  1. my vote has to go with PerfectDisk 7, although it does not suport LIVE(you have to do it via reboot before windows start up) defragmenting of your Meta and other core system files. It does defrage the best in terms of space, (witch in return means less defraging). pluse ive tryed other Defrage software like O&O but even with its array of options as far as file placement its no where near as stable as PerfectDisk 7. Perfectdisk 7 is system recource friendly, only takes 4 megs idle and 18-20 while running. And the next person who post dont just say a name give a reason too no more name shooting.
  2. I have an idea for a mod for windows, no I’m not much of a coder, so I’m not knowledgeable about how to go about doing this sort of thing, but in windows XP you can click a check box at the upper right hand corner of the Add Remove apps window in the first box. Allowing you to see windows updates that are installed (mainly hot fixes) what I want to do is be able to add a divider so that you can separate windows software form every thing else. If this is in the wrong section, will a mod move it to the correct place (thakz). If this is someone else’s project (has already did this), please tell me.
  3. @Alanoll Iknow MSFN.org is not just a UA site, and that it is largly much more, and that the response would be no less than what you stated in regardes to the policy idea i stated. but i think that auto pm funtion has something wrong with it as i never got one (relating to the read the rules topic) But with that said, I'll stop bloating this theard.
  4. You should make a disclosure agreement that part of joining the forums , stating that 1. You should read the guide and 2.know the starter portion up to the WINNT.srf and testing of the guide by memory, and 3. If posible dl the pdf. i think its fair.
  5. Some one mentioned that Nuhi should make nLite more modular in that so it could accept add-on packs like a run once .cmd creator and app slip streamer, ect... I think that Alanoll for the simplist reason of not wanting to have to create a new forum area for nLite (ie: nLite add-ons and why they don’t work section) simply because it would take some work to start up and distract him from other projects that he is currently working (could be wrong, but that’s what I’m seeing). Now I’m not saying Nuhi is a bad programmer (never had an issue with his program, that was caused by a code fault of his software) but there will people asking and creating more work for both Allanoll, and Nuhi to take care of. Frankly though I think modular idea is a good one, whether or not Nuhi wants to do that with his nLite project is his business. I would hope that it would become a reality though at some point but again this is me. @Allanoll As far as the business of the FAQ and guides, I read them, I read a lot, and sadly in fact think a fair amount of decent guides and FAQ’s become lost in the forums, not saying your work isn’t worth while because truthfully it is, as there is no other forum network quit like MSFN.org (content wise), witch is an accomplishment of its own right.
  6. does any one have or know of a list for .msi windows based files?
  7. I've learned how to make a full SFX install out of the .net package from here , my question is this how do i make the netfx.msi file take on the properties of a type one hot fix? the reason why i aske is because i want to make the install act like theses switches /O and /N switches that the type one's have. Guese what im asking is this, is there a list of type two hot fixe switches? i know of the following: Q:A, R:N, and QB. Not shure what they do becuase im having a hard time finding info on them. ****Edited**** Cleared up my thoughts ****Edited****
  8. I had asked the same question a while back. luckly someone (Lolly) had wanted to do this as well, Lolly gave me the link to the best guide ive seen so far. Here, scroooll down till you see the first post made by jpeshek. follow the steps completely (its easier untill you get the hang of it). Make shure you have som kind of SFX creater like WinRaR or 7-Zip. Always use (_) and not (space) when making files and dir, it will make or brake your projects. ****Edited**** Gave credit were due Fixed minior spelling errors ****Ediited****
  9. ok, (i know im gonna get yelled at for this, but dont use xpcreate) its great by desing but i find doing it yourself is much easier and rewarding (of course withe the great help from the people at MSFN.org) start by dl the pdf from the unattended cd/dvd guide under referance. itll be a 6 meg pdf if you dont have it alread.
  10. This is a "You didnt hear this from me." sort of deal, but dont be suprised to find out that there will be porsts that shouldn't be open when SP3 ships out, of course us smart people will keep an eye on our own comps and there activities, but there is gonna be an ever increse in data theft (, and like i said before it will be due to ports that will be left open and holes in the OS that *couldnt be fixed*. What else to expect though form a compainy such as M$. XP is a great tool, but when left to the money hungry corperate minds at M$ its only a matter of time before a standard of ad-aware and spyware is installed on ones machine by defualt increases to a absine level. Ohwell it gives us a chance work on a master project (Windows UA) and leaves us with a state mind that we did something positive and that we have learned something new. its just a shame that the same level of intavation that is put in to Windows couldnt be put into a OS designed for all with a functionality match the best out there, but that is a dead fable, as corps like M$, Intell, and computer Mft such as Dell and HP will never let it happen (they have to much to lo$$). Thuos i turn with a trea in my eye and wounder, what would it be like if it were different?
  11. The sound problem that you speak ouf (both of them infact) are probles with every distrubution of GTA SA PC version. The crackling noise bothers me the most as it happens when i blow stuff up and when rains (why?), the lipsync issue is also very furstrating aswell. currently (july 7 2005) i have found no patch for the audio problems. Its odd that the only place ive heard any thing about the two problems is at Gamespot, in a pc review they did. i have a sound blaster 2 audigy with the latest drivers installed, a x800 xl AIW agp clocked at x800 xt speeds (also with the latest NGO 5.6 drivers). plus other hardware componites that can compaire. the other problem i would like to bring up is this: ive notice a lot of texture curption in the trees, and other texture surfaces that use a alpha blending method. What is with this. It has hapend with every other gta pc game (from GTA III) and there is no aparent fix for it. If im blind please tell me so i can fix it. Aside from these small glitches, the game is still fun, and worth of keeping.
  12. looks fine, just for your sake hope you dind use the permanet AS 5 version its a pain to get the HS off a chip. I use a creadit card or id card in a zip-lock bag and then smoth out the thermal paste, cleaning as i go with a que-tip. I picked up that trick from the [H] Forum. Good people there much like here.
