    edit:  kind of does make me curious, what year/version did Mozilla switch from "favorite" to "bookmark"?  what year/version did Chrome switch from "favorite" to"bookmark"?  what year/version did Opera switch from "favorite" to "bookmark"?

    i kind of suspect that "all" browsers used "favorite" back in the day, hmmm...

    I got to give up on reading these dozens of pages but, while we're flogging this horse, before I used IE I used Netscape, and they always used "bookmarks." So AFAIK IE/Edge is the only browser to use favorites. Which was a hugely influential browser, to the extent that I regard the terms equally even if everyone has actually been saying "bookmarks" all this time since then.

    Welp - Chase finally lowered the boom this week, and it appears there are no XP-compatible browsers left that still work with Chase.com! 360EE (Chromium 86-based) doesn't work; nor does Kafan MiniBrowser (Chromium 87-based), nor do @roytam1's browsers. (I'll post more on those at his thread.)

    As mentioned above, your UA must claim at least Chromium 109 on Windows or Chase will flat-out reject your browser. (I found that Chrome 106 on Android does still work, so apparently 106 is "good enough" in terms of capability, and Chase accepts a "Chrome 106 on Android" UA even though they reject a "Chrome 106 on Windows" UA. An Android UA produces an unwanted pop-up suggesting their app, though; so I'd stick with 109 on Windows if it worked.)

    BTW, Chase.com also rejects Edge 109! I had to use a Chromium 109 UA to get in. Ridiculous.

    Anyway, with a UA that Chase will accept, you can sign in - but (except Edge 109) the next screen only has the header with no account details, so it's pretty useless.

    Edit: I experimented a bit with portable versions of UnGoogled Chromium. It appears the minimum version that works is Chromium 98, unless you use polyfills. StructuredClone at a minimum is required, but the polyfill contributed by @UCyborg doesn't work for Chase.

    Edit 2: Using some code I found on the Web, I was able to create a structuredClone polyfill that works for Chase on Chromium 97. I'll test it later and see if it works on 86/87 too. Edit 3: It does! Here's the link:

    That's cool. Well, not the part about Chase gatekeeping their customers, but they will do anything up your a** (on-line or in person) to make your life difficult and pat themselves on the back and tell themselves it is for "security."

    I've been kicking around in the lame-o world of Windows 7 for a long time now, but I might try this if I spend more time in XP world.

  3. Let's say I open the start menu and search for "stuff." I want files with stuff in the title. No result, big surprise. Let's "see more results."

    This opens the search window and displays more results, seemingly from the same location. Probably c:. But I have other drives and want to search them. So I click on search "computer" and then I get what I am looking for.

    I am tired of clicking on computer every time. I want to change the default search location. But I have no clue how. If you check the actual address when it's searching the computer it is

    "search-ms:displayname=Search%20Results%20in%20Computer&crumb=System.Generic.String%3Astuff&crumb=location:A%3A%5C&crumb=location:C%3A%5C&crumb=location:D%3A%5C&crumb=location:E%3A%5C&crumb=location:F%3A%5C&crumb=location:G%3A%5C&crumb=location:O%3A%5C&crumb=location:csc%3A%2F%2F{S-1-5-21-1637662044-228854718-1217829781-1000}"

    I looked for "search-ms" in the registry hoping for a default search key and, well, that was fruitless. Apparently it just adds a search term for every drive in addition to a search at c:\users\hunter\appdata (not sure what that folder has to do with anything, but it's in every default search window).

    Some way to make it search "computer" by default?

  4. I can confirm imgur.com won't render, many pages won't, a few will in v12 editions.

    Why are 13.0.2250.0 and 13.0.2310.0 being maintained separately? What is the difference?

    I think this is an XP versus non-XP issue.

    360Chrome v13.5 (which should behave the same as the referenced 360EE_13.0.2310.0) does NOT disable the screensaver be it full-screen mode or not when on XP.

    But the same EXACT profile of 360Chrome v13.5 ran on Win10 does disable the screensaver.

    Can you run Official Chrome v49 (last official for XP) and see if it disables the screensaver or not?

    I will later this evening if nobody else beats me to it.

    Daft. That feature was introduced in the stone age; people weren't having YouTube-screensaver conflicts in 2005 because of it. I think it worked in IE6, it worked in Firefox (at least after a patch) and I can't recall ever having that happen in Chrome - really I don't remember this issue outside of 360EE. I just checked in Chrome, screensaver is covering it. I have no recollection of this...

  5. Guys, how about this. Reviews on Yelp.com. Cannot read them. Map does not load, addresses do not load, reviews do not load. A lot of buttons on the site don't select when you push them. Pretty thoroughly broken.

    I tried a few browsers and nothing. Then I tried on my phone. Yelp will serve the first few characters and if you want to read the whole comment, and click read more, it loads an ad for their "app" which is apparently mandatory for reading reviews of anything. Seems like a real trash company.

    Can anyone load it?

    360Chrome v13 - play in Incognito window, without extensions,

    - and JS allowed.

    It did not work. I am unsure how to toggle javascript also. I tried adding code in preferences but nothing changed.

    Right now I am thinking maybe an older hummingbird build will have to do.

  7. Hi, hoping I can resolve a few little issues with Hummingowl 360 v13.

    1. Sourceforce's "style" formatting doesn't load. I assume it's some browser setting. Works fine in Russian v12.

    2. Github wants a new certificate. What should I do? I ran the cert. updater.

    3. Chrome thinks google.com is in Chinese. Which is weird because it's google.com, and it is definitely not Chinese. So something there is configured incorrectly.

