Hi all, I dont really care if someone sniffs my packet. I dont want any extra crap running i dont even want to see it on the list. I got rid of the KB891711 update because rundll was running.I dont have a printer so spool32 can get bent along with another bunk update as far as im concerned. I hated xp for the stupid ports and universal crap was a nightmare to seal up and if you mess up your pooched and on xp those processes usually meant virus, unusual running objects scare me.

Thanks for the quick replies, I ditched the update for now and spool32 is gone, call me crazy but I think spool32 is letting "others" print my screen ? Maybe its a little easier to see what I'm doing with it running ? There's a law comming that must let law enforcment have a "back door" to ANYONES computer. I think 98se is a little harder to get into than XP and these updates seem to put "normal" XP components in my computer for this or a similar purpose, no ?

Listen, I have had these problems too on XP pro and 2000 pro, not just with this game but with allmost all sounds produced by my computer. I gave up and went back to 98se. I dont know what causes it but it really sucks, also my microphone would pick up mouse movments and other generated noise from my computer when I unmuted the mic and cranked the volume I could really hear it. Folks I know its nice to have XP pro and all but I think it really stinks and trouble shooting takes FOREVER ! Windows 98se reboots WAY quicker than xp and to test if the problem is fixed and reboot several times really sucks. I tried 2000 pro too and same thing. I dont even want to bother with ME so I went back to 98se and I dont think I will try anything else again. Even moving files is quicker on 98, I use VOPT99 and the diference in moving a file more than 10 MB's is up to 5 times faster on 98 than xp. I know all the xp users are gonna freak but its true. I allmost think they developed new drives such as SATA to make up for XP's suckyness. I found a old computer with windows 95 and was amazed how good it worked and it was a pentium 1 with 32mb of ram ! MY GOD what ve they been teaching us ? It's amazing how easily we forget a product because the "new" stuff comes around. Sure a 57 Chevy is old but trade it or junk it for a hybrid ? I don't think so !

Hi all, I did this update today, (KB896727) and now I have spool32.exe running all the time. I dont have a printer........ Is this update necessary ? Do you have a better way to do this cause I dont want spool32 crap running and I never had a problem with my computer anyway, thanks.

load without cd support, but first make sure to clear the cmos, set to plug & play os, assign usb and vga irq on turn off turbro ram. after it boots with no cd support, run fdisk and delete non dos partion. then create pri dos, restart again and go without cd support again and format c: Reboot and go with cd support and it should work...........then type setup dont forget to do ide detect in bios

Now that I have reformated and did my 98se back-up, WITHOUT the unoficial service pack, its better. I dont know what it is but when I do that instal, I start losing stuff. My system properties used to say "amd 2400+..........etc. After the update it only said the ram:640 That sucked. I find if I do the min. swap file and the disk cache on medium, it rocks. Its actually like a well oiled machine while xp seemed like its controlled by onstar. I really like being able to spot a scARY FILE TOO. Xp has a gig and a half of dll's alone........goodluck. I think 98se was ahead of its time PS: 31 seconds on spybot search & destroy 1.4 on the full file search 27478 bot checks

I just spent the weekend trying 2000pro and the weekend before that trying XPpro SP2. THEY SUCK !! There is no other word for them. ntfs format crap, open ports, file sharing garbage. I WILL NEVER GO BACK Spybot takes 41 seconds with 98se.And when I delete something, its deleted ! As for restoring, scanreg /restore works fine. Windows 98se ROCKS, if Microsoft had any brains like they had in 98 they would bring out a "98 platinum " Dude that says Xp is far superior is wack.

Hi all, thanks for your posts, I had WinXP sp2........ and i was fine in ntfs......then half-way doing a anti-virus update it restarted with no warning. Then i kept restarting, over and over. So before i get some bad sectors on my drive i formated. I tried fat32, worked half a day then the same crap. So I try 2000pro. fat32 workin fine but then my sound was crackin on some games so i gave it the oringinal yamaha driver, it said wdm and the sound wouldnt work and the game port was wack so, format. I'm on 98se and did the pack from u guys and its workin ok. I had some of this already cause i used winzip on the installer and custom picked some goodies. But I did the full instal except 2000 scheme. I still have 2000pro but I'm not sure if it's better or not. Maybe its something in the bios ?

I'm dying to try this but it needs to be put on CD's an I dont have a burner. Anyone have any clue if its good or bad ? Does yahoo work on it or GTA 3 ?

Well thats not all, theres the security issues and file sharing stuff to disable,I think I might stick with 98se its working pretty good.

I did the pack and my system file checker says notepad.exe is corrupt ????????

I'm using 98se with no problems........but I wouldnt mind a lil tweak or 2. Should I install the SP2 final on my machine ? I never did the 891711 update yet and I dont think I want to......other than that its all good.

Hi all, I got this new board and stuff and thought it was time for XP......... WRONG I did ntfs format and it figured D:\ was C:\ because all my other "crap" is in fat32 on 2 more drives. If that wasn't enough, it started restarting for no reason, restart, restart, restart, Stop, fdisk, format, back-up of 98se, copy, bye bye XP. Then I tried 2000pro, seems more like 98se, but the drivers are terrible ! I tried original drivers for my soundcard and they kept saying WDM. Format, back-up, copy 98se. Thank god for data lifeguard tools 11 from Western Digital Now I want a good operating system, what do I do ?
