  1. I never experienced thatJesus that use to drive me up the wall. I had raid 5 array of raptors and the noise that you would hear sometimes would drive me mad. if you disable superfetch it disappeared though. Another complaint that I often hear is memory usage. I was rather shocked by this. When I installed I had dreams of an OS that would actually use the four gigs of ram I have installed and lightning fast startup times to applications I used most often. Never seen ram usage get above 3.5 gigs even with swapfile disabled. A little disappointed to be honest.
  2. After putting together a new rig i made the move to vista ultimate 64 bit. been using it for two months now with only occasional compatability problems. but then again to be fair i use xplorer2, aston shell and opera. same as windows me the os that came in my first pc........
  3. Yes I have 3 or 4 I also have Event Log disabled enable event log and tell us how it works out
  4. have you eventlog disabled by any chance? I remember having problems with a slow login with that disabled.
  5. there has to be a way. surely is alcohol can acheive it then we should be able too aswell :/
  6. I use to have the same problem. there's a folder called "Adobe PDF" in "Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents" If you delete that folder acrobat will keep trying to recreate it. the only solutation that I can offer is let it install it and don't delete it.
  7. I prefere to repack it myself. Using autoit to install it silently and 7zip to package it. This is the batch I use. 8. with nitro, install shield might just be a compressed .msi so look for a ".msi" file. if you find one (try running the install as far as licenceing window and then check your temp directory), copy it to a different directory and see if you can install with that alone. if you can the forum if full of different ways you can install it. what type of installer does "Kasparov Chessmate" use?
  9. I don't know anything about WPI but what I did was create an admin install. created a batch file to install it using "Dreamweaver8\Setup.msi /passive /norestart" and made a 7zip installer. I think licenceing and activation details are in this folder "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Macromedia\Licensing" So just register and activate it and then copy and paste the contents of this folder as part of your install to silently register and activate it. I'm not 100% certain but I don't think it changes from computer to computer so you can use it on any of your computers.
  10. it's not a silent install. also autoit scripts are too easy to interfere with. I've made a 7zip installer that uses an autoit script to move the files and shortcuts around aswell as adding registry entries. I've got it working perfectly with the obvious exception of it needing a first run to make the virtual cd drives and all the settings are in with the obvious exception of virtual drive details which are kept in "HKEY-USERS" So this brings me to my next step. how to edit "HKEY-USERS"
  11. http://www.sysinternals.com/blog/2006/02/u...at-digital.html most of it goes over my head and my attention span didn't allow me past the first 3 or 4 paragraphs.......... anyway you were right. none of it is hidden........ just a pain in the arse....... according to installrite, it changes an ini file in alchol 120 folder in program files. then it makes changes to the registry and lastly it makes changes to files under catroot2 in the system32 folder.......... I'm still haveing some problems with some of the settings but I'm getting the emulation and most of the general options the way I like on first startup. still problems with the name of the drive though........... I'll get it even if it kills me though............. or at least until my attention span runs out....
  12. tried that. Installs perfectly for me with the obcvious exception of it resetting to defaults on first run. Then When I put in the settings manually they stick? I read somewhere once that it employs a rootkit to hide itself. might that have anything to do with it?
  13. I used the sptd and then using installrite I created my own custom install. It's working out pretty well for me. the only problem I'm having is that despite putting my own settings in before creating the custom installer the first time I start it up it reverts to defaults. I can manually put back in my own settings and they'll stick but it bugs me that on it's first run it reverts back to it's defaults........ :/ If anyone can help me there i'ld apprecite it :/
  14. This is probably meaningless now but I was having the same problem. nlite couldn't intergrate the post sp2 pack probably so I use to intergrate ryan's post sp2 pack using his integrater to create my base and then use to nlite to add drivers, addons and slim down the cd. But since nlite in now compatible with ryans post sp2 pack there's no need to bother with ryan's intergrater :/
  15. I hate to be a pain in the arse but could you explain in a little more detail please. and how did you makweing the file to silently install it?
