I reorganized the contents of cmalex's distribution of Python 3.8.13 and made a simple batch file to install it along with shortcuts, file associations and environment variables. You can download it here: File: Python 3.8.1350 For XP.7z (4Shared) File: Python 3.8.1350 For XP.7z (Google Drive) MD5: F7F1C486DDAEB417B0D46431947D3E18 SHA-1: CD5876AFD726029F713451E9F15AACB230CCB3EE SHA-256: C05D4F6F092565DEB8C7E89F9DB763605841FA865767936B945B9374F3E98AB6 Build Date: 14/07/2022 Size: 42.8 MB I intend to make a proper installer one day, but at least in this form you can see what is included and make modifications to suit your needs. Enclosed are batch files to temporarily set environment variables if you want to run more than one version of Python on a drive. Note: 4Shared is blocked in the UK. My Windows XP OS Addons and Update Pack (2023)

I see your point about the text strings in the INF file not being translated. For instance the line "Export data from the current database into a Lotus 1-2-3 version 2 file. This process will overwrite data if exported to an existing file." should be "Exportar datos de la base de datos activa a un archivo de Lotus 1-2-3 versión 2. Si el archivo de destino ya existe, este proceso sobrescribirá los datos." Also the line HKLM,"SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Jet\4.0\Engines\Xbase","win32",0x0,"D:\WINDOWS\system32\msxbde40.dll" should be HKLM,"SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Jet\4.0\Engines\Xbase","win32",0x0,"%11%\msxbde40.dll" The text string error occured because I reused the 5erPOSUp.inf file from my original English build of the POSReady update pack, rather than rebuild it anew by installing each Microsoft Spanish update and logging the changes. Because I use the entries from logs of the changes made by the update installers the path error was included in my 5erPOSUp.inf file. Thanks for pointing this out. I shall make the required revisions to 5erPOSUp.inf and reupload my Spanish POSReady update pack. Edit: I have also attempted to translate the {Strings] section into Spanish as best I can using Google Translate.- 92 replies

I downloaded pywin32-300-cp38-cp38-win32.whl from pypi.org and extracted win32ui.pyd, but Dependency Walker did not reveal missing imports. You can try using this installer that I have archived for my own use using this link pywin32-300.win32-py3.8.exe

My Windows XP OS Addons and Update Pack (2023)

Here are the Spanish versions of the XPSP3 QFE Update Pack and the POSready 2009 Addon that I promised. XPSP3_QFE_UpdatePack for Windows XP Post-SP3 Combined (Spanish) File: XPSP3_QFE_UpdatePack_20231213_ES.7z (Google Drive) File: XPSP3_QFE_UpdatePack_20231213_ES.7z (4Shared) MD5: 16d754c9e434ae181007b561592d6950 SHA-1: 7a6d66f62f4e2093238fb47df45464f07e20ca12 Release date:13/12/2023 Size: 67.2 MB XPSP3 QFE POSReady Updates Addon Combined (Spanish) File: XPSP3_QFE_POSReady_Addon_20240101_ESN.7z (Google Drive) File: XPSP3_QFE_POSReady_Addon_20231213_ESN.7z (4Shared) MD5: fec168f42b828f0e6b9e76995127fca8 SHA-1: 5a69aec94ad94ad338e8eaf63e390efd4ef5736a Build date: 13/12/2023 Size: 34.7 MB The update pack will cause setuperr.log to show dpcdll.dll, wowfax.dll and wowfaxui.dll to be unsigned. I have been unable to remedy this, but a SFC scan does not show any errors. The addon works flawlessly when integrated into a professional edition source, but when integrated into a home edition source setuperr.log shows several OLE controls are unregistered. When you log into Windows there is a message about srclient.dll not found and the following error message is displayed: API error NTCREATEFILE. This error should never be returned by an application; it is a place holder for the Windows Lan Manager Redirector to use in its internal error mapping routines. I am baffled by the errors when the addon is integrated into a home edition source and would appreciate some insight into how to remedy this. My Windows XP OS Addons and Update Pack (2023)
Zorba the Geek replied to Zorba the Geek's topic in Application Add-Ons
Thanks for providing a link to this fantastic archive of all the NT5.1x final updates released in every language. Had I had this resource my build of the Spanish XPSP3 QFE Update Pack would have been problem free, but instead I found that many SP3 updates were no longer available at the Microsoft Update Catalog, so I had to import Spanish modules from the One Piece Spanish AIO update pack. The result is not entirely satisfactory, but it should be OK in practice- 92 replies

Dibya cannot receive messages, so I am requesting here that he provide me with the source code for his Extended XP, so that I can update it.

