  1. I don't do all that much gaming....on average an hour a day or less. I think that if I didn't have school + multiple jobs, my time would be devoted to more visual entertainment. I rarely get a game when it is first released. As Polarman has mentioned, waiting a few months or so after the initial release usually means a cheaper price and a few bug fixes. Granted, I can't think of any games that I have played that had horrible issues upon release, but I am sure they existed. Another benefit of waiting is that by the time I get the game, my computer may have seen one or more upgrades, thus giving me a more satisfying gaming experience. Currently, i seem to be playing a lot of Unreal Tournament 2004 (I might actually get the new one when it is released). I will occasionally pick up the original Ghost Recon, or Wolfensten: Enemy Territory. Empire Earth is a good RTS, and you can't beat Flight Simulator for a good sim.
  2. Well, I've been doing a bit of looking, and here's what I am thinking so far: If I go with an ATI chipset, it will be an x1600XT. If I go with nVidia, it will be a 7600GT. Now all I have to do is come up with some $$$, and decide on a card. I thank all of you for your opinions thus far, they have really helped!
  3. Howdy everyone! I am in need of some opinions regarding a new video card for my desktop. I found this one on newegg, and I just wanted to know if anyone had any experience with Sapphire before, and things like that. Or, feel free to recommend something else. I'm a man on a very tight budget, $150-ish being the upper limit. I like that card because it has 512 MB of memory. I realize that it is the slower GDDR2, but at $130 + shipping..... Also, dual monitor (alas, I have nothing with DVI, just 2 CRT's) is a must. S-Video would be nice, and composite is always enjoyable. Oh, and it has to be pci-express, because I don't have an AGP port. I like the ATI X1600 series chips, but i wil admit that I know nothing about nVidia's lineup, so for all you nVidia guys, what is similar to the x1600? Thank you much.
  4. Well, I don't know if my photoshop skills qualify as all that good, but I decided to take a stab at it. Only took me about 30 minutes. I have 2 versions: one with the sky the default color, the other with a slightly washed out sky. I figured you very rarely see a BLUE sky in the desert. It's almost always somewhat lighter than other places. I think.
  5. I'm not sure, but if I had to guess, I'd say that the top one is 64-bit PCI
  6. @durex I believe I have the same problem as you, the difference being, no matter how I access the computer (via IP address or computer name) I can't see random files/folders. My friend suggested that XP can't handle the task of sharing too many files at once. I checked on my comp, and I have about 250,000-300,000 files being shared. I don't know if this high file count is a factor, but I plan on moving most of the files to a server soon, so hopefully that will fix it. You might want to see just how many files you have...it can't hurt.

  8. Thank you horsecharles, you have solved it! My problem wasn't with the "NoStartMenuMFUprogramsList" entry, as it was not there. It was the "NoInstrumentation" entry that was causing it.
  9. I also have this problem. I did not use nlite to install XP, but I did do it unattended. I had imported some registry tweaks, but I have not been able to find one that hints at disabling the menu. Anyone else know of a fix?
