  1. There is an CAB Addon of Windows Defender over at RyanVM's site. Just pop it in with the Hotfixes if your using Nlite or if you using anything else use the Ryan Intergrator. You will have to rename the CAB to something like Defender_Addon or the Intergrator won't recognize it. It works a treat & is very ssssssilent! Hope this helps guys. Windows Defender: http://www.earlymorninghours.net/Files/WindowsDefender.exe Ryan Intergrator: http://www.whatcounter.com/dlcount.php?id=...egrator_1.1.exe
  2. As you haven't told us what switches you have used the only help I can give is this: /qb- PIDKEY=xxxx
  3. There seems to be 3 threads running side by side at the moment all basically about the same thing. Media Center is an OEM product therefore is meant for system builders. If people here are system builders then do your research as to what the system requirements for MCE are. They are quite readiy available from Microsoft but as I suspect alot of people here are too scared to contact Microsoft because they are using illegal software. It's people like that causes the cost of software to be be more expensive for the rest of us! As for how do I reinstall the codec? I think I've heard it all now.
  4. You're right! I'm not sure you need it anymore. Think you just download kb912067 instead after Rollup 2 INFO: http://support.microsoft.com/?id=912067 DOWNLOAD: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...en&Hash=D8GG4WC
  5. Thats the error message you get if you don't have the full redist of .NetFramework installed. If you have deinstall it then reinstall.
  6. You musn't use the RyanVM version or the Autopatcher versions of .netFramwork in MCE. It causes allsorts of problems like Rollup 2 won't install etc... You must have the full Redist version & Service Pack 1 installed. For a little bit of patience you will be rewarded!
  7. You musn't use any of the compacted versions of .netFramework like the Hotfix addon or the version in Autopatcher. They are not full complete versions. Download & install the full redist package & service pack etc. & it will all work.
  8. Well Media Center isn't lying to you. 32mb graphics card? I don't think so. It requires at least 128mb. Buy a new graphics card & also check out what the requirements for MCE are to save you any more heartache.
  9. It's asking you to browse CD2 to MediaCtr/I386 to find the Sonic.cab, MediaCtr.cab, NetFX.cab or Pus.cab. It says it wants Windows XP Professional Service Pack 2 Disc 2.
  10. If you have the MS Antispyware onboard it removes the adware before it installs. Daemon doesn't suck but the adware does but I guess they have to fund it somehow.
  11. Windows Installer 3.1 v2 CAB file. 100% works. http://rapidshare.de/files/12845427/Window...3.1_v2.zip.html
  12. You want a Dual View setting so you can configure the second TV/Monitor. You haven't told us how you plan to connect to the the TV (s/video?) or what graphics card you are using? I could talk for ages about Nvidia but that would be usleess if your using ATI.
  13. All Programs/Accessories/Media Center I would suggest you right click on the green icon & 'Pin to Start menu' then you won't lose it again.
  14. Firstly the .inf files are sitting at the bottom of my last post. Make sure you extract them with WinRar as instructed as the inf folder is hidden in Windows XP. If you go back to the Registry now does it say the DWORD is 0 again? Are you trying this on an XP Retail/OEM or Corp copy? The value can only be changed (& stay changed) by using a PE boot disc like Bart. Barts PE disc is very simple to make. http://www.nu2.nu/pebuilder/ After that restart your PC & Boot directly from your Bart PE Disc. When fully booted up select 'Run' then 'Regedit' & navigate to: Click HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE. At the top select 'File' 'Load Hive' then find your way to c:\windows\system32\config\system,name it “temp”. Expand the 'temp' menu to WPA & then you can edit the keys. After you've done this you MUST go 'File' 'Unload Hive' to save it. Reboot in to XP then it should say 'Media Center Edition'
  15. The only 'Free' DVD drcoder that I know works in MCE is DScaler. I havn't tried myself but it might worth reporting back here to let us know how it works. http://www.free-codecs.com/download_soft.php?d=745&s=391
  16. Your on the right path. Is your PC now saying 'Media Center Edition' in the System Properties after doing the .reg hack? To save you having to work out a whole list of the remaining parts of MCE just download these .inf files & extract them with WinRAR to C:\Windows\Inf Now go to Control Panel/ Add/Remove Prorams /Add/Remove Windows Components. In the list you will now see 'Sonic DVD and CD Burning' & 'Windows Digital Media Enhacements'. Make sure they are both ticked & click on 'Next' You will be prompted for disc 1 first then disc 2. Note that disc 1 must your original disc that you installed the PC with not the MCE disc 1. Then your done! I do this method because many other recipies the DVD burning doesn't work. Good Luck! inf_Files.rar
  17. There are no fixes of hacks to get non compliant cards to work in MCE. The card must use 'BDA' drivers & not WDM drivers. After a very quick search at ATI revealled the following cards & MCE drivers! https://support.ati.com/ics/support/default...ge&folderID=294
  18. Try 'The Green Button' or 'XPMCE' I'm sure you will get the response you are looking for. As for my MCE. No problems at all. Sorry.
  19. WBPLUTO is quite correct! Not all TV cards are compatible. TV cards used in MCE must use 'BDA' drivers. I suspect that your Pinnicle uses 'WDM' drivers. The sensible thing to do is to go to the Pinnicle website or contact Pinnicle direct & ask about 'BDA' drivers & MCE support. There are many other TV cards not on WBPLUTO's list that can work on MCE although not in Microsoft's list of compatible cards. After a quick look at Pinnicle site I found this: http://www.pinnaclesys.com/PublicSite/uk/S...nsumer+Support/ Click on the drop list 'TV Tuners' & select your model. It will tell you if these drivers are MCE compatible. Now that wasn't hard was it?
  20. The easiest way is to run it through nlite & create a new disc
  21. This update is included in Rollup 2. If you've not got Rollup 2 installed then try a few Torrent sites.
  22. I am using Windows Unattended CD Creator & wanted to add VB 2005 Express to my 'Software' list. I've tried using USSF to try & find the switches but it comes up as 'unknown installer'. Any help or suggestions I would be most grateful. Thanx!
  23. I have made various Unattended Discs in the past with great success. However I was wondering if using the correct switches could I install .net Framework 1.1 & SP 1 at the Hotfix stage so the hotfixes for .net Framework can also be applied straight after it's installation? Or maybe add the Hotfixes for .net Framework at the Add Programmes stage? I am using Windows Unattended CD Creator. Thanx for any advice & guidence!
