  1. To fix the problem with the character, use this! RD/S/Q "%USERPROFILE%\Favoriter\L„nkar"You will of course have far more to do than this if you wish to remove that folder. That problem has been covered on more than one occasion within these forums, so I suggest you search appropriately if you have not yet done so.
  2. A country is not defined by whether or not it is home to a monarch. The 'Commonwealth of Australia' is similarly a country made up of many islands, each of which may also have flags, but none of which are countries. A 'capital city' is strictly speaking a political term. It is the home of the majority of the Parliament and has nothing to do with whether or not it is part of a country. Scotlands Parliament is in Edinburgh, and as such Scotlands 'capital' is Edinburgh; likewise Englands 'capital' is London for the same reason. Because your statement regarding London as the 'capital' of Scotland is wholly incorrect, you may find yourself on the wrong side of trouble regardless of your location when you 'bleat it out'.
  3. To fix your code: @echo off for /D %%i in ("c:\Documents and Settings\*") do dir/b "%%i\Application Data\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch" 2>nul or tidied up a little @ECHO OFF FOR /D %%? IN ("%ALLUSERSPROFILE%\..\*") DO (DIR/B/A "%%?\APPLICATION DATA\MICROSOFT\INTERNET EXPLORER\QUICK LAUNCH" 2>NUL)
  4. It's heartening to see myself correct with those sites at least, however an overwhelming majority of the population of each of the nations which make up the UK, would strongly disagree. TC, I know it's not my position to speak on behalf of the forum, however, living as I do within one of those nations, I feel that there can be a fine line between patriotism and nationalism. I would just prefer to see people united in a multi-racial and multi-cultural society not segregating themselves due to their differences.
  5. I've got no definite answer for you, the time should be pretty much spot on. You will never get a precision time piece, due to the fact that things need to be both processed and written to the screen in between the 1 second intervals. My tests have all been within a couple of seconds over the three minute marker. Time it from the moment 180 appears and not from when you execute it. To be a little more brutal, I can see no real need to have an exact time of 3 minutes, I can however see a need to have at least 3 minutes, which is what both our results do give.
  6. Yes, 180 should represent 180 seconds, i.e. 3 minutes. The time will actually be a little longer, it may take up to 2 seconds depending upon the system, especially invoked from a cd, to write /create the working files. I would therefore suggest trying 178 or 179 for a more precise 3 minutes!
  7. Using a batch file and cheating at the same time, try this! It is just a batch file, I places it inside a zip file just in case of forum formatting errors. When you read it you will see why! cnt_down.zip
  8. Note or highlight the Product Version used for the MD5-Checksum
  9. I guessed as much, it's been a while since I updated mine. I only mentioned it because without checking the product versions, people with perfectly good MP10setup.exes may think theirs is corrupted.
  10. 11. Have you tried [GuiUnattended] AutoLogon=Yes AutoLogonCount=1
  12. Wales unified with England 570 years ago, (by now you'd think people would have come to terms with it).Scotland further unified with them, forming Great Britain, some 311 years later but still 259 years ago. Irelands unification 205 years ago, was later broken down some 85 years ago, but the country as named United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland has been fully adopted since 1927, that is 79 years. England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland are Nations. The differences /similarities between 'cultural' and 'state' nationalism are too wide to cover, however, for the purposes of your query the 'Nation' of Wales can be treated similarly to a 'State'. It still remains that the Union Flag is your 'countries flag', your 'national flag', Y Ddraig Goch (the red dragon), was officially recognised as such in the 1950s, over 50 years ago.
  13. I am English, however my nationality is British, and I live in the United Kingdom. The name of the country is United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, its flag, already shown correctly by the board is the Union Flag, sometimes referred to as the Union Jack. England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland are not countries they are Nations and do not deserve to be treated as countries by this board.
  14. The right-click => install option is the same as using this command: %SystemRoot%\system32\rundll32.exe setupapi,InstallHinfSection DefaultInstall 132 X:\MyFolder\MyInfFile.infchange X:\MyFolder\MyInfFile to suit
  15. When you export from your registry the actual exported document is encoded in Unicode, when you copy it into another document, unless it saves in Unicode by default, it will be ANSI. ANSI encoded documents are smaller in bytes than their Unicode versions. Windows XP by default exports its registry keys in Unicode and uses a header of Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00. Win9x /NT4 versions of Windows used the REGEDIT4 header and were ANSI encoded. To check this out, export a key from Registry Editor, in the dialog it will say Save as type: Registration Files (*.reg)That is the default Unicode version. Now repeat, using the same key but this time select Save as type: Win9x/NT4 Registration Files (*.reg)That is ANSI encoded; open this file in notepad, replace REGEDIT4 with Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 and note the file sizes. Both files appear identical, but have different sizes! Hope this helps quell your paranoia.
  16. Unfortunately, it just came right, after the two days, before I posted in this thread. I just took it that msfn was going through a major upgrade and thought nothing of it. If I had knew that the site wasn't down, I'd have gone through a thorough troubleshooting routine. Rest assured next time it happens, I'll try a little harder!
  17. I don't think you read what I said! Not only did I say that, in my case, clearing those was not required, one of the OSes was a brand new SuSE 10.1 installation running Firefox. It had no cache or cookies to clear and msfn.org is accessible with cookies blocked anyhow. My best guess has something to do with multiple IP Address assignments and the way my ISP does them. I could currently be, as far as this site is concerned, using the same IP Address as many others. All my traffic is routed 'proxy-like' through NTL servers. The only problem this has is my IP can be incorrectly blocked by this site due to someone elses mis-demeanours. I may be completely off the mark here, but like I said. it's my best guess.
  18. Same problem, here, using IE, FF and Opera, no access at all to msfn.org for two days and it had nothing to do with cookies or cache. They haven't been cleared or changed on any of my OSes or Clients but I'm on now! What happened, because I've just managed to get on and there are posts here from during that period?
  19. The robocopy /s switch copies subfolders, it doesn't recurse them in the manner you'd expect.
  20. In order for the latter to work, you need to put your Apps folder under \$OEM$\$1for example: C:\XPCD\$OEM$\$1\Apps
  21. If you believe that then I think that you should learn to read and understand!Where in your response did you use robocopy? You dont know if the questioner wishes to retain specific attributes, owners, acls security etc. Why would they need to install another product in order to do a simple copy exercise? The tools, used by all other responders bar yourself, are already available to the questioner. Downloading and installing another product, for me, when the tools to do the job already exist is not an efficient solution. Did my response use the tools already available to the questioner? Was my response a short single line command? Does my response perform the task required? Please explain, in 'simple' terms what you mean by 'complex'!
  22. I'll leave the robocopy switches you require to yourself, but a simple 'for loop' should be all you need: FOR /R C:\DATA %%? IN (*.CSV) DO (ROBOCOPY "%%?" C:\CSVFILES\)Hope it helps! <Edit> Just a small addition, I added double-quotes to the variable just in case of spaces in the file name or path. </Edit>
  23. To create a zero byte file called test.txt type nul>test.txtTo 'delete folders', (if you used the correct terminology, it may be easier to look up), use RD (Remove Directory). For its usage open a command prompt and type & enter RD /?
  24. I use this registry setting for the 'Right Shift Key For 8 Seconds Problem' it has always worked for me! In order for the setting to work, the computer must be turned off and back on again, rebooting explorer does not work. The Setting: The correctly formatted and encoded reg file:NoFiltKeys.zip
