  1. Tried that and no that is not working. Where did you find that reg code, because thats not on my pc.
  2. Ok ive been trying this with %cdrom%\Software\ZoneAlarm\zapSetup_55_062_011.exe /s /i /noreboot /lickey XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXXX-XXXXXX %cdrom%\Software\ZoneAlarm\config.xml it installs silently, but does not register it. Ive tried time and time again, no registering. Whats the problem? Should I take out the -'s in my code?
  3. I have tried my uA WPI several times now on a VM, adobe Photoshop is giving me problems. It doesnt complain or give errors, it even seems to install silently, as it takes a while. But once windows boots its no where to be found. Its not installed. I did the abcpy.ini file, and the ISS method. The files in the adobe folder are: Abcpy.ini data1.cab data1.hdr data2.cab engine32.cab layout.bin Photoshop CS ReadMe.wri setup.bmp setup.boot setup.exe setup.ini setup.inx setup.iss setup.skin Abcpy.ini reads: ;*************************************************************** ;Adobe Installer External Configuration File: Abcpy.ini ;*************************************************************** ;*************************************************************** ;Main Section ;The (Product) key is a required key ;*************************************************************** [MAIN] Product=Adobe Photoshop 8.0 ;*************************************************************** ;OEM Installation Options ;*************************************************************** [OEM Install] DisplayWelcomeDlg=NO DisplayEULA=NO DisplayXPDialog=NO DisplayTypeOfInstallDlg=NO DisplaySelectDestDirDlg=NO DisplayCustomDlg=NO DisplayUserInfoDlg=NO DisplayConfirmRegDlg=NO DisplayStartCopyDlg=NO DisplayFinishDlg=NO DisplayFinalMessage=NO DisplayRebootDlg=NO ProgGroupName= DefaultDestDir= FName= XXXX LName= XXXX MI= UserCompanyName= XXXXXX UserSerialNumber= XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX DisplayBackGround= DisplayProgressBar= ProgressBarStart= ProgressBarEnd= ;*************************************************************** ;**** Program Files BlindCopy ;*************************************************************** [ProgramFilesBlindCopy] NumberOfGroups=0 Group1Platform=All Group1Language=All ;--Requirement Objects Group1NumberOfRequirements=0 Group1Requirement1=REGEDIT Group1RegEditFile=Extra\Extra32.REG ;--File Objects Group1NumberOfFiles=2 Group1DestDir= Group1Loc=Ext_Plugins Group1FileName1=Match.exe Group1File1ExpandType=Normal Group1FileName2=Plugins\*.* Group1File2ExpandType=DateWithSubDir ;--Shortcut Objects Group1NumberOfIcons=1 Group1Icon1Style=STYLE1 Group1Icon1Folder=$PRODUCT Group1Icon1SubFolder=OEM Install Group1Icon1Exe=Match.exe Group1Icon1ExeSubDir= Group1Icon1Description=Match Group1Icon1Number=0 Group1Icon2Style=STYLE2 Group1Icon2Folder=$FOLDER_DESKTOP Group1Icon2SubFolder= Group1Icon2Exe=Match.exe Group1Icon2ExeSubDir=Plugins Group1Icon2Description=Match Style 2 Group1Icon2Number=0 Group1Icon2App=Write.exe Group1Icon2AppLoc=$Windows ;--Registry Objects Group1NumberOfRegEntries=1 Group1RegEntry1Platform=ALL Group1RegEntry1ParentKey=HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE Group1RegEntry1Key=Software\Adobe\Sample 1.0\BlindCopy Group1RegEntry1ValueName=BlindCopyValueName Group1RegEntry1ValueType=STRING Group1RegEntry1ValueData=BlindCopyValueData ;--INI Objects Group1NumberOfIniEntries=1 Group1IniEntry1Platform=All Group1IniEntry1FileLoc=$ProductDir Group1IniEntry1FileName=AdobeSample.ini Group1IniEntry1Section=BlindCopy Group1IniEntry1Key=Match Group1IniEntry1Value=Match.exe ;--Launch Objects [Launches] NumberOfLaunches=0 Launch1Platform=All Launch1Language=All Launch1Type=EXE Launch1Program=Install.exe Launch1CmdLine= Launch1ChangeDir=$Source\Disk1 Launch1Wait=YES [LauncherApp] Launch= [en_US] XPExitMsg=This program requires Administrative privileges to run.%n%nPlease login as an Administrator or member of the Administrator group and then run setup.exe. 4. On second look I dont think any of my tweaks were applied. The only one I could see was that there was no screensaver set at startup, when there usually is. this is what I have in $OEM$ a cmdlines.txt file which reads [COMMANDS] "REGEDIT /S tweaks.reg" and tweaks.reg is in the same dir am I doing something wrong?
  5. Tested this out, some of the tweaks were applied, a lot were not. Ive seen a lot of posts abut people complaining that not all tweaks are being applied. Should I change how I do this??
