  1. I tried Server 2003 x64 Enterprise with my overclock and it didn't cause BSOD yet like XP x64. So right now I'm on Server, but it would be nice to find out what crashes x64 Windows

EDIT: Don't want to say it, Server x64 just crashed on me. I tried also Server 2003 32-bit, works like charm. So if I want anything with 64-bit I have to be at default clocks :(

  2. Hi there,

Here's the problem. I got AMD Platform overclocked to 2.6Ghz CPU, DRR589@2.5-4-3-6 timings memory and so on. System is fully stable, I mean stable (48h of Memtest!, 24h of Prime95!, every benchmark stable, Super Pi 32M Calc) The thing is Win XP SP2 work fine with my overclock. But x64 will cause BSODs (Mainly MACHINE_BUG_EXCEPTION) It's been proven that DEP (date execution prevention I think it is called) caused Win XP SP2 to be unstable, but when it was set disabled, people could get same stable windows overclock as they got in eg. Win Server 2003 or Windows 2000. The problem is that DEP in x64 can only be disabled in 32-bit emulation mode using AlwaysOff in boot.ini. I heard that DEP in 64-bit mode is harcoded into kernel. Is there anyway to disable DEP comletely, I mean completely. Or maybe other thing that is driving x64 nuts. btw x64 work fine when my part are clocked at stock and doen't cause BSODs

  3. First of all, you get a bunch of hotfixes, make a cmd, install them with e.g. /q /n /z switch. Then Take out hotfixes regs entries from registry, two common places. You make a .inf file to be executed within sysoc.inf with entries that go to registry. You need to extract hotfixes and take uot qfe type files, then cab them so they have ._ extension. Add .CATs so files are protected. Just study Ryan's pack. It's simple

  4. Anybody managed it to work? I tried to do it with same directions as to Win XP 32 Bit but Windows Update will freeze when I try to open it. It's all about the **** SysWOW64 folder. Is there a installer for Windows Update V6, in form of hotfix?

EDIT: Maybe in more detail, files in System32 are fine but I need extra 64 Bit Windows Update V6 files to put them into SysWOW64 folder to get it to work

  5. Be careful. I installed 10 to test it. By default it sets a startup scan which when you start windows it takes over 100mb of memory and 100% cpu , on my system it never stopped until I opened sav. then it quits. For now you can simply right click on the startup scan and delete, problem solved. I cant belive they put this as a defult for install. I am really starting to wonder about them.

So until I find out how to pre set stuff for the install like with version 9, I am out of luck to make this perfect yet.

i confirm that. VERY ANNOYING !!!!!!!!!!!

  6. Adding this to registry makes use of .mp3 format while ripping: (This was taken out of WMP10.inf)

    HKLM,"SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MediaPlayer\Settings\MP3Encoding","LowRate",0x00010001,128000
    HKLM,"SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MediaPlayer\Settings\MP3Encoding","MediumRate",0x00010001,192000
    HKLM,"SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MediaPlayer\Settings\MP3Encoding","MediumHighRate",0x00010001,256000
    HKLM,"SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MediaPlayer\Settings\MP3Encoding","HighRate",0x00010001,320000
    HKLM,"SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MediaPlayer\Settings\MP3Encoding","PreferredCodecName",,"mp3"
    HKLM,"SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MediaPlayer\Settings\MP3Encoding","PreferredCodecPath",,"%11%\l3codecp.acm"

This should be added to .inf file such as HIVESFT.INF. Anybody figured out how to regain all lost functionalities? If informations contained in WMP10.inf for WMP10 could be merged with wmp.in_ in I386 i believe almost all fuctionalities would be working.

  7. @Lucius Snow

If you got .infs working could you attach them for these updates:

    KB891781.exe

    KB890047.exe

    KB888302.exe

    KB888113.exe

    KB885250.exe

    KB867282.exe

    KB873333.exe

So I can add them to RVMUpPck.inf. I got files from hotfixes, compressed .cats, svpack.inf modified so no worry on that. Only thing that bothers me is rewriting .regs to .infs, especially pointing out location for hotfix such as %11%,%12%. That's where i get stuck :realmad: . What did you use to create .infs?

    Thanks

EDIT: Nevermind, I created my own
