  1. Ugh... No, the "VALID QUESTION" was whether or not to add the contents of the SP folder based on the fact that they were labeled slightly different, Understand ? (e.g. ICH5IDE.INF vs. ICH5ID2.INF). 'That' was the valid question ! (yes I know the answered 'NOW' so no need to answer it again ) If you are going to give me a speech about doing some homework before I ask a question then try and focus on what I actually write.. Now I'm not trying to be an a$$ either but try and be a little less "clever" in your posts.... .
  2. Well, this is what I was stuck on because at first glance, the one has a 2 in it, the other does not. Why intel would make a duplicate and put it in separate folder with the same stuff didn't make any sense to me which is why I was inquiring about it. It was a valid question and I put effort in it.. I didn't find but one place with someone asking why intel puts the SP folder in and with no answer there too.
  3. Here is my chipset http://tc.versiontracker.com/product/redir/lid/751606/Intel%20Chipset%20Driver%207.2.2.1006.zip Dell e1705 .. EDIT : Hey submix8c, I appreciate all your help, you,-X- and a few other dudes here have been a wealth of information, but don't bother looking into this, I spent some time and figured out that I don't need the 'SP' folder... I also did my driver integration and everything worked out perfect..
  4. That's because I didn't download it, it was on my resource CD.. Chip Set: Intel Mobile Chipset DRVR Version : A09 OEM name : Intel Mobile Chipset OEM Version: 7.2.2.1006 .... I can direct link it to mediafire if that would help. OK.. Dell e1705 laptop. Didn't see your reply till about 10 minuets ago. I figured you guys over here on msfn would know what the 'sp' folder was and either give a yes/or no. Don't really know what all information is needed for certain things.
  5. I already created the sp3 cd source so I have moved on. Not cutting anything from that. After adding my drivers, I want to slim it down, that's all. Dell e1705 laptop. Sorry.. I was going to delete it but it was to late. As I said before, I'm not bothering with my MCE disc. .
  6. I need some clarification on how to slip an Intel Chipset driver into the driver section of the nlite. When I extract the downloaded driver, It has the XP folder in it with all the inf files and it is to my understanding that it doesn't matter which one you load as nlite will detect and load them all from that folder. (please correct me it I'm wrong) But also in that folder is another folder labeled 'SP',and that has 3 more inf files. Am I supposed to load any of these ? .
  7. Also, I initially came in this thread because I also have some confusion on how to integrate my chipset driver, and what inf to use. I extracted my chipset driver and The version.txt says this, Title: Chip Set: Intel Mobile Chipset DRVR Version : A09 OEM name : Intel Mobile Chipset OEM Version: 7.2.2.1006 ________________________________ Inside the xp folder exists: 852.inf 855.inf 865.inf 915.inf 915m.inf 945.inf 945gm.inf dmi_pci.inf e7220.inf e7230.inf e7520.inf e8500.inf ich4core.inf ich5core.inf ich5ide.inf ich5usb.inf ich6core.inf ich6ide.inf ich6usb.inf ich7core.inf ich7ide.inf ich7usb.inf ichxdev.inf plus another folder (sp) with; ich5id2.inf ich6id2.inf ich7id2.inf ________________ So how to I know which one to point at Nlite ? EDIT: Actually, I just need to know if I add any infs from the 'sp' folder. ...and it is to my understanding chipset has to be first on the list ?
  8. Sorry, I wrote my post incorrectly and it didn't make sense.. On the unattended site, it says you can get rid of these files to save about 185 mb Is this still ok to do ? Here is the link.
  9. IE8 .. No worries, I think it was the update itself that didn't download properly. MS was having a problem with their downloads as I described in the other post. I just read some stuff about it from the end of 2011,it started.
  10. What's it mean when KB2675157 (footnote 4) shows up on windows update, TWICE ? LOL I will say this -X- .. I did exactly what you said with the nLite (doing that one update first/deleting nlite_in etc... and I do have a perfect install now.. I made another install (long story short) and I might have deleted something I shouldn't have but not sure yet. I don't know if you ever noticed this but sometimes when you download an update from Microsoft, it fails but you wouldn't know it unless you checked the file size.. I tried downloading SP3 like 5 times one day and it ended up being around 200mb..
