  1. Sounds like you got your hook baited and ready for the fish to come in and start biting. bUmBleS
  2. Thanks Miko, I went with the one from Dalesplace. Just a simple freeware program. bUmBLES
  3. I was wondering if there is anyway to add the network connection icon (like Win2K & XP) in the systray? I'm not really interested in the dialog balloon, just the icon with the flashing light when you send/receive data. bUMbLEs I guess I should have made it clear that I mean for broadband not dial up.
  4. Seems to me that error came up around the time of usp 1.6. I think it was a problem with some files in the service pack not registering correctly. There was pretty simple fix. I did a quick forum search but was unable to locate the thread. Maybe somebody out there can remember exactly and find it. Might not be the problem, but that was the exact error I got on my daughters system after installing usp 1.6 something. bUmbLes
  5. Check to see if you have the Win98 cab files on your hard drive. If you do, hit browse and point the installation to those files. I usually install them in C:\WINDOWS\OPTIONS\CABS.
  6. Erpdude, I did uninstall Q912812 from ADD/Remove, then I applied the registry fix that you posted, however, I did not completely understand the other 2 support articles. UPS WorldShip actually refuses to reinstall on this computer now. It can't find some .ocx files that it needs to finish installation and it complains about not being able to create some Active X objects. I do appriciate your help, I just haven't studied Active X enough to get a handle on how they work. bUmBles BTW, what the heck is a moniker?
  7. These are errors I get when trying to run a program. This program was already installed on this computer prior to installing KB912812. This is the start up error. If I click "OK" the program opens, but won't function. error1.doc This next one is the closing error. error2.doc
  8. I installed 912812 update and now some programs no longer work. Under Add/Remove Programs I uninstalled Q912812 and the programs still don't work. I get a complaint that Active X objects cannot be created. One program that no longer works is UPS Worldship and the other is an automotive cataloging program. The programs worked just fine before I applied the patch. And uninstalling must not return my system back to its previous state. I guess I don't completely understand the fixes mentioned in the above posts, or if they even apply to my case. Any help in resolving this issue will be appriciated. bUmbLes BTW, this computer's URLMON.DLL is now version 6.00.2800.1525 (after uninstalling Q912812). The other 2 computers that we have are version 6.00.2800.1537(they both show Q912812 in the add/remove programs).
  9. Hi, Yesterday I installed critical update KB911562. It's a critical update for MDAC2.8. It broke my UPS Worldship. Thanks for the "update" Microsoft.
  10. kokoman, Are you asking if you can do a clean install of win98se in DOS with an upgrade cd? If so, Yes you can, w/o modification as long as you have a qualifying upgradeable OS. BuMbles
  11. <edited by un4given1> Just a little clean up...
  12. It does show up in MSConfig as KB891711 in C:\windows\system\KB891711\KB891711.exe It seems to be running fine on the 3 machines here at work that I updated a couple of hours ago. Although to be honest, we never really had problems with the original update. Tihy, When I get home for work, I will post about my experience with your update. BumBlEs
  13. Hi Tihiy, It looks like there is a fix from Windows Update for this. It came out today. I downloaded it a few minutes ago and rebooted. It looks like it is no longer running as a service. It still shows up in Add/Remove Programs, but not in the Task Manager as it did before. bUMBLES
