  1. Interesting, I hadn't heard that term. And the observation about those three-sentence "reviews" goes to what you were saying that I commented on in the post just above this one, about the standard of thinking that all-too-often goes into Win8 fandom. --JorgeA "Burying" is a standard tactic. Watch the W8 Amazon page and you will notice that pattern. It seems to be very popular by marketers ("shills"). Here's an interesting text showing some techniques in that vein: http://pastebin.com/irj4Fyd5 It claims to be a top secret governmental document or something (conspiracies and stuff). I don't buy that. But it illustrates many used methods to control forums, review pages etc that I've noticed myself. I guess it was written by some internet-marketer with humor and background knowledge. Excerpts: This is essentially the burying technique. This can be also very often seen by metrotards. Their "no one gives any valid reason to hate W8"-charade. Even if you bombard them with pages-long issues and links and stuff, they stay cool and continue to tout their 60-Million licenses sold number.
  2. ROFLCOPTER: http://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/1144716-just-how-many-people-hate-windows-8/page__view__findpost__p__595611294 Pathetic. There were no conversations before because everybody was generally fine with it. Not so with W8 apparently. Having heated discussion about a Windows version with friends and family is a win? People being confused about the interface is a win? Another gem from this chap: http://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/1144716-just-how-many-people-hate-windows-8/page__view__findpost__p__595611122 Utter garbage. How were these technologies forced in the way metro in W8 is? Was VHS introduced by making all newer beta players suddenly work with VHS, and only playing VHS tapes flawlessly, while garbling the output when playing beta tapes? Because that's the way the metro/desktop split is done in W8. And when all else fails: http://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/1144716-just-how-many-people-hate-windows-8/page__view__findpost__p__595612296 This always comes up as the last eightard resort. Battled enough of them on Channel9 and hardforum.com to know. After they get bombarded with W8 issues, they brush it off with "tl;dr" or just plain ignore it and continue to play the "no one is giving any valid reasons.." charade one week later. His last point (anti-marketing-campaign) is something I encounter quite often with MS employees when they talk about W8. "Biased press, they are all just haterz".
  3. Yea, the telescreen is coming. Nice touch that even the power is controlled from a remote location. Yummy.
  4. Looks like even Neowin is slipping from the metrotards slowly but surely. Look at this thread: http://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/1144716-just-how-many-people-hate-windows-8/ Lots of "haters". Had to laugh at this eightard comment: http://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/1144716-just-how-many-people-hate-windows-8/page__view__findpost__p__595610938 Wow, Neowin is turning into a W8-hate site? Are the shills on vacation? By the way, Windows 8's Amazon page must be the shilliest on Amazon by far. A flood of three-sentence, five-star first time reviewers appears every time, when the right bar ("Most Recent Customer Reviews") is filled with negative reviews. That technique is known as burying.
  5. Nice stats. Netapplications counts Metro-IE and Windows RT separate ("Windows 8 touch" and "Windows RT Touch") and those statistics are absolutely pathetic: Windows 8 Touch 0.12% Windows 8 RT Touch 0.02% That shows that Windows 8's market performance on tablets is garbage, despite all the marketing dollars (and the created bad-will among customers). Rendering the whole point of Microsoft's W8 strategy pointless. Such pathetic numbers are not even considered as a beachhead.
  6. The conclusion of this Sim City review fits Windows 8 oh so well: Another one: Sounds familiar.
  7. Typical tard-maso quote from EA forums: http://forum.ea.com/eaforum/posts/list/45/9338300.page#27461904 Eerily reflects the typical neowin metrotard ("I applaud Microsoft for not listening to whiners and keep sticking with metro!"). Not only are they masochists, they want to make their sexual deviance to be the primary way a customer has to deal with companies.
  8. Ugh, there are quite a lot of tards (Simtards, EATards?) who defend EA and all that they've done with this game. What happened to customer-is-king? It's quite disgusting how these fools want to willingly invert that. They are advocating their own obvious disadvantage constantly. Maybe there is a another layer with these people - could they be masochists? I am serious. They (metrotards, simtards) seem to enjoy giving money and be treated like crap in return. So instead of alimenting these companies and their bad decisions, and making the life of other customers more miserable indirectly, they should just go to an SM studio and be finally done with it. I think I should start a kickstarter - fund free dominatrix coupons for metrotards. We all would be better off that way.
  9. Metrotards are fuming in the comments: http://www.neowin.net/news/windows-8-market-share-up-slightly-in-march-to-331-percent
  10. I am astounded the huge amount of bad-will among their customers these companies are willing to produce for smallish additional profits. Let's take the region lock for StarCraft 2 for example. That caused lots of outcry back then. As far as I know, the lockin is gone with the recent patches - so why was it there to begin with? It sure wasn't a technical problem, the original StarCraft was able to handle American, European and Asian players in the same session without any problems 15 years ago. I guess they predicted that some would buy multiple copies to be able to play on different regions. A very small additional profit in exchange for lots of bad-will and potentially a greater loss of income in the future because of disgruntled customers? APPROVED! Same thinking with the recent Sim City.
  11. This one post on Channel9 sent shivers down my spine. I seriously didn't know that: http://channel9.msdn.com/Forums/Coffeehouse/windows-8-speech-sent-to-microsoft Creeptastic. According to the replies, "Apple does the same". I love that excuse.
