  1. no yellow check marks or not windows may not have the best suited drivers for them and may be using a standard usb driver i would reccoment going to the site of your motherboards manufacturer and downloading update and exact drivers for your usb. this might help might not but its worth a try if you need help pm me
  2. thanx for the honesty simonsays. i went and bought a nvidia card this morning for my buddy's computer.
  3. I am familiar with that board as i use it myself and it has a heat moniter that sets itself according to the cpu. Your chip should be fine and yes if you look at the schematic sheet that u got with your board (possible stuck to inside of case) it will tell u where the cmos reset jumper is. reset it and boot from hd. i would reccommend going to seagate.com and downloading their caldera dos hardware diag program (checks hd and ram) simply to rule those two out as a possible cause of the problem. I would then go to a pc shop and buy a replacement heatsink/fan mount (you can also get a replacement if the board mount is the problem costs about 15 canadian) replace them if the problem persistes pm me and i'll try to help you out some more.
  4. Don't just do the research to find the best componets make sure too look at the manufacturers benchmark specs and compatibility ratings for the other components in your pc. You can normally find that information right on the site. if the thread is old or not i figured i would throw in my two bits pc specs. 3.4 GHz HT 775 Socket (found the 3.6HTX to unstable inpast) 2 Gig DDR2 Ram (4 chips dual channel mode) Intel 925XCV Board 2x200Gig Sata (Stripe Volumed) DVD-Ram Drive (LG) CD-RW 52x32x52 (LG) GeForce 6600 PCI-E 256mb Total price - 2600 canadian
  5. I have had experience with mcfee and none of my experience were bad. i only say norton because i have found in conjuction with a decent spyware program (aluria) and norton system tools / NIS and a good router i haven't been hacked and havn't had a virus and havn't had spyware in months (that is not an invitation!
  6. I went through this one with dell once already and well they don't support 3rd party hd's or home networks for that matter. (just make sure u install a western digital thats what dell uses mostly and tell them u had it upgraded if you have a prob!) (caution 3rd party hd may void all other warrenty) note if u work at it you can normaly squeeze the hd in under the floppy drive but i don't recommend that as it has poor cooling in that area.
  7. Sorry forgot a couple of components. 400 W AcePower supply. DVD-Ram Drive (LG) CD-RW 52x32x52 (LG) 775 Socketset WinXPSP2 Norton System Works and all the other typical garbage! yeah i know should have used edit. oops
  8. The system i'm building is for a friend so money is not an object. Currently i'm looking at a 3.4GHz HT with 2 gig via 4 chip ddr2 ram at 533 mhz I'm going to be using a 2x120gb sata stripe setup with a 200gb back up volume. This is all going on the intel 925XCV board. (any alternate build suggestions welcomed)
