  1. Thanks, Crahak/allen2. I try it out ...
  2. Hi, I installed Windows 2003 Std. Edition (Box Packed) on one of my client's server sometime in June. The server does not act as a Domain Controller, but is used as a web-server for an ERP application. So far, I've been administering the server using Remote Desktop (mstsc.exe). However, when I tried connecting to the server yesterday using MSTSC.exe, it gave me an error message that said "The remote session was disconnected because there are no Terminal Server license servers available to provide a license. Please contact the server administrator" I guess this is a Terminal Server license issue. However, what if I just want to manage my server remotely using REMOTE DESKTOP, and not use it as a proper Terminal server ? Do I still need a TERMINAL SERVER CAL? If not, how do I connect to the server using Remote Desktop, without getting the above error message ?
  3. Hi bbbngowc, Try the following method in VBScript : - WshShell.Sendkeys "{keyname}" For example to specify CTRL and C, the code would be object.SendKeys "^C" and for SHIFT F5 object.SendKeys "+{F5}". To specify multiple combination sets such as ALT A Z, you use parentheses, for example, object.SendKeys "%(AZ)".
  4. Your right, re-directing the output to a txt file works for most command, except a few. What command are you trying it with ?
  5. Hi Ctrl-X, I've attached the result generated by GPresults.exe, for the user. The username is LtdAdmin. This is the user for whom I want to permit access to modify network settings on any of the workstations on the Domain. A few things I think you should know when reading the GPresults The Domain name is Crest.com The servername is Crestserv01.Crest.com The general blanket group policy for all computers, and users is Crest Group Policy The group policy that permits LtdAdmin to modify network settings is Limited Admin's Group Policy. I have placed this GP above the generic group policy : Crest Group Policy The name of the file generated by GPresult.exe is LtdadminPol.txt I hope this info helps. If you require any further info, please do let me know. Thanks ! LtdadminPol.txt
  6. Yes Hons, I tried that, but it did not work. It seems to be some over-sight on my behalf, but I cannot figure out what.

  12. Hey Ctrl-X, thanx for yer response m8. I performed all the steps you mentioned in yer last post. Yes, the new GPO is listed above the original one. I found out that all users/groups except the admins, and Network Configurations Group are denied acccess to Network Settings. So, I addded the user to the Network Configurations Group, but that did not make any difference either. The only settings that I made in the new GPO are under Userconfiguration\Administrative Templates\Network\Network Connections.
  13. Anyone ??
  14. Hi Dping28, Check this link out. It may be of some help : - http://www.windowsecurity.com/articles/Imp...nt-Lockout.html
  15. Hi Ctrl-X, I followed the steps u mentioned above to apply GPO filtering on a particular user. However, when that user logs onto any workstation, and tries accessing the properties on a LAN connection to change the IP addres, he gets a message saying that access to the property page is restricted. I have created a new GPO with necessary settings under "User sConfiguration" , to allow access to the network settings.
  16. Hi bonestonne, Blue screen errors while attempting to install Windows XP are generally caused by hardware or media problems. The most common being faulty memory chips. First, check the WinXP installation CD, and clean or replace it if necessary. If that does not help then test your system memory for errors with a diagnostic program such as MEMTEST. If thers no problem with the memory, check the hard-disk. Almost every HDD manufacturer has a HDD diag utility. If no errors were found in memory or with the hard disk, you need to ensure that your processor is not overheating. Make sure the fan on the heatsink is in working order and reboot the computer, pressing DEL repeatedly on startup to go into the BIOS setup screen. Let your PC run on this screen for an hour or so, checking back to make sure it has not crashed. If a PC crashes on the BIOS screen, it generally means the processor is overheating for one reason or another. I hope the above mentioned steps help you diagnose the exact problem.
  17. Have you checked for any suspicious messages in the EVENTVIEWER ?
  18. Try adding the command "Exit" at the end of the batch file.
  19. Taking into consideration that u're using IE with WinXP - Check your firewall settings, check to see if the SSL, TLS options are ticked, in the IE Advanced options. Clear the SSL State, under IE Content. Make sure that you have the latest version of IE, that support 128 bit encryption. You can find out the version along with encryption under IE -> Help - About.
