They are ALL bought and paid for. The only real source of the news is forums like this actually. Although, they do infiltrate these places from time to time, they are quickly weeded out. As I always say, us techies are no fools, even though we allow others to believe we are fools from time to time. Special breed of humans I suppose.

Spot on, bravo! A small addendum would be that I think 90% of these so called MVPs are just on Microsoft payroll, maybe 10% legit. Most of them are those students who suck up to the teacher to get an extra star pasted on their books. I think the entire MVP is a PR thing that's why I never believed it. As you say, WE are MVPs. All of us, anonymous contributors and actually are, no less than "unpaid support staff" for Microsoft and their products. What do they do to thank us? Not a darn thing. They do know how to heavily disrespect and insult us, however. By doing very simple things which are so big for us, like removing the OPTION to have the aero glass effect while allowing it to be there in the taskbar in Windows 8. Right in our face, they say "hah!". This kind of behaviour is a direct insult and they know it. It is a kind of power grab perhaps, "we are your boss" mentality. No more will I accept this though. You know when someone (many) I know ask for help about Windows 8 or wants my opinion, I say "Sorry, no idea.". It is begenning of the end for Microsoft. The most important step I have taken is that to no longer develop any applications for their platform and I 100% mean it. I no longer do it. Some people might read this post and think of it as an extreme stand but history will look back and see it as a sane and proper stand. Simply, to hell with them.

I've read all the major "dystos" - 1984, Brave New World, We, Fahrenheit 451.. In all of them (except for Fahrenheit) the big brother regime came to power after either some disastrous war or through some kind of (forceful) political revolution. The authors were not cynical enough to imagine that force is not needed at all, Angry Birds and Farmville are completely sufficient for hooking up the people to Big Brother freely! I guess some day, the term "none of your business" will also be banned as "hate crime" or something. After all, you shouldn't have anyting to hide, so it's everybody's business!

These are automated bots guys. Probably spam bots. I got a private, pretty big website (top visitor count, 19.000 unique in one day) and from time to time I get a ton of these. I do ban the IP numbers, however. Otherwise they will continue to post almost non stop. Does not mean what Microsoft is using (and that petition website) is not a joke though. *lol* EDIT: These are new kinds of bots. They reply to the article with somewhat related material. Sometimes they copy from other sources. A bit creepy and odd.

Indeed, considering Google is not a tech company but an advertising corporation. They could butcher Microsoft in days.

Just a reminder to all developers reading this thread. This time, WE actually have a choice. Unlike the 90s. It is us, the developers who will make or break Windows 8 locked-in prison Orwellian naming "Marketplace". Please do not forget it! Each "App" you create in this Orwellian locked-in prison, not only will you give 30% of your profit to Microsoft. You also lose your freedom of controlling your own computers. With each "App" you make in there, you take one step closer to a total a locked-in prison called "Marketplace" where Microsoft dictates EVERYTHING. Remember, corporations are not charities. They are not here to benefit humanity. They are here to make a profit. No matter what. If you think they have behaved badly in the past, just wait until they have a total control over your applications. This also applies to Apple and Google, of course. Don't get too distracted by the gUI changes. They know exactly what they are doing. They are making a distraction in a weaker front to make war on the real side, which is the locked walled prison. Never ever forget, if you write a WinRT "App", you lose the freedom to copy it to your friend or another PC in your own home. You must ask permission from Microsoft FIRST, the forced to publish it on their Orwellian "store" and THEN if they are kind enough, they may let you use it on your PCs. For the icing on the cake, they will have full power to remove it from your PCs and everyone elses' PCs if they feel like it.Never say it won't or can't happen, because it can... and it will... http://io9.com/53177...from-the-kindle "Thousands of people last week discovered that Amazon had quietly removed electronic copies of George Orwell's 1984 from their Kindle e-book readers. In the process, Amazon revealed how easy censorship will be in the Kindle age." It the oldest trick in the book. Keep your eyes open and watch your steps, there be mines out there. The future if you allow them... dark... and very claustrophobic:

I had posted a reply "@wkempf: Are you suggesting that the above is sane gUI design elements?" ...and they deleted it right off! hahaha http://channel9.msdn.com/Forums/Coffeehouse/Wonderful-world-of-Windows-8-basic-theme When you cannot win using words, yeah, just ignore and delete them. It will make Windows basic theme better!

The beautiful double starter. http://www.foolsdesi...ic.php?f=1&t=12 If you have a Remote Desktop window opened up, try hitting the start screen in it.

Darn them then! haha

I thought you had an account already. Weren't you banned? Anyway, the theme is that there is "too much negativity" there (and I am the one of the main reasons - that guy in the link is an admin btw). So I don't think your posts will survive long there now. I think the only reason why the tolerate me and the few other complainers is because of habit. But if you still want to sign-up good luck. Beware though - EvilD is really persistent at defending MS at all costs. Well, they love to ban me, that's for sure. Cannot stand the truth I guess.

Good one! And so true. Perfect way to kick off your blog Do you think the MetroTards even vaguely understand the problem? Thank you! ...haha, I doubt they will understand but one can only hope! It will be easy to fill it up with a lot if material from Windows 8, because it's full of foolish design elements. EDIT: ps. I will create an account at Channel 9. I am highly curious how they will defend Microsoft regarding these foolish designs. Will report it back here so we can all have a nice laugh (or cry)!

