  1. @bigmuscle, read your PMs please http://abload.de/img/unbenannt-1cud8k.jpg
  2. @bigmuscle The problem occours always and always in the same way -> after windows start with Aero Glass, the 2nd screen (rotated) is black, the 1st screen is correct and when I move any object from the main screen (non rotated) to the 2nd one (rotated), it "washes" the black screen, the background starts showning in the parts of the screen where the object passes but the moved object is not displayed/is displayed distorced. I didn't try rotating the first screen...I will try it and report. Edit: I just did some tests and the results are always the same. On the rotated screen (independently if it is the main or the second one), the problem always occours: black screen, screen flashes when moving objects like mouse or windows across the screen, etc. - main monitor non rotated, 2nd monitor rotated -> main screen OK, second screen ISSUE - main monitor rotated, 2nd monitor non rotated -> main screen ISSUE, second screen OK
  3. I finally got time to analyze the log but I could not find any problem. Rendering does not fail and everything seems to be rendered correctly, so I don't understand what could be wrong. Oh...not good :-/ Are you sure this transformation is correct? Because it should be 1200x1600 (rotated) and not 1600x1200 (non rotated)
  4. @bigmuscle here the debug log for the rotated screen: http://ul.to/ysnejri8 As you asked, pressing F11 while moving some windows from the main to the rotated screen (in my case: 1920x1080 -> 1200x1600) Hope it helps you tracking down the issue
  5. @wifield I have the same problem with my dual display configuration with one of the displays rotated 90CW. It seems this was still not fixed on beta3
  6. @bigmuscle beta3 still not working on my dual monitor configuration -> same black screen issue on second display as previous betas :-(
  7. @NoelC does Aero Glass Beta 2 work with your rotated display configuration? I have almost the same as you but only with 1 rotated DELL placed left from my main ASUS main display and it doesn't work as I reported above. Although you seem to have surround spanning configuration, I only have exand main display to second display EDIT: @bigmuscle here a few pics/screenshots to demonstrate the issues with beta2 I posted above in #329 - Display position in the room (aero glass working on both displays with below nvidia configuration 1) http://abload.de/image.php?img=img_06634cx82.jpg 1) 2nd display set to the right of main display and standard non rotated orientation (nvidia settings) -> aero glass works http://abload.de/image.php?img=2right_non_rotateddulvk.jpg 2) 2nd display set to the right of main display but rotated (nvidia settings) -> black screen http://abload.de/image.php?img=2right_rotated5fzx5.jpg 3) 2nd display set to the left of main display and non rotated orientation (nvidia settings) -> black screen http://abload.de/image.php?img=2left_non_rotatedevx8l.jpg So, unfortunatelly I still cannot use Aero Glass with my hardware configuration
  8. @bigmuscle I did a few more tests with beta2 and got very interesting results: 1) Aero Glass doesn't work at all if the second display is rotated 90° or in any other orientation than standard (inverted, 90 CW, 90 CCW) ->black screen 2) If I choose normal orientation (non rotated) for my second display (nvidia settings), following occours: 2a) If I set the 2nd display on the right of the main display (nvidia settings), aero glass works on both displays 2b) if I set the 2nd display on the left of the main display (nvidia settings and my display position in the room), the 2nd display goes black and aero glass doesn't work on it -> black screen 3) as also on beta1, aero glass always works if both displays are set as "clone" I hope this helps you track down the issue. Tell me if you need some more tests Edit: The resolution set on each displays doesn't seem to be the problem (I tried same and different resolutions) but the display orientation and position set for the 2nd monitor
  9. @bigmuscle Thanks for ther Beta 2. Unfortunately, it is still not working on my dual-display configuration (same issues as before): - Second display is completely black when I start windows 8.1 - If I start e.g. firefox that previously was displayed on my second display, the window is not shown at all - If I move any window from main display to second display, the window "washes" the black and flickers all the time but it is not displayed at all or not correctly displayed Again, I don't know if this is relevant: - main monitor 1920x1080 (nativ) - second monitor rotated 90 CWW using 1200x1600 (nativ) here my log: [0x1A0] License code: 0[0x1A0] Hook (api-ms-win-core-registry-l1-1-0.dll!RegQueryValueExW from dwm.exe) installed[0x1A0] Hook (USER32.dll!CreateWindowExW from dwm.exe) installed[0x1A0] Hook (GDI32.dll!CreateRoundRectRgn from udwm.dll) installed[0x1A0] Hook (USER32.dll!DrawTextW from udwm.dll) installed[0x1A0] Hook (GDI32.dll!CreateBitmap from udwm.dll) installed[0x1A0] Delayed hook (UxTheme.dll!GetThemeStream from udwm.dll) installed[0x1A0] Aero Glass for Win8.1 Beta 1 correctly loaded.[0x26C] DBGHELP: Symbol Search Path: .;SRV*C:\AeroGlass\symbols*http://msdl.microsoft.com/download/symbols[0x26C] DBGHELP: .\uDWM.pdb - file not found[0x26C] DBGHELP: .\dll\uDWM.pdb - file not found[0x26C] DBGHELP: .\symbols\dll\uDWM.pdb - file not found[0x26C] DBGHELP: udwm - public symbols C:\AeroGlass\symbols\uDWM.pdb\30C7272ED65C4EE6A9778128E65E70642\uDWM.pdb[0x26C] Symbols loaded for udwm.dll as 3 (#0)[0x26C] DBGHELP: .\dwmcore.pdb - file not found[0x26C] DBGHELP: .\dll\dwmcore.pdb - file not found[0x26C] DBGHELP: .\symbols\dll\dwmcore.pdb - file not found[0x26C] DBGHELP: dwmcore - private symbols C:\AeroGlass\symbols\dwmcore.pdb\3F9BD655DE8740EA85CB67518CF763C42\dwmcore.pdb[0x26C] Symbols loaded for dwmcore.dll as 3 (#0)[0x318] Propagating user logon successful.[0x1464] Hook (USER32.dll!CreateWindowExW from shell32.dll) installed[0x1464] Hook (USER32.dll!SetWindowCompositionAttribute from explorer.exe) installed[0x1464] Hook (dwmapi.dll!DwmEnableBlurBehindWindow from explorer.exe) installed[0x1464] Hook (USER32.dll!LoadImageW from themecpl.dll) installed[0x1A0] Settings reload failed
  10. I think the new file on MSDN (Release Date: 10/7/2013) is: File Name: en_windows_8_1_symbols_debug_checked_x64_2712568.msi Languages: English SHA1: 8270D08104BF39287A6C6238574A31EFD8F8D2B4 Either MSDN subscription or Google or, even better, donate for aeroglass for symbols autodownload and to motivate bigmuscle to release the Beta 2 soon :-)
