Downloaded it, installed it, does not work. Everything it is suppose to remove it did not...
I tried it twice, no go........
Exit MSN Msnger, download unpatched version from MSFN, install, run the patch, restart MSN Msnger, and you are good to go.

Windows messenger service
in Windows XP
Posted
He means the "netsend" command I think, you can disable it, from the best of my Microsoft knowledge, I've included a little tutorial to disable this.
Windows XP Home
Click Start->Settings ->Control Panel
Click Performance and Maintenance
Click Administrative Tools
Double click Services Scroll
down and highlight "Messenger"
Right-click the highlighted line and choose Properties.
Click the STOP button.
Select Disable or Manual in the Startup Type scroll bar
Click OK
Windows XP Professional
Click Start->Settings ->Control Panel
Click Administrative Tools
Click Services
Double click Services Scroll
down and highlight "Messenger"
Right-click the highlighted line and choose Properties.
Click the STOP button.
Select Disable or Manual in the Startup Type scroll bar
Click OK
Hope this helps.
