I'm assuming that it's not supported with Windows XP Home Edition.
try out XP Pro to see if that's actually the case

Title says it all!
My Windows XP installation's keyboard refuses to type unless the generic microsoft keyboard driver is uninstalled. Afterwards everything works fine. Unfortunately, this issue keeps coming back upon every boot-up now and requires me to uninstall the driver every time.
Sound similar to an issue I had with my XP install. Are you using a USB keyboard?
What motherboard do you have?

final submission, apparently

Would anyone want to use Unraid with hardware pass-through to run Windows 98?
Or is the objective in this case to have windows 98 running native without any virtualization at all?

For USB - This might be of use -
-
For Sound - there is also a pci-e sound card compatible with windows 98 (maybe also DOS)

I've been trying to use an old version of Kernelex that dibya gave me to patch ntoskrnl and ksecdd with the necessary functions needed for Intel USB 3.0 driver to work.
I used visual studio 6.0 to compile this old kernelex
It applies a patch, but some of the functions, like EtwRegister, don't get applied correctly and I'm not 100% sure how to fix.
Any ideas?

One more fork seems to be from intel guy

Please can you compile this driver for xp if possible on intel . I donot know whether it work on intel where actually unofficial driver needed.
I would be genuinely surprised if this could be made to work

Welcome to the wonderful world of API sets (whatever they are besides being an added layer of complexity).
Use the page above to get to Geoff Chappel's site with the full list and a nice explanation (or copy and paste the following).

I don't see them neither. Maybe those DLL names internally resolve to something else? I ran a search and haven't found them anywhere in Windows folder.
I don't know how to figure out what it resolves to.
Anyone know how to do that?

grab a windows 10 ISO and install in a VM, you can see they're absent.

It seems a bit pointless to me to install PAE with only 4GB of RAM, If you had more RAM it'd make sense.
