my WinXP Pro w SP3 integrated CD, USBD.SYS is listed in c:\windows\system32\drivers. This is the only place it appears. Hope this helps, Lilla

I'd go with Pid=76487OEM This way you are making the smallest change possible, less likely to have problems. I'm sure you know this already, but just to be sure, your OEM key and retail CD are both XP Home or both XP Pro, right? because you can't mix the two. Good luck, Lilla

I had the same problem, I found the answer in this article... Unlocking WinXP's setupp.ini: http://www.thetechguide.com/howto/setuppini.html Good luck, Lilla

exBBoi - Dang, I thought I was looking closely, but guess not. I see it now. I am already removing the others that you mentioned, but I appreciate that you including them, just in case. Thank you exBBoi! mazmorbid - I don't use that many .NET Framework apps. But those I've seen that said they required .NET Framework 1.1 were actually compatible with .NET Framework 2.0. These days I expect most apps are written this way, and I would try to avoid any that aren't. And if I actually had to have .NET Framework 1.1 I wouldn't install it from the CD anyway because that version is so old on my CD, it is the original release. Instead, I would download/install .NET Framework 1.1 with latest service pack, or I would install from Windows Update. I'm going to try... * installing .NET Framework 2.0 SP1 (RogueSpear's RunTime) in my Step 2. * removing .NET Framework 1.1 in Step 3 Thank you for your help. Lilla

OS: Windows XP Pro 32-bit with SP3 integrated Step 1. Integrated SP3 using nLite Step 2. Windows Hotfixes (using Tomcat76 XP SP3 list) and addons added via HFSLIP Step 3. Remove components and add Tweaks using nLite QUESTION: How to remove NET framework 1.1 (...\cmpnents\netfx\i386\netfx.cab) using nLite 1.4.6? I tried unchecking all boxes in the Compatibility tab in Components in case nLite was protecting this component, however, even then I do not see an option to remove netfx. I know I can delete the netfx folder myself outside of nLite, but I would prefer to remove it via nLite if this is possible. Thank you, Lilla

or make use of the /i parameter Thank you so much. I tested it and it works great and makes the command line easier to understand. I am now using /i. Lilla

Tomcat76, thank you, that piece of code was the magic I needed to get the %SOURCE% variable. I figured out along the way that I needed to rename my batch/command file from .bat to .cmd for HFSLIP. Once I renamed the file to .cmd, the simple batch/command file I posted initially worked. Below is my final batch/command file with documentation for anyone that might have a similar need. REM MYDRIVERS.cmd REM Processor: Intel Pentium 4 2.0GHz REM OS: Windows XP Pro 32bit with SP3 integrated REM REM My DRIVERS folder is located along side the I386 folder REM This batch/command file will copy my DRIVERS folder to drive c:\ REM I will install the drivers myself. REM REM This batch/command file is used with HFSLIP (1.7.7) REM Place this batch file in folder HFSLIP\HFGUIRUNONCE REM This file was renamed from .bat to .cmd because HFSLIP expects .cmd REM During the XP install, this file doesn't get executed if .bat is used. REM REM below, %SOURCE% is the drive letter (includes trailing \), example: D:\ REM below, %SYSTEMDRIVE% is the drive letter (excludes trailing \), example: C: REM the \ after the 2nd DRIVERS is required; if omitted you will receive REM a prompt asking if you are copying a folder or a file. REM EXIT is required FOR /F "TOKENS=3" %%I IN ('REG QUERY HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Setup /v SourcePath') DO SET SOURCE=%%I XCOPY %SOURCE%DRIVERS %SYSTEMDRIVE%\DRIVERS\ /S /Y EXIT