Wonderful world of Windows 8 basic theme. http://www.foolsdesign.org/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=11 Fool's design.

I got Opera as default. I used a registry "hack" (manual edit) to fix it. Searched for "URL:H" in regedit as admin, find http and https, shell->open->command and alter in there. Then restart explorer.exe.
-
So, I would like Outlook to use Opera when opening URLs... check out this beauty... I am only allowed to either "Keep using Internet Explorer" or "Look for an App in store" ...Windows 8 locked prison: ( It is for my own safety of course. Silly me. Here I was thinking it was my PC rather than Microsoft's PC.)

Why was MSFN down yesterday and why is it still slow?

May we know the specifications of the server and the size of the database please? -
That is not only deception and obfuscation... it is also filthy, nasty, disgusting, rotten, ugly, vile and repulsive. Brave New World... one of my all time favorite albums.

http://www.neowin.net/news/windows-9-build-9319-spotted-in-the-wild-kernel-gets-bumped-to-63 "Windows 9 build 9319 spotted in the wild, kernel gets bumped to 6.3Windows 9 build 9319 spotted in the wild, kernel gets bumped to 6.3" ...bwhahhahahha... Windows 8 is sooo bad, I think they started to talk about Windows 9 to prevent a disaster perhaps.

Way too kind... I say top 2 years. As a matter of fact, I have put my money where my mouth is and am shorting DJIA like there is no tomorrow. I'm going red right now like hell but yeah, I'm awaiting the big crash. Speaking of alienating, spot on. The problem is, Microsoft still thinks it's the 90s... well, it's not and the Internet is full blown here now. Things spread much faster than the 90s. I think they are in world of hurt coming 1-2 years from now. Many of their hardcore fans ( like myself ) are turning against them and they won't feel it right away but soon... soon enough, they will feel it.

Unrelated but very related... http://channel9.msdn.com/Forums/Coffeehouse/Wordpress-have-suspended-my-blog ...WordPress shuts down his blog without any reason or warning. In the walled-garden dream world of Apple, Microsoft and most likely Google... how long before such things happen to small guys trying to become a big player? I'm a bit busy to write a long post but I hope someone does! haha... All these so called "app stores" make me sick. They not only take 30% of your profits, they also take away your freedom and will control you. Perhaps not now because they are not big enough... but just watch and see. Amazing how people after all the bad monopolistic behaviours all these big corps do, Microsoft AND the others... they still allow them to be controlled by these corps by using their "stores". How hard is it to setup a website? Really. Brave new world they said... well, it doesn't mean a brave new BETTER world... or atleast... not for us.

Unbelievable. This is from hiring a DC political hack who adds nothing to the company except controversy. They're actually gonna drum up sympathy for Google, not to mention retaliation. Real dumb. P.S. I didn't quote the Scroogled URL because they don't deserve any clicks. That is basically as low class, trailer trash as possible imho. It's sooo low. I don't like Google nor any big corporation pretending to be cute and cuddly but this kind junk is beyond low. It is the kind of useless sports thing "my team is better than yours", as if they themselves, they being Microsoft are such a cute little doggy. *LOL* ...this is them trying to push the lowest common denominator button, what they are missing is, well hopefuly, that techies are smarter than average Joe Sixpack. As a matter of fact, some of the most enlightened people I have known been techies. This kind of b.s. doesn't win nothing in the tech community. No one with a Gmail is going to switch to Outlook.com. Frankly, I use Google Apps for email (only) and it works great using a POP3 client (Outlook). As if I would switch all my domains from Gmail now because I saw that ad. Disclaimer: I DO actually wish and dream that I would and could live in a trailer, true, it has been my life long dream, so I do by no means putting people living in a trailer down. It is a figure of speech using trailer trash in some context, however.

"Microsoft's Lost Decade" http://www.vanityfai...o-steve-ballmer "Winning business was more important than making great products. The entire article is quotable though. Very nice read. Problem with Microsoft started before Windows 8, for example the way they handled Silverlight and killed it... now they are killing off XNA. Thing is, they have lost the trust of their core developers. People like me. When that trust is gone, people like me will not develop for their platform. With Windows 8, they sealed the deal. From that moment, they were doomed... http://youtu.be/3RoPtTEswWM?t=44m29s

I think it would be very fitting in their logo, seeing how they treat their customers. *lol*

I used to be die hard IE fan until I tried Opera. *lol* ...I hope they don't go the Chrome route and dumb down this thing because without all the customization, Opera will effectively just be dead. As far the engine, I don't care what runs under the hood although Opera was/is one of the most secure browsers so we'll see how things turn out. I'm so so so sick of dumbing down stuff that I'm worried they ruin Opera too. Back to topic, I also read rumour, I think maybe NeoWin or something MS is coming out with 5", 7" inch Windows 8... loooooool... wtf, why not slapp the Windows Phone 8 on it instead of Win8 is beyond me. The soul reason I got an Android tablet is that I can also make calls with it but Ballmer would never understand this.
