  1. Thanks for your advice. Will goto that forum right now.
  2. Has anyone had time to make a switchless installer for Adobe 7.05. If anyone knows how it is done I will gladly do it and test it. Bigbrit
  3. Look at the following web site. I have one and it works really well. If buying try Cyberguys.com, cheaper. https://www.canarywireless.com/shop/shopdis...%2DFi+Detectors
  4. A really good (Free) Calendar/To-Do/Schedule/Contact program is: http://www.essentialpim.com/ They have a stand alone free version and a network shareable version for $29.95 I think. I have several users who use it and like it.
  5. I assume you want to make a DOS boot CD to boot to a Novell network or similar. Create your BOOTABLE floppy as you want it to work. In Nero and Roxio there is an option of creating a Bootable CD from a floppy, this is what you want. You only get 1.44 megs. If you have other files the floppy needs you need a generic SYS file in the Config.sys and Mscdex in the Autoexec.bat with a specific drive letter for the CD-ROM. You can load another 690 megs onto the CD section that can be referenced by a drive letter i.e. L: that the Autoexec.bat can call. I use this method every day to create images on my Novell server. Logs me in and maps my drives. I use the old DOS Config.sys menu system to show 9 Nic's that I can use. Takes some work to figure it all out, that's what makes it all fun. Use CDR/W's as you will screw up several times. Hope this helps
  6. It says "not available" Sorry to disapoint, I would like to have tried it.
  7. I looked at the specs and was impressed. Does all the things that Outlook does and more. When I tried to do a download it said it was "unavailable" I would like to try it but they won't let me. It's nice to praise a product on the forum's but when it's not there for people to try !!!!!!!!
  8. Patience is a virtue. The only thing you get in a hurry is children. Windows XP does "some houskeeping" as it closes down. I also use SafeXP (http://www.theorica.net/safexp.htm) and check "clear pagefile on shutdown" as an option. It slows the shutdown but really helps when the PC reboots and is working. Give SafeXP a try, there are lots of options.
  9. In the BIOS under "Power Management" check you have "ACPI" turned on and "Power Saving" should also be turned on. Hope this works for you.
  10. Try the link below for the book, Barnes & Noble http://search.barnesandnoble.com/booksearc...n=9780782141306
  11. As the above members correctly point out: Most case fans are 80mm (25mm=1") I would agree with the push/pull idea and try to mount a fan at the front of the case BLOWING air over the hard drive. Heat is the biggest killer of hardware. Place 1 or 2 fans at the back of the case to DRAWING AIR OUT of the case. Check that where air is drawn in at the front of the case, usually at the bottom of the front cover has enough "opening" space for the quantity of air you will be moving. I have often put my Dremel or similar to work opening up the plastic inlet area. Hope this helps. Comments anyone ?
  12. Could be the power supply that is down on power output (try a 350 watt+) or as mentioned previously a CPU fan problem. If it is the fan and you never want to change it again, look at the: Zalman CNPS7000-CU or the 7700 (even bigger) Massive copper fan with a big fan a 775 pin adaptor when you decide to upgrade. BigBrit
  13. It may be the power supply is bad or down on power. If the MB has the "Standard" power connections i.e. 20 pin and the small 4 pin (check that one is always plugged in) try putting a regular 300watt+ power supply at the side of your case and use that one to test. Try booting to the BIOS and stay there. If the PC does not shutdown in the BIOS it may be a memory problem, Try Memtest86+ ver 1.55. Hope this helps BigBrit
