  1. OK, he says in German: Der Registrierungsstatus von "NtfsDisable8dot3NameCreation" ist die Standardeinstellung "2" (Volumeebeneneinstellung). That means in English: The registry status of "NtfsDisable8dot3NameCreation" is the standard setting "2" (Volumelevelsetting) Seems, that you can adjust this per volume with windows 7.
  2. Hey, i discovered that my Windows 7 RC x64 has a default value of 2 for the entry NtfsDisable8dot3NameCreation. I could not find this value in Microsoft Technet for Windows Vista or Server 2008 (only 0 or 1): http://technet.microsoft.com/de-de/library/cc766102.aspx http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library...797(WS.10).aspx Has someone an idea what this value does?
  3. Thank you very much But can you tell me, what is the bunch of other tweaks ? ^^ Or how can I make my own .mst file for adobe reader?
  4. I don't think that you can use any switches, when deploying via group policy. You have to use an .mst, if you want to modify the installation. If not, where can I make use of switches, when using gp?
  5. What about an .MST file to distribute Winamp via group policy? I know you can build one for office for example but you need the office resource kit. Is it possible for winamp too? Do you need a special program?
  6. Has anyone a MST-file where is no link on desktop, no update and no-EULA-accept for deploying via group policy?
  7. I think it disables the cancel button in the upcoming window. Not sure any longer. I install all my .msi apps with this switch. Seems to work
  8. Isn't there an msi which you can download direct from adobe, without need to use a .cab? I think I have seen such a link once, but doen't remember where...
  9. it works for me with this batch: start /wait msiexec.exe /i "Acrobat Reader 7\Adobe Reader 7.0 - Deutsch.msi" /qb "Acrobat Reader 7.05 Update.msp" /qb
  10. My Windows says it is a "Windows Installer-Patch", so /qp or /qn should work, like with msi... When you start this msp with /? it shows also a list you can use
  11. Isn't this user-specific setup normal? First idea would be to look for the registry-keys the setup creates or modifies and add these in the standard-profile for new users (should be the default-user profile)
  12. Hi there, since doing an unattended installation of XP with several programs I have the problem, that any burning device inside the computer, can be a CD-R oder DVD-R (or RW) device, can't be opened. If there is a CD inside the device there is showed a icon for the CD instead of the icon for the device. When you double-click it, whether a CD is in or not, nothing happens. Only a "click" sounds. Other CD or DVD (read only) devices work great, if installed. Couldn't find the point, where there failure is, yet... The XP-Install is just a normal unattended install, with winnt.sif with installation of updates at t-12. After installation eveything is alright. Afterwards some programs are installed and some registry-tweaks are made. Maybe anyone already had this problem and knows, where the problem could be? Another problem I just had yesterday, the top border of Internet Explorer window in normal Full screen mode just finished about few cm before the screen finishes, so you could see a piece of desktop. Maybe anyone knows a reason here?
  13. Is it possible to integrate the german language pack too?
  14. Of course I can do it, but wanted to make a suggestion, because it could be of interest for all, so why not integrate in WIHU. My idea was, that WIHU checks for the ini and when it is there it does what it always does But when the ini isnt there it shows a WIHU-Screen where you can browse the computer and check another ini, or just put the network-cable in, if it isn't ^^ Don't really know how much programming-effort this would be, if it's not much it would be a good thing, I think. I just try to give the author of WIHU some feedback
  15. At the moment I call WIHU from the network share. But it would be better to call WIHU from CD and when there is no connection to the network WIHU shows some options... Only a suggestion, a batch is also possible but optical not so perfect ^^
  16. No one any idea how to solve this problem?
  17. When installing WIHU over Network, first Updates are installed from CD. Then a batch is called which tells you to connect to the network. Then WIHU is called over network. Is there any possibility to include such a batch in WIHU? ^^ WIHU would be on CD, the ini only on network then... Maybe a first try to execute the ini, if not found a screen with 3 buttons: -continue: new try to load the ini -exit: exits WIHU -search: search for another ini
  18. What about a second user-part, where users are created after the software-install? Or, even better, what about a user-section you can initiate in the software-installation? So you are free to choose the time to start the user-part ^^
  19. Doesn't seem to work in my XPsetup when using svcpack.inf, while there is no problem when using cmdlines.txt. This is my svcpack.inf: [Version] Signature="$Windows NT$" MajorVersion=5 MinorVersion=1 BuildNumber=2600 [setupData] CatalogSubDir="\i386\Update" [ProductCatalogsToInstall] KB826939.cat [setupHotfixesToRun] update.exe -q -n Xplode.exe It includes the RollUp1 Pack, which works fine and also Updates included there work fine, but XPlode doesn't. XPlode is in "i386\update"
  20. Why do not change in winnt.sif ?
  21. Would be great, but try to keep the sections per software, it's a nice thing command1=1: beginning such a section command2=1: ending such a section is my suggestion ^^
  22. Here are some regtweaks, at the beginning they were all in one group, can you think which effort it was to change all the numbers? But when some people want to stay with the numbers, would it be possible to use both methods? Maybe stay with the current interpreter(?) and only let a tool configure the ini and everywhere where are'nt numbers it sets them (according to one of the examples)? Hope i don't think to complicate regtweaks.ini
  23. Would be a possibility I think everything what helps to get away from the numbers would be great ^^ Another idea was: sub = 1 (eine Ebene runter) main = 1 (eine Ebene höher) something like this Another idea: Would it be possible (and not to much effort) to use more than one ini also for software? Software-Set A and Software-Set B
  24. Why do you not use your WORK-IP at home? Should'nt be much effort to change your home-networks DHCP to use IPs in the range you use at work So you could get i-access with your IP at home AND at work ^^
