can't you just export these keys before installing the icons?

maybe something more universal, [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.aco\DefaultIcon] @="C:\\Windows\\Xpize\\Icons\\ACO.ico"

i think (so i'm not sure), it was the same file as the bootscreen.