Kernelex uses dll injection, whereas One Core API uses patched Microsoft binaries. It also includes new binaries from the developer and has linked the Microsoft binaries in new ways which makes it more like a new operating system. The main drawback of one Core API for me is that it is built on the last SP3 updates rather than POSReady 2009 which makes it less secure. Dibya's Extended XP package also provides patched Microsoft binaries, but it merely extends the API of the kernel,so that things like Python, GTK, and OpenSSL can be run under XP. It also has the advantage of being built on POSReady 2009 which made it as secure as possible when it was released. The package includes an update installer which will update existing Microsoft binaries and provide a security catalog, so that they are not flagged by SFP. The package also includes the tools he used to make the extended binaries with a sample rebuilt binary and it's source code in the form of an .asm file. I am still waiting for an update.

My Windows XP OS Addons and Update Pack (2023)
Zorba the Geek replied to Zorba the Geek's topic in Application Add-Ons
Ricktendo's Spanish XPSP3 update pack was released in 2015, and can be obtained here. I cannot see any modules dated later than 2014. To update it I assume that I would have to integrate it into a Spanish ISO then install XP using this ISO, and wait for Automatic Update to produce a list of pending updates which I could install one by one while logging the changes. Of course the XP update server has long been decommissioned and an offline update is not possible because no-one has produced a Spanish version of an XP WSUS Offline ISO . I think my approach would be to collect all the last Windows XP and embedded updates, including those with Spanish versions, and use DXUAPC to automatically produce a Spanish XPSP3 update pack and embedded addon. The registry entries in sp3updck.inf would be taken from each of the update installer's inf files so they could be incomplete. Therefore I would copy over the Spanish modules into the extracted user_hidden XPSP3 QFE Update pack and retain all the registry entries in his qfe_updpck.inf except for the time zone entries which would have to be revised.- 92 replies

My Windows XP OS Addons and Update Pack (2023)
Zorba the Geek replied to Zorba the Geek's topic in Application Add-Ons
So far no-one has requested a language specific version of the XPSP3_QFE_UpdatePack for Windows XP Post-SP3 addon, and the XPSP3 QFE POSReady Update Pack, so I need not give this any attention until they do. On reflection I think I would have to obtain an XP installation ISO in their language, identify all the Windows updates required for the above addon and update pack that include language options, then install them one by one while logging the changes made to the registry and file system. I could then use these logs to edit the entries.ini and inf file of my releases of the addon and update pack. This would be a lot of work, so I hope they request a popular language like Spanish rather than Maori for instance.- 92 replies

Rather than require a custom INF file for the device the generic hardware ID WINUSB,USB\MS_COMP_WINUSB is used. In the Found New Hardware wizard there will be the message “this wizard helps you install software for: USBDevice”. Select “Install the software automatically”. If, after installing Windows, you prefer to use the WMTP driver delete the file wcid.inf in the %SystemRoot%\INF directory and it will be installed automatically. Note that WinUSB 2.0 has been included in my XPSP3_QFE_UpdatePack for Windows XP Post-SP3 above. My Windows XP OS Addons and Update Pack (2023)
Zorba the Geek replied to Zorba the Geek's topic in Application Add-Ons
Neither XPSP3_QFE_UpdatePack for Windows XP Post-SP3 20180109 or XPSP3 QFE POSReady Updates 20180917 were originally offered with international versions included. user_hidden did offer language packs that could be integrated using DXUPAC, but I do not understand how this was meant to work, and they may not have been updated beyond 2018. The only option that I can think of is to examine each update included in the XPSP3_QFE_UpdatePack and POSReady addon at the Microsoft Update Catalog website and download and open up those that include language options to extract the appropriate files to rebuild a localized version. The checksums for each language specific file would have to be revised in the registry entries, but I cannot remember which tool is required to do this. I must have it archived somewhere. I would be willing to create a Spanish version of the XPSP3_QFE_UpdatePack and POSReady addon, for example, if anyone is interested.- 92 replies