  12. Truly an epic thread on TechNet: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/w8itprogeneral/thread/3ce738ea-6aa0-4d8a-8e95-5f69dce8e9a7 Stand-off between the traditional windows users and the xbox kids (literally). Don't miss!
  13. Oh, how cute: That's like straight from those b-movie sci fi flicks, where you always think how did the people let this s***hole scenario happen.
  14. Freudian slip? I like it how the new Xbox SDK installer uses the Matrix font. http://www.vgleaks.com/durango-xdk/ Using footage from a movie about being a slave for machines from birth to death sets the mood quite nicely for Telescreen 720, don't you think?
  15. Yummie, according to Microsoft's own docs, the new Xbox will be: "Always on, always connected" "Kinect is required to be plugged in" "All games must be installed on HDD" http://n4g.com/news/1213397/vgleaks-documentation-durango-hardware-overview-always-connected-kinect-required-must-install Let's not forget that the Kinect is actually a camera! Apart from blocking used games (very possible given this specs) it means that you're buying a 24/7 connected-to-the-mothership camera here, usually directed at the living room to boot. In short: You're buying a real-life telescreen here! (Telescreens are the television sets in "1984", they act as display devices but they also work as surveillance cameras, monitoring the room they are in and sending the stream to the big brother government).
  16. I have the feeling that you guys will love this thread: http://hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1751038 Lots of good 8tard stuff there. I am feeling like a child in a candy store.
  17. This is always where I get stuck. What problem does Windows 8 solve? Sure I can get used to it, but why would I? What's in it for me? If I really wanted an app store experience, why wouldn't I use an iOS and/or Android device which I already own? In light of the bolded statement, Microsoft's market doesn't even make sense: they're targeting a segment who wants "apps" but hasn't bought into either of the mature ecosystems. And they charge more for a less developed experience. The enablers actually think that's a plus. "Apple shows customers are fed-up with cheap plastic devices" is what 8tards love to tout.
  18. Here's an pretty amusing rant by someone who got W8 with a new computer and didn't know it before: http://sparklements.blogspot.de/2013/01/how-microsoft-windows-8-is-just-like.html I guess that story repeated many times in the past few months...
  19. One of the commenters a few above that one is really stuck on stupid ... So what this genius is doing is once again looking at Apple as his phantom competitor, no doubt green with envy. Nevermind the fact that Microsoft is simply milking its unethical monopoly of 90+% of 1.3 billion or more prisoners. Nevermind the fact that Windows 8 only actual competitor, Windows 7 has all but been removed from as an option while Vista, XP and everything else were long ago yanked from contention. iOS comes only installed on completely different devices that people must intentionally purchase. Like OS X it is not available as an option on anything for sale, let alone on anything where a customer can select it over Windows. Classic apples and oranges. But that is the Microsoft way. It is exactly like someone at the Post Office crowing that they have a larger user base than UPS or Fedex. Well, the primary way to access the internet is - despite all the tablet hype - still the Windows PC/laptop. I had no doubts that W8 would overtake Android and IOS in terms of web-marketshare, thanks to its sales on the PC. The real question was whether it could overtake XP/W7 (or even Vista) in reasonable time. And it looks as if Vista had a far better performance. Microsoft's primary goal with Windows 8 though (getting a piece of the tablet market) is in a pretty lousy state. Netapplications counts RT devices as well (under the "Windows 8 touch" category) and that one doesn't even make a dent in the IOS/Android marketshare. I don't know for sure, but I think that metro browsers on x86 based devices are in the "touch" category as well, making W8's stats even more lousy. There is a really nice doublethink with the 8tards here. They shouted that Microsoft had no other choice with W8 than p***ing its desktop users off, since that market is heading to dinosaur-valley anyway, so fck them. Yet they use the PC/laptop based statistics to claim victory over IOS. Lovely bunch!
  20. Oh my God, comments from Thurrott: http://winsupersite.com/windows-8/it-s-time-bring-back-nt I wonder when he will join this forum?
  21. Well, as I said earlier, it's very obvious that Thurrott actually dislikes Windows 8 and changes direction abruptly when his bribes gets delivered. This article is quite lol-worthy: http://winsupersite.com/windows-8/15-million-surface-sales-good-or-bad-0 If PCs are still that important, why was it needed to taint them with W8? The irony-meter explodes here. PCs are suddenly Microsoft's saving grace? The very customers Microsoft openly despises nowadays? Quote from comments: Ouch if true.. Remember all the rumors about high return rates?
  22. Flopface continues flopping: http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2013-03-14/microsoft-s-surface-tablet-is-said-to-fall-short-of-predictions.html
  23. The clear implication that using Google search is a bad habit. Tut Tut MrWeicz .... That's really funny because that's exactly the same lingo Linux zealots always said about Windows (usually when all their previous conversion efforts failed): "Windows is just like an addiction, you can't change that". That MS is using the same terminology is really telling. "Nu Microsoft" are freetards redux. Microtard fanbois even refer to Microsoft's own products that way. Lest we forget that über-fanboi on Paul Thurrot's site comparing the Windows Desktop to alcohol and demanding that MS should wean off those alcoholics to metro by force.
  24. This thread just derailed since it got moved. Good job.