  11. You can rename it directly in your win 8.1 explorer to whatever you want. Startisback+ reads the string from the OS.
  12. For what I know, this is intentional for debugging purposes until the final release.
  13. That you cannot close the dwm window is intentional until the final release for debugging purposes. You can minimize it though.
  14. @Max128 according to your logs you installed the wrong MS Symbols file. MS didn't officially make the RTM Symbols for public but only for MSDN subscribers. You probably downloaded the file from Windows 8.1 Preview which doesn't work on RTM. Check my post #124 on page 5 for the correct file name and google it ;-) Uninstall the one you installed, install the one I mentioned on that post and try again or support bigmuscle with a small donation and it will download the necessary symbols automatically ;-)
  15. I just tested and the donate button works and redirects as it should to paypal.
  16. Oh, these are great news! Thanks for taking care of it so fast
  17. @bigmuscle I made some testing on this dual-display issue and got following results (I don't know if it will help you tracking the problem. If not, just ignore my post:-) ): Option 1: - both displays 1&2 set as "cloned". In this configuration, Aero Glass works without issues on both displays, at least during the several test moving windows around - or second display disabled: also no issues Option 2: - display 2 (second display) set as "expand" display 1 (main display). In this configuration, the mencioned issue occours: second display completely black and draged windows not correctly displayed on display 2 + flashing borders on windows displayed on main display. Option 3: - displays first set to "cloned" followed by set to "expand" with second display rotated 90° CW. This leads to an immediate dwm crash with minidump.dmp file (I can provide you with this file if you want). In my hardware configuration, due to the fact that both displays have diferent sizes, I use different native resolutions (mentioned in my previous post), but I did test setting the same resolution on both displays to see if this would affect the issue and it doesn't, so the issue is probably not related with this. Another "funny" thing is that if I set resolution and not rotated on second display, the screen remains black no matter how much I move the windows into it and back to the main display.
  18. Cool! Thank you. You also asked for my display resolutions: Main display: 1920x1080 (native) Second display (monitor rotated 90° CW): 1200x1600
  19. You need the symbols for the RTM (if you have windows 8.1 RTM) This one: en_windows_8_1_symbols_x64_2712576.msi (search with google) ;-) then, create a new folder "symbols" in your Aero Glass folder and install the symbols (.msi) into that folder. But only if you didn't donate and don't have a license.key. If you donated, Aero Glass will automatically download the necessary symbols from the MS server.
  20. @bigmuscle thanks for the quick reply. I know VMWare can simulate multiple monitors, but I don't know the exact settings. Virtualbox does it too: http://www.virtualbox.org/manual/ch03.html#settings-display Edit: For VMWare: Go to the VM hardware settings -> Display settings -> and set the number of virtual displays. here: http://abload.de/image.php?img=unbenannt-24xst1.jpg I didn't test it though
  21. Hey, first off thanks for Aero Glass and to bring back what MS removed. I gladly donated EUR 20 in the hope you continue to work on this great project. I just installed windows 8.1 pro RTM and Aero Glass beta 1 and it seems everything is working but I'm having a some issues with my multiple monitors configuration: - on my first monitor (main display) everything seems to work correctly but on my second monitor things are not displayed correctly: first the display is completely black and when I drag any window to it, it happens what shown on the screenshot (link below) - with this 2 monitor configuration it happens sometimes that windows borders start "flashing" on my main display and dwm ocasionally crashes (this only happened once though). - if I disable the second monitor on NVIDIA Control Panel, Aero Glass works without issues Now, before you start throwing stones at me :-) , I do know this is still a beta version, but as I didn't see any infos related to multiple monitors configurations (sorry if this was refered somewhere and I did miss it), I decided to register in the forum and post the issue as I don't know if this issue is normal in this beta stage or if I did something wrong or even if multiple monitor configurations are not supported. In case this is relevant: - NVIDIA latest drivers 331.40 - NVIDIA GTX 680 - Second monitor is plugged in DVI Screenshot showing the mentioned issue: http://abload.de/image.php?img=screenshot5ukud.jpg
