Just read, he considers dropping off 7, too. Can you ask for a farewell version that works without updates on 32bit Vista? As I suspect, I had missed one or two telemetry updates (intentionally).
Where are you reading that Windows 7 and Vista are not supported?

Not a challenge at now. Firefox-esr has still support until april 2026 for them.
Well the forks do. Not the standard product. And there are other applications other than browsers that have challenges. Anyway, all good

I assume that @Zorba the Geek is looking for a client targeting Windows XP. However, your recommended email client Betterbird requires at least Windows 7 64bit.
Oh yeah! That!
(weird how you forget that this is meant to target XP, once you leave it behind. I'm more of the mindset that says, "Can it at least run on Windows 7 or 8", as that's a challenge now)

There appears to be no documentation supplied for Mailnews, so I hope someone can help me with Gmail and Microsoft Outlook.com mail. They both require OAuth2 authentification, but only Gmail can connect to the server if I use IMAP. When I use POP3 as the incoming Gmail server I receive this message:
OAuth2 does not appear to work with Microsoft Outlook.com mail and it produces the login window uploaded here. I tried enabling 2 step authentification and generating an app password to be used as a normal password, but I receive an error message saying "Username and password not accepted". Does this mean that Mailnews needs to be registered with Microsoft for OAuth2 to work?
I have tried Interlink, MailNews and Epyrus. None of them can work with OAuth2 (at least for Outlook). I've since installed Betterbird, back in the spring. All good now

In closing, I'm not being entitled or ungrateful towards the r3dfox author; huge thanks
from my side for what he has offered to me over the last two years or so
...
I COMPLETELY agree @VistaLover. By the way, you really did a complete job in your above assessment. I'm also grateful to what @K4sum1 gave us. But I also need to look after my needs. While I hate that we have a Google-fied web, I've stopped worrying about the implications of all of the privacy issues we face. It's not that I disagree with the level of concern, but it's that we REALLY can do nothing about it. I need to perform online banking, watch and help produce videos on YouTube, use WebRTC to voice traffic reports, and take part in Zoom meetings, Google Meet and Teams Meetings, and apply for work; all which basically NECESSITATES providing a good chunk of personal information to proceed. I don't agree with the corporate tactics, but I must continue to function.
It was indeed K4Sum1's project, as Pale Moon was Moonchild's. What I feel these visionary types (who admittedly deserve a lot of credit for their work), fail to realize is that those that make up their user base are CONSUMERS or CUSTOMERS. Now Moonchild and his "moonie minions" VEHEMENTLY disagree with that. But customers are not just defined as those providing monetary exchange to a company or corporation for a product. They can be those who provide voluntary stake to a company, or mission. So in this way, those who co-develop alongside Moonchild, those who provide add-ons, those who beta test, and YES even those who simply (and regularly) USE Pale Moon, are indeed customers and stakeholders.
When someone creates a project, and it attracts users to the resulting product, such as in K4Sum1's r3dFox, expectations begin to be developed. No matter if these expectations are right or wrong for the userbase to behold, they are real, and the developer needs to contend with them. Those are simply the facts. K4Sum1 provided a way for me to use Windows 8 on an extended basis, and you become reliant on that. When K4Sum1 understandably says, "I'm just not feeling it", it doesn't incite a favourable response among the userbase. Fair? Perhaps not, but it's a very real sentiment.
@K4sum1, I genuinely hope you are OK.

I haven't heard anything.
The recent Eclipse Community discussion seemed to be developmental proposals on the direction the project was headed.
There were some outspoken disapprovals of those proposals. But it didn't come across as "hyper-critical" or anything like that.
But sometimes you never know, it is his project and maybe he just got tired of those "disapprovals".
I kind of doubt it, and hate to "speculate". I'm sure we'll know more soon...
I was worried that may be the case too, as I was a tad vocal on my thoughts of where r3dFox is headed, on the Eclipse Fourm. However, that isn't my saying "You have to do this or that!". I'm vehement on my opinions, and make no apologies for it.
In any case, I have now moved on the Firefox for Windows 7 and 8, since releases seem to be happening more quickly. This is especially the case for ESR builds. I'm glad I switched. Even if my comments were not made, I'm sure there were a lot of vocal proponents of my mindset, including one being a moderator.

Great news - I received the notice on GitHub.
No rush. I just wondered if it was going to be a thing. Thanks K4Sum1

I'm in no hurry @K4sum1, but I am curious. Will r3dFox be moving into ESR 140 territory? I posted on Eclipse, but I was just curious to know.

Thanks @Tripredacus. I'm not fussy at all.

I just found this thread and registered. I was going to Eclipse, which I like for other reasons, like r3dFox development
Is there a way to not use dark mode? I went to Look and Layout, but to no avail.
EDIT: It's funny that I say I "found this thread", because it turns out I created it.

It appears that Windows Defender Updates may not work any longer without the Windows Update service enabled. Tried to enable the update service, and it worked. Turning off the service and trying to update Defender fails with an error now.
Strange, but it appears that the issue has completely resolved itself.

Darn! Seems the new release doesn't support tabs under the address bar (by using Zapp's Photon Theme). Still works with ESR 128.10. I wonder if something changed in core Firefox, but there are A LOT of different r3dFox options in Settings now.
Edit: It appears that custom entries in about:config that are used by Zapp's Photon Theme are now ignored by ESR 128.12 rc

You will need to replace instances of "(-moz-bool-pref: " with "-moz-pref(" for the theme to work correctlyThat did fix it.

New ESR releases for 128.12 (including a hotfix) ... yay!

I'm hoping for an update to ESR 128.10, as there was a major security patch issued last month. I think ESR 128.11 was next. Crossing my fingers

I didn't mean r3dFox,I mean something like a 115esr fork for continued Windows 7 and 8.1 support.
And you wouldn't prefer to to have ESR 128.x? It's more up to date.

@Leokids123, for Windows 7 and 8.1, there's r3dFox from @K4sum1. He has compiled ESR v128.9 releases.

You're right, #compact-mode doesn't seem to do anything (I hadn't actually tried it before, as I'm very happy with it the way it is!)
132 looks exactly the same to me as 126 did.
Actually v126 R7, the height of the tab bar was less (equivalent to modern-day Chrome), and the transport buttons (back, forward, refresh and home were a fair bit bigger. I'll live. It's just that when using other themes like Blue Mica, or Classic Blue, you see a weird separator line between the most right tab and the New Tab button.

Have you tried #compact-mode in the flags?
Yes. That flags did not make any difference. Then I tried #compact-ui, but that was really small. Too small actually.
For what it's worth, I'm using Supermium on a Dell Inspiron 1420 notebook with Vista Home Basic. I have enabled flags for classic interface, and native user interface elements (both of which appear to make no difference). @Dave-H are you getting the same interface that you had with v126 R7?
