Lol, are you saying im lying? Uh... why would I do that? Windows Genuine Advantage Notification (KB905474) is real and available at Microsoft and Windows Update for Norwegian Windows XP. It's a small tool that checks to see if you running a valid windows key and shows as a tray icon and a HUGE notification on logon/logoff screen with systemhalting dialog informing you IF you run a invalid XP key. This thing is ALL over the place telling you its a pirated version IF you have a pirated XP, that ofcourse I don't As far as I have found there is no way to uninstall after you have installed this update. Here's a picture of the update appearing on Microsoft Update from today for you who dubt me -Notice it appears under Critical Updates ("Høyt Prioriterte oppdateringer" in Norwegian) KB905474

I got a complete halt on a real test format at PowerDVD 6 installation. I've successfully installed with no error before and no recent changes to the PowerDVD installer, so I find it weird but the following error dialog appeard and halted all operations (dialog is translated norwegian>>english). Power DVD Could not copy Ikernel.exe to 'c:\Program Files\Commonfiles\InstallShield\Engin\6\Intel32'. Verify that you have rights to copy to this folder. (0x20) OK I manually had to click OK on this message, when system was ready I checked filepath and there is a IKernel.exe in the path (also 4 other .dll files and corecomp.ini) Please help me figure this one out!

@druiddk: Thank's for the link. For KB905474, this is a cricital update. My machine is set to automaticly download and install critical updates, but this one I would like to exclude, is that possible? (Maybe there's a way to set it to be hidden in WindowsUpdate.log or similar?)

Ok, wow another EXTREMLY annoying feature by MS. Windows Genuine Advantage Notification (KB905474) is a tray icon that tells you wether you run a genuine XP key or not. Annoying use of resources and looks ugly! Is there any way to fool WU/MU to think you have it installed, so it don't show up on critical updates? I really hate this little trayicon thingy!

Found that Windows Update shows two new updates for my maching Microsoft Base Smart Card Cryptographic Service Provider Package: x86 (KB909520) and Windows Genuine Advantage Notification (KB905474) Where can I download these to include on my ua media? And how are they installed?

I was formerly using Windows AntiSpyware beta1, but it seems to miss alot of threats and spyware compared to some other apps. Any opinions as of what is the best antispyware app? I tried Trend Micro Anti-Spyware, that seems pretty **** good. Found alot more than MS AntiSpyware did not find, plus it uses way less CPU/Memory.

What features do you disable when you remove CTFMON.EXE? (did I understand correctly that you will then just no longer be able to use a mic to "write" text?)

Can a XML file contain %SystemDrive% parameter? <Apps> <App>C:\\PROGRA~1\\MICROS~2\\OFFICE11\\OUTLOOK.EXE</App> <App>C:\\PROGRA~1\\MICROS~2\\OFFICE11\\WINWORD.EXE</App> <App>C:\\PROGRA~1\\MICROS~2\\OFFICE11\\POWERPNT.EXE</App> <App>C:\\PROGRA~1\\MICROS~2\\OFFICE11\\EXCEL.EXE</App> </Apps> Above was found in the .xml file, do I need it? Really? I clicked check for updates right after i tested a silent install on it and it downloaded and installed new definitions...

Sheez, ppl gotta learn how to search. It's a bug in the latest release on DivX play and create. NO silent switches are available... Use AutoIt or an older version.