My Windows XP OS Addons and Update Pack (2023)
Zorba the Geek replied to Zorba the Geek's topic in Application Add-Ons
Remove Windows Components Preventing a Windows component from installing can be problematic compared to uninstalling it after Windows installation is complete, so I have carefully tested these addons for possible errors like missing shortcuts, missing files from WBEM folder, and missing WMI services. Update 14/01/2025 After a lengthy struggle I have revised the WMP addons to eliminate significant errors in the setuperr.log file. I have abandoned the attempt to remove WMDRM, WMV, and WMSDK because these components are so deeply embedded in Windows that it is not possible to remove them during install without breaking something else I have added a registry setting to disable driver signing warnings for those who do not do an unattended install. I have also replaced the patched syssetup.dll with the original after setup has completed which prevents the following entry in setuperr.log The file syssetup.dll was not copied correctly. The file Setup placed on your hard drive is not a valid Windows XP system image Update 09/02/2025 I now use the Harkaz syssetup.dll patch which eliminates all setuperr.log entries, and does not halt installation with a message about the battery driver not found. If you are troubled by batt.dll not being copied to System32 I have provided entries in the INF files which can be uncommented to copy batt.dll later in the installation. I now only offer an addon to remove WMP 9 and 6.4 together because they are so integrated during installation that they cannot be removed separately. Update 01/03/2025 An error has been corrected that caused these remove addons to be included in the Windows Components Wizard. INF files signed by nt5inf.cat are now deleted from a batch file called by the RunOnce registry key rather than the Optional Components INF file. All these Remove Windows Components addons have been tested by integrating them into a Windows source one after another and everything is now tickety boo. Update 26/01/2026 I discovered that the Harkaz syssetup.dll patch was causing the %OEM% folder to be incompletely processed, so I have reverted to the original patch and copied the batt.dll from the i386 folder after installation is complete. I recommend that you do not mix addons with both these patches. These addons are for use with the RVM Integrator only due to HexEdit sections. Backup and restore file, services, and registry security permissions I always intend to backup security permissions for Windows folder, services and the registry, but I never get round to it. With this addon commands are added to the runonce registry key to back up all the security permissions the first time the user logs into Windows. They can be restored from shortcuts to batch files in the Start>Programs>Accessories>System Tools menu if you are receiving Access Denied error messages. This addon is experimental so if there are any adverse effects from a restore operation observable through long term use of Windows they are not yet known. I advice making a restore point before performing a restore. Works with the RyanVM Integrator and nLite. My Windows XP OS Addons and Update Pack (2023)
Zorba the Geek replied to Zorba the Geek's topic in Application Add-Ons
TCPIP Half Open Limit Patches These addons enable more than ten concurrent half open connections. Useful for surfing and torrenting at the same time. For most normal applications 100 half open connections should be sufficient. I am attempting to use the python module for downloading books from archive.org that can be only be borrowed for a one hour time slot. For some reason the downloads are no longer working, perhaps because I have borrowed the book too many times. If I try to compile a saved download using img2pdf and the modified official pillow 9.5 build using python -m img2pdf *.jpg -o output.pdf I receive the error message ImportError: DLL load failed while importing _imaging: The specified module could not be found. However I have had more luck using cmalex's build of pillow 9.5 which is included in his distribution of python 3.8.13 under the Whl\Compiled folder. It seems to be completely different from the official build and may have been built under mysys2 because various dependencies are included separately in a bin folder. The following files need to be moved from the bin folder to the PIL folder: libjpeg.dll, libopenjp2.dll, libtiff.dll, libwebp.dll, libwebpdemux.dll, libwebpmux.dll, and libzlib.dll. The only problem is libwebp.dll is missing the dependency libsharpyuv.dll. I cannot find a 32 bit binary distribution of libwebp, but that does not matter because img2pdf works fine without libsharpyuv.dll.

I am having trouble getting pillow to work with the archive-org-downloader.py module under Python 3.8.13. After downloading all the pages of a book as jpeg files img2pdf is not able to compile them as a single pdf. Here is the output message I receive: Traceback (most recent call last): File "archive-org-downloader.py", line 227, in <module> import img2pdf File "D:\Python38\lib\site-packages\img2pdf.py", line 25, in <module> from PIL import Image, TiffImagePlugin, GifImagePlugin File "D:\Python38\lib\site-packages\PIL\Image.py", line 94, in <module> from . import _imaging as core ImportError: DLL load failed while importing _imaging: The specified module could not be found. To work under XP I have modified the import directory of _imaging.cp38-win32.pyd and _webp.cp38-win32.pyd to change KERNEL32.DLL to kernelxp.dll, and in the Optional Header section the MajorOperatingSystemVersion and MajorSubsystemVersion have been changed from 6 to 5. The same changes to the Optional Header section have been made to _imagingcms.cp38-win32.pyd, _imagingft.cp38-win32.pyd, _imagingmath.cp38-win32.pyd, _imagingmorph.cp38-win32.pyd, _imagingtk.cp38-win32.pyd. I tried downgrading pillow from version 9.5 to version 8.0 but no joy. Should I use the pillow compiled by cmalex?

IKEV2 client for Windows XP. Can it be done?
Zorba the Geek replied to Zorba the Geek's topic in Windows XP
AS no-one wants to reply to my topic I might as well give you an update on my experiments so far. I have tried the following VPN clients that are compatible with XP: SoftEther Draytek Smart VPN Tau VPN TheGreenBow Shrewsoft Only TheGreenBow 6.64 and higher supports IKEV2 but these versions will not install on XP, although it may be possible to run on XP with some modifications. I did try installing version 6.64 on a Windows 8.1 machine but I could not connect to PureVPN using the host name, user name, and password supplied by PureVPN, but no joy. -

Internet Explorer 8 These are my updates to the Internet Explorer 8 addons originally released by YumeYao and 5ereph at the RyanVM forum, and which includes the final IE8 security updates for POSReady 2009. System files are removed in these addons, so I have disabled their entries in sfcfiles.dll so that they are not flagged by the System File Checker.
