  1. @Sofer Oh, Ok. I'm basing my driver selection on whichever driver gives the majority the best performance, even if it lowers performance on my own computer . And some good news! My RMA'ed parts just arrived! And Finals Week is almost over! So expect the project to progress some more .
  2. Or switch to Windows 2000.
  3. @Sofer The purpose for using the 82.12 was because of claims of better bench scores and gaming speed. If you could link to the source of that claim, I'll consider it, as I'll always be using the fastest drivers available.
  4. Read on the Inquirer the 7900's aren't coming out until March .
  5. New poll for the week! What drivers should I add to GE? Any drivers included with XP, unless replaced by a newer driver, will be included. Unfortunately, I will not include every driver requested, but only the most popular drivers. Thus far, the Nvidia 82.12 ForceWare driver and nForce4 series motherboard drivers are included. I will not be adding support for legacy hardware, as GE is meant to supplement cutting-edge computers.
  6. You'll have to find every single file required for the Theme service and also the themes themselves, or you can reinstall with the visual styles intact.
  7. If there's no driver, then you won't be able to use the printer. Your best hope is to switch back to 32-bit.
  8. Yes, the one that comes with x64 . Think it's WOW64, and as far as I know, there should be no reason why you can't play the game on x64, unless there's a problem with the characters in the Program Files (x86) path.
  9. What's everyone's score in 3DMark06?
  10. Same here. Barely any increase in CPU usage. Do you have a very old processor? Even my XP 2600+ can handle Explorer pretty easily.
  11. Can't wait! When will you release the public beta?
  12. What do you mean by the program you use to play it? You mean there's a separate program that launches it? Maybe Steam?
  13. Well it depends on what you do. If you're an OEM and you want to bundle some software (read: malware) with your system, then this software is a dream come true !
  14. Explorer's just like that . Use another shell.
  15. Or you can just reinstall Windows .
  16. @Dirtwarrior Not trying to make you feel bad, but I saw that you uploaded my Mindows batch file onto an FTP on OSBetaArchive .
  17. @Dirtwarrior Sorry. I have to protect my contents...I saw Mindows was distributed on a few sites without my permission...*cough* Dirtwarrior *cough*.
  18. @glent There's not much except a command prompt...nothing interesting (yet). I'll try to get a screenshot of netstat with no opened ports .
  19. Really can't see how it hurts people's eyes, but since we can't reach a consensus, I'll leave an option to turn it on/off. Next question is whether I should use Explorer. Most people don't know that the Run/RunOnce keys in the registry that are commonly used by malware are created by Explorer. So without Explorer, you'd be safe against around half of the malware out there. Explorer can also be a memory hog at times; I've seen it use over 100MB of memory before. Explorer's only advantage is that working with thousands of files is easier. So I'm thoroughly against having Explorer, but ultimately it's the public's choice.
  20. New poll for the week! Either I have Cleartype enabled or disabled. Cleartype doesn't really make the text easier to read, except at insanely small sizes, and it causes text to load longer, but the upside is that your fonts are "prettier". Also, some game dialogs (Civilization 4 for example) are harder to read with Cleartype enabled. So choose which one you want!
  21. And if you want to be safe, reinstall Windows.
  22. @Dedogs I have no problem with Gdogg's comments ! @Sofer Can't really work on it until I finish the semester. My grades are a priority, this project is a hobby . @Gdogg Never mentioned this before, but I posted the link so that you would know about my project. @3-R4Z0R I'm already using an optimized version of NTLDR (not Windows 2003).
  23. @Spazmire11 MWX may be able to take advantage of nLite's database, but I believe that my project will offer even more customizability than nLite. Again, can't stress the point enough, but no one will really understand what I mean by this until the project is released .
  24. I'm not sure what your goal is, but my goal is for a perfect gaming machine that may someday serve other purposes .
  25. Hmm...think I've already given out enough information for today, thanks for the ideas though .