  6. Ah ok, so leaving them in $OEM$ is good. When does it apply them though? Before or after? As I also want to apply file associations and doing that before would be pointless. Maybe ill just install the app and then have a reg file follow with file associations (using WPI).
  7. So no need to install it then?
  8. %cdrom%\Software\Visual_Basic_6_Runtime_files\vbrun60sp5.exe /Q Ill check my uA again tonight and see if I can find those DLL files and do that check file. Thanks!
  9. Thanks Mike, that helped. I was just confused as this is a cmdlines.txt and I didnt understand how it would use the textfile. So your saying to take that entry out of the cmdlines.txt and put it in my winnt right?
  10. Ok I have looked and found 2 solutions to this. I am using WPI so here are the 2 solutions I found. One was by Astalavista. He said to put the following in the $OEM$ directory my tweaks.reg file and a cmdlines.txt file that has [COMMANDS] "REGEDIT /S tweaks.reg" He then says that this will just automatically pick it up. While I dont doubt asta as he is vert knowledgable, I wonder how this works??? The other idea was to run the reg file directly in WPI as an app and make it be selectable. Which is the better way, and is there a better way yet or more proficient way?
  11. anyway of checking the dlls are on my pc? where are they and what are they called.
  12. There is a reg file in: C:\Program Files\SiSoftware\SiSoftware Sandra Professional 2005\sandra.reg it has this in it, still doesnt have my s/n in it. 15. So im testing that my apps are installed properly after the uA has ran its course. These I cant tell: - Virtual Desktop Manager - Visual Basic 6 Runtime I cant see them in the add/remove, or anywhere else. What I need to know is if they are supposed to be in the Add/Remove. the VDM I think should be, or I should be able to see it installed so I can use it. So this needs testing again. But the VB6 Runtime I dont know. Thanks!
  16. Ok so does that pick the first user profile then? This wont happen but if I had say 6 users which would it pick? As of right now I have this: Administrator Me All Users Default User So your saying if I used %USERPROFILE%\Application Data it would go in the Me\Application Data??? I dont understand what all the fuss is about thunderbird settings then? A lot of people said the info could not be sent as youd need to keep the same user name, but this would be fine.
  17. Ok so I cant find an answer to this easily. A lot of applications hold certain info in the C:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME\Application Data\ folder In particular for me: SSHSecure Shell & Thunderbird. Now I need some files to be put into the dirs on the machine, but the problem is unless I keep the same username I cant do this. Is there a way of picking the user? like C:\Documents and Settings\%USERNAME%\Application Data\ or could I perhaps put these folders in the ALL users?? Currently Im just putting these in manually after install. Thanks!
  18. does the reboot need to be in the quotations?
  19. During installation I get this a lot (im using WPI). Id say 2-3 times during install I get the bogus script causing IE to run slowly, close now or blah blah blah. Why does this popup?
  20. During silent install some apps that use .msi shoot up a msi window for info on switches etc etc. This window haults installation until i close it tho. Does anyone know why it pops up on some msi installs but not all? The following apps are the problem apps: Record Now Max and Alcohol 120% The lines for installation I have are: %cdrom%\Software\alcohol\setup.msi \QB %cdrom%\Software\RecordNowMax\MyCDPro.msi "/qn REBOOT=Suppress" both of these I found as the way to do a silent install but both show the msi window. Anyway to make sure it doesnt popup?
  21. I have VS.NET 2003 its an Academic version from my University, and I am allowed to have it. (i dont think the academic vers is any dif from the real except i cant legally sell apps made in it) The following are the cds I have: Academic Professional Disc1-2 MSDN Library Disc1-3 Web Services Enhancements Student tools Faculty Tools Prerequisites. thats 9 discs total. A little big... I know i wont need all these cds, and am curious to know if anyone does VS.NET silently or is this just one app thats better left manually? Thanks!
  22. Fixed the problem and fixed most of my apps that arnt working in WPI. Just a few more q's now to anyone who has the time. I appologize if some of there are repeats or newbie q's but ive done a search and I dont have the time to plow through 20 posts to find what im looking for: 1. With a few apps that are .msi I seem to get a Windows Installer window popup with info on MSI and possible switches. The installer stops until i press ok. Whats this about? I have seen some MSI files ran from msi.exec /passive blah blah. Is there a reason when to use that over /QB and /QN?? 2. For a few of my apps It is neccessary to copy stuff from my uA cd to a folder or copy the entire folder onto the new HD. Examples are my ZoneAlarm config.xml file. I need this copies. My Winamp Skins need copying my SSH settings need copying over What I am doing right now is this and its not working. Copy /y "%cdrom%\Software\WinAVI_Video_Converter_6.3\VideoConverter.dll" "%systemdrive%\Program Files\WinAVI VideoConverter" 3. I often get Script errors to do with IE, it halts the installation. Anyway to prevent this? Thats all for now thanks
