  1. are those post SP2 hotfixes? why so many??
  2. i don't know.. /integrate option seems to be doing the exact same thing as if i were using svcpack method described in the guide. the option creates svcpack folder within i386 and then copies catfiles along with hotfix installers to the folder. it replaces svcpack.in_ with svcpack.inf too. so i'm not really sure if the /integrate option really replaces the files in i386. anyway... i went with the instructions described in the guide, used svcpack method. after the installation, i opened log files that hotfixes left in my windows folder. all of them had a error message saying that the installer wasn't able to locate catalog files..
  3. Hello, Is it necessary to install catalogs? the example on the unattended guide does not install catalogs but ones on the microsoft website does. [Version] Signature="$Windows NT$" MajorVersion=5 MinorVersion=1 BuildNumber=2600 [SetupData] CatalogSubDir="\i386\svcpack" [ProductCatalogsToInstall] KBArticleNumber.cat [SetupHotfixesToRun] KBArticleNumber.exe /options [ProductCatalogsToInstall] KBArticleNumber.cat
  4. ^ I guess i wasn't the only one
  5. it didn't say which driver, it just stops there. cannot even go to safe mode too he doesn't want to do fresh installation. any suggestions?
  6. Hi I'm trying to help out one of my friends. his winXP won't boot up saying some drivers missing. his winXP was installed using VLK. All I have got is XP retail version slipstreamed with SP2. I tried to put my CD in to see if it will do the repair. it didn't even detect the existing windows and it tried to do fresh installation (which i wouldn't let it to do since mine is retail version. don't want him to activate using my serial.) does the CD have to be corporate version to do the repair?
  7. used to happen to me too. do you have indexing service enabled by any chance? i don't know if the two are related each other but my problem seemed to settle down after i disabled the service.

    Sp2 Vs Sp1

Hello SP2 runs real slow on my computer. I have no idea as to why it would run slow. I'm currently using SP1 with all the hotfixes up to date. anybody on the same boat? does anybody know of what might be causing this?
  9. you can only install on one computer. retail versions require activation... so you'll only be able to use it on one computer only.
  10. that is strange i thought it was going to be smaller?
  11. Click on the link below it should help your problem with slipstreaming Slipstreaming on a computer running 2000
  12. it probably is OEM disc you are slipstreaming on. you have to buy at least 5 licenses to get a Volume licensing key. OEM discs are customized by computer manufactures, are designed to work only on certain computers. virtual machines simulate computer environment. the disc won't recognize that it's your computer the disc is running on. this is why it's asking for activation
  13. I can confirm this too. it is strange...
  14. thanks for the reply. well.. i'm trying to save some space on my cd instead My CD came with SP1 integrated. If i just integrate SP2 into this CD, my CD will contain both SP1 and SP2 files. the CD would copy SP1 files that aren't needed too, right? I don't really want that happen since i'm quite limited to space on my hard drive, too. so i was thinking of integrating SP2 into XP original directly (which I don't have).
  15. Hello I have a retail windows XP intergrated with SP1. Can i slipstream SP2 into this CD? I know I can but wouldn't it be better if it were XP original (without the Service Pack)?

  17. thanks all I've made a batch to do this. =) running it at startup.
  18. hmm.. altering the original is illegal and the discussion regarding this matter againsts the forum rule too. that's why we can't talk about it. didn't the machines come with OEM CD? if it did, why not make another unattended xp cd for OEM? that way you can stay legal.
  19. hello just joined a few mins ago man this forum is awesome. just what i've been lookin for. a friend of mine told me of this site when i was looking into creating unattended installation of windows xp the guide was awesome and it went through without a failure. man, was it ever that easy? thanks to you all
  20. Hello, everyone I was wondering if there is a way to delete temporary files (windows temp + IE temp) on shutdown temporary files take quite a bit of space and i don't really want to delete them manually everytime i run out of space.. it'd be quite handy if there's way to delete them automatically upon shutdown. It may be possible through registry editing but I don't know where to look into. thanks in advance