  8. I'm grateful for the time that 360EE has made web browsing on XP possible, and it's not even over yet. Because 7 is inferior and it's all downhill from there.

    No, soon it will not be a computer, but a "Windows appliance" to access the web. I don't understand why...why did the web have to turn into a bloated turd? I mean sure some hipster websites, but pretty much most places you need to go, the whole industry, locks you out if you don't have the latest technology running, and unfortunately that has been s*** for the past decade at least.

  9. Oh man oh man. I really am old. I was using Windows ME at that time. A lawyer gave me a pirated copy of XP the next year I think. It was fascinating - that blue tinted drag window, the colors. The fact that it wouldn't crash ever. ME was fine, it was better than people say, but obviously half assed DOS support and slower than 98. But you knew if you ran it all day long you might get a BSOD, depending on what you were doing and how much you dared to have open at once. Not in XP land, no. XP would slow down but it just wouldn't crash. That was one thing I remember about it being different.

    And now it is time for me to digress.

    The future? Eh, not really sure. Windows 7 is...ugh...tolerable. But it's pretty bad. For me personally lack of certain video techologies like NVENC, x265, AV1 are a big drag in XP. It's also lame that new hardware just won't have drivers. So there's that performance cap. And let's be real, soon nothing new will run in it and eventually no browser will be worth fighting with on-line. So for me it's a schism. It's a beautiful OS, for me kinda the definitive Windows, if not 98/ME. But eventually I'll have to have one system to do actual work and the XP one will be for playing around in sandbox. That to me is very sad, but also to be expected.

    Problem with Twitter (no registration, to read only) in some builds... ("Something went wrong, but don’t fret — let’s give it another shot.")

    (Twitter.com and twimg.com: ALLOWED...)

    360Chrome builds (Regular for r versions):

    12 1592 M: failedScript ("Something went wrong, but...")

    13 2250 M: OK.

    12 1247 r 8: failedScript=polyfills ("Something went wrong, but...)

    13 2206 r 3: OK.

    13 2206 r 4: OK.

    13 2206 r 5: "Something went wrong, but..."

    This happens in 12.1016 also. (Russian)

    Feedback on your latest 12.1247:

    I ...am not a fan of the XP skin. I don't use it; I use the "classic" a la 98 style gray scheme, and the default EE 360 scheme is more or less not clashing with that. So an option to turn that off would be ideal. I'm having a flashback to tweaking Netscape 3.0 to get its huge GUI out of the way a little bit to display more webpage and less riff-raff.

    I'm ok with that; as well here with XP and 52.9.1 (hardware acceleration disabled) ... spoofed to:

    user_pref("general.oscpu.override", "Windows NT 10.0");
    user_pref("general.platform.override", "");
    user_pref("general.useragent.compatMode.version", "62");
    user_pref("general.useragent.override", "Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:62.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/62.0");
    user_pref("general.useragent.vendor", "");
    user_pref("general.useragent.vendorSub", "");

    Just caught this and figured I'd add my 2 cents :)

    Gonna give some feedback on my 360 @ArcticFoxie 12.0.1247_rebuild_3 in a few minutes.

    Wow, yes!! It WAS the useragent! I first turned on hardware acceleration (no effect), then put in an extension and here is what happened:

    spacer.png

    This is a video which should offer the "4K" resolution, as you can see that is not in the list offered to me.

    spacer.png

    Exact same place, reloaded the tab after spoofing as Windows "10" and suddenly the list keeps going?!

    Anyway thank you so much, no idea why my previous efforts at this seemingly obvious thing failed.

    And isn't that some s***? OK I don't know if any of you are not using a useragent switcher but apparently YouTube blocks higher resolution streams for XP.

  12. I have another question possibly related to EE 360.

    Here is a secret, known by few. When YouTube introduced resolutions above x1080 in 2011-2012, it worked on XP. But in a later update, either to browsers or the site, this functionality disappeared. The highest resolution that appears in 360 (or any other browser) is x1080. This is bad for me because I do video editing and need to see how things look at x1440.

    Useragent doesn't seem to be the solution. Truthfully I don't know what it is - those resolutions just don't appear in XP. For some reason. Browser - for the most part sites accept that this is Chrome 78, definitely eligible to load the x1440 video. Drivers? Doesn't seem to matter which ones are loaded.

    Any ideas?

    Yeah, the thing about that theme you are using is that it has a very little animation for the refresh button (only 4 frames). You might want to change to the "Chrome" theme that has a larger animation integrated.

    To change it go to the "User Data --> Default" path and search for a file called "Preferences". Open it with a Text Editor and then search for a "jisu9" entry (if I remember correctly there is only one) and change the "jisu9" entry by "jisu9_chrome" (or to "jisu9_dark" for the dark theme if you want to test it).

    Cheers.

    Works like magic. Thanks Humming Owl :)

    I don't know what this is called. I have the mouse over the refresh button. Note it is highlighted in square. When I load a page, it becomes an X (stop). When the page is loaded it goes back to that static icon.

    About travelocity: Thank you all, I was being an id***, adguard was preventing the page from loading for some dumb reason. :)

  15. Not trying to rub salt anywhere but does this not demonstate why being dependent on a platform like Steam is a bad idea? Buy from GOG, get your local copy, f*** those guys making you log in and connect to access your own software.

    I was leery enough of GameSpy arcade, not that it wasn't very nice, and I am surprised at how badly its closure was managed, but when it did some games became unplayable - at least in client.
