Hello!
http://www.geekstogo.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=121806
After deliberation by the Moderating Team, this post has been deemed to be spammish in nature and will not be allowed. We here at Geeks To Go offer a wide array of services for all windows systems from 95 to 2003. While your links may have indeed proven helpful to some, their presence here was deemed unnecessary, and they seemed to only be trying to get traffic to your sites. Please do not repost this topic. Hello!
Here is another recent thread at "Hacking for Christ" by Gervase Markham*
http://weblogs.mozillazine.org/gerv/archiv...he_late_98.html
And BTW, here is a thread about Opera and Win9X support:So no-one really knows what's going to happen post-7/11. But one thing's for certain; as time goes on and more vulnerabilities are discovered, defenceless users of 98 and ME are going to be at greater and greater risk.So what can Windows 98 users do? Microsoft's advice is unequivocal – upgrade. I'd agree - join the 21st century and get a better operating system. They'd recommend Windows XP; I'd recommend the newly-released Ubuntu Linux 6.06, which is easier to install, easier to use, more secure, and comes with thousands of pounds worth of free software. (Can you still find your Office installation disks? Didn't think so.)
If you must stick with Windows 98, at least install a firewall and get Firefox. But don't say I didn't warn you.

Nice discussion. Gerv will of course not get his wish (dropping Win9xsupport in FF2)> But everyone in that thread seems to be sure that FF3
does not need to support the old systems, which is also the official plan
now. That means Opera (9) will be and stay the only Acid2-test-passing
browser for those systems. I wonder how many people will feel forced to
migrate to XP or later now that MicroSoft stops the support for Win9x
completely - I think not that many, because they hardly ever need that
support anyway.

Hello!
IMHO no version of VMware runs under Win 9x. Latest version that
works in Win98SE is Connectix Virtual PC 5.1 (Then MS bought them...)

Hello!
I haven't had any good experiences with AsRock mobos... thanks, but I think I'll stick with Asus. This was maybe a couple of years ago, but now their mobos are of good quality!

Hello!
Regarding Win98SE mobos I recommend ASRock (they have some really innovative products):
First, the following mobo seems to be the ultimate one for Win98SE when released:
ASRock 775i65G (865G+ICH5) Rev. 2
http://translate.google.com/translate?sour...F139455%2Eshtml
According to this post there will be also new revision of ASRock 775i65PE:
http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showth...?t=97399&page=2
Originally Posted by ASRock SupportIn future we will have new revision of that mainboard [775i65PE that is]to support Conroe.
The existing versions did not support it, cause a hardware change is necessary.
Best regards,
ASRock Support
Alternative is to buy ULi chipset based ASRock 939Dual-SATA2 which can be upgraded to AM2:

Hello!
"It is much quicker"
Not really, AR7 appears to be faster because it slows down booting by loading most of itself at boot time.
which can be disabled from Adobe Reader 7 options dialog box. I hate it when it loads at startup. try running AR7 without their stuff loaded at bootup time. could be a difference in performance.
Foxit Reader is a nice alternative to Adobe Reader. There's even a Foxit Reader Pro edition (shareware):
http://www.foxitsoftware.com/pdf/rd_pro.php
I'm going to use the free edition Foxit Reader.
How is this working in Foxit Reader?

Hello!
is there a way to install IE7 in 98se?is it possible?
Not even in Windows 2000. Only in XP.SP2, XP.x64 and 2003.SP1
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/ie7/ab...qs/default.mspx
(I hope that there will be MSFN thread titled: "IE7 in 2000.SP4 with kernel updates")
BTW, if you have fast Windows 98.SE PC with a lot of RAM, you can install Connectix
Virtual PC 5.1 and inside it XP.SP2 and then IE7.B2 ...

anyone
It seems that MSI information is corrupt. One way is to cleanup windows installer
information, install office again and then uninstall it:

Another option could be this link:

P.S. (Off topic) Have you installed USB Mass storage driver for Win98SE?

Hello!
Remember Microsoft's free "Win32s" add-on for Windows 3.1?Of course: http://stephan.win31.de/w32slist.htm
I needed it for running Derive 4 in Windows 3.11:
http://www.chartwellyorke.com/dfwsysrq.html
Also Freecell was included with it!

P.S. Why there is no "Windows 3.1/3.11" discussion forum on MSFN?