I have a folder called DRIVERS that I place in SOURCE along side I386. All I want is to have HFSLIP copy the folder to c:\ I'm content to install the drivers myself. In nLite 1.4.5 I can accomplish this by entering this GUIRunOnce command: XCOPY %SOURCE%DRIVERS %SYSTEMDRIVE%\DRIVERS\ /S/Y Note. %SOURCE% includes the \, but %SYSTEMDRIVE% does not include the \ thus, this translates into... XCOPY D:\DRIVERS C:\DRIVERS\ /S/Y In HFSLIP 1.7.7 I tried adding a file a BATCH file under HFGUIRUNONCE, but it didn't work! Here's what I did... HFSLIP\HFGUIRUNONCE\MYDRIVERS.BAT MYDRIVERS.BAT contains this one line: XCOPY D:\DRIVERS C:\DRIVERS\ /S/Y It seems like this should work, but it doesn't. But, I'm thinking there must be a way to do this. Is there a way to accomplish this in HFSLIP, so I don't have to run nLite? And if there is a way, is there a variable I can use for the source drive, in nLite %SOURCE% translates into D:\ or the drive letter that contains the source of the install. I'm new to using HFSLIP, and I'm impressed with how much I've been able to do so far. Thank you, Lilla

Microsoft TechNet Installing Windows XP Service Pack 3 (SP3) Read all the posts written (mid March) by Chris Keroack [MSFT], Chris Keroack, Release Manager, Windows XP Service Pack 3 in this thread here. This is a definitive discussion of what can and cannot be done with SP0. My conclusion: It is technically OK (although not suppoted by Microsoft) to integrate SP3 into SP0, and install from the resulting bootable CD. However, if you install from a SP0 source, you should then install SP2, and then SP3. If your source CD is SP2, you might find this thread interesting Integrating SP3 (written in Apr, before SP3 final) that discusses integrating SP3 into SP0 or SP2. It includes a batch file to intregate SP3 into SP2 and cleanup SP2 leftovers in one step, doesn't use nLite.

I'm about to install Unofficial Win98SE SP 2.0.1 over my exisiting install. Please let me know if my procedure as described below is OK. To assure that my Antivirus, Firewall, etc. do not interfere, I plan to do a "clean boot" as outlined below before installing the SP. Run MSCONFIG.exe, choose "Selective Startup" mode uncheck ALL boxes under "Selective Startup" Click Apply, OK Restart the computer then install the Unofficial Service Pack. When done, Run MSCONFIG.exe choose "Normal Startup" mode Click Apply, OK Restart the computer --- Thank you, Lilla

apparently 98SE does do this if it properly installed on an ACPI BIOS i asked about it here - http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=39650 but no one followed up ...snip... USBMan.com advises that ACPI active can be the source of problems in Win98SE... Windows 98 SE USB Guide http://www.usbman.com/win98seusbguide.htm Excerpt: Removing ACPI ACPI active can be the source of problems in Win98SE. Windows 98SE automatically installs in ACPI mode if an ACPI BIOS is detected. Unfortunately, Win98SE does NOT handle ACPI very well and IRQ sharing with this OS is problematic. If USB is sharing its IRQ with IRQ Holder for ACPI Steering and several other devices you will need to install the OS in APM mode as outlined below. Reinstall Windows by starting the system using the boot floppy with CDROM support. From the A:\ prompt start Windows from the CDROM D:\setup /p i when D:\ is the drive letter of the floppy. If your hard drive is running from a High Point, Promise or ATA 66 or 100 controller, the drive will not be recognized at boot up and you will need to come back a letter. A clean reinstall is recommended

Currently, the Add/Remove Programs entry reads... “Unofficial Windows 98 SE Service Pack 2.0” It would be helpful to add "(remove only)"... “Unofficial Windows 98 SE Service Pack 2.0 (remove only)” or when clicked it should ask “Are you sure you want to uninstall … ?” At the current time, when you click on the Add Remove entry, it immediately uninstalls. I clicked on the uninstall to see if it might offer me the option of uninstalling Metapad and restoring NotePad. The result was that it uninstalled SP2, but did not restore Notepad. Not a biggie, I'm sure there is a way to restore Notepad. But thought I would offer this small idea as a result of my experience. Unofficial Service Pack 2.0 is W-O-N-D-E-R-F-U-L! Thank you very much! Lilla