  11. I wanted to if this was still valid since it was written at the time of SP2.
  12. Yes. No, I said that AFTER I use the hotfix section of the nlite... ( "There are indeed extra ini files as soon as you integrate updates/hotfixes,etc... " ) My stuff came from dell.. except the none OEM pro version. Ugh... I wouldn't use a cracked copy for an OS.. LOL ..Anyway thank you for the answers submix8c ..
  13. I understand.. Eh, not worth the bother, I'm running professional on this right now anyway, was hoping I could use it for another computer of mine since I'm not using it on this.. I don't like the mce extra garbage which is why I am running pro now. One question about this comment you made to the other guy.. "Extra INI" files? PLEASE don't tell me you ran nLite against an nLited source!!!! You MUST start with a FRESH copy of the CD EACH TIME!!!" There are indeed extra ini files as soon as you integrate updates/hotfixes,etc... They are 'last session.ini' and 'last session_u.ini and my source has never been touched by nLite before. You can safely remove these before you create the ISO,yes ? Plus I have a notepad txt called 'sq.txt' and on the inside it says 'SQ_SP2_2' ... Can I remove this as well ?
  14. I originally got MCE with this computer but It was a DVD, not 2 cds.. Is there anyway to get the XP pro part out of my MCE DVD ? No worries, I was only curious.
  15. Quick test reveals that this should be ok. To save space, you can probably (afterward) delete SP2.CAB and SP2.CAT (about 18mb) and the "cmpnents" folder (applies only to MCE/Tablet CD#2 - another 25.7mb). ONLY Copy the Source to a Folder and nLite ONLY the Network SP3 and NOT "Create ISO". Rerun nLite and ONLY "Create ISO" to create an (almost identical to Pre-Integrated) SP3 CD. That can be your "working CD" from that point on (burn it and store it as a backup).HTH Ok, thank you very much. I never knew you could delete those folders, I will indeed do that to save space.. Excellent..What do you mean "almost identical?" What other difference could there be ? (other than the files that I delete) Also, you mentioned that "cmpnents" folder applies only to MCE .... MCE doesn't work to well in nLite, correct ? Just curious because I thought I read somewhere on this site that nLite will change the source of MCE, or not recognize it or whatever. At any rate, since MCE doesn't apply to me, shouldn't I always delete this folder after I integrate everything / before I create the ISO ?
  16. What if you only used nlite to slipstream SP3, can you use that as a source for nlite again or should I manually slipstream SP3 and use that as a source CD ? (legit copy here)
  17. -X-, How do you figure out which updates are/were replaced by others, such as the ones in your 'Obsolete Updates' list ? Example: WindowsXP-KB923561-x86-ENU.exe "replaced by" 955759,979687,2259922. WindowsXP-KB938464-x86-ENU.exe "replaced by" 938464 etc.. Where or how do you find this information ?
  18. Cool.... I'm just going to use the nlite as you described instead of the /integrate switch, which brings me to another question.. If I used /integrate, would I still have to Open the i386 folder and delete something like the "NLITE.IN_.?" ( some other kind of _IN file created by /integrate )
  19. -X- ... Hey man, Here is the problem with doing this all at once... You can't add any of the updates for wmp 11 to Boooggy's slipstreamer when you do it in the same run as you described,it only installs wmp11.... However you did say to replace your 6 wmp addons updates with the regular ones, (since I'm slipstreaming wmp11) so I added them to the nlite as that was my only option unless you know otherwise. (?) Interesting enough, 5 out of 6 installed but KB975558 will not install with the nlite. This does bring me to a couple of questions.. I'm curious why you made the wmp addon cab files when 5 out of 6 regular ones slipstreamed in the nlite. My other question is how can I get KB975558 to slipstream ? I want to do this all in one shot but this just isn't possible the way I see it and All because of that one **** update.. lol Any suggestions ?
  20. -X- again thanks dude, I noticed you updated your site Feb 14th..
  21. I'm getting "CMOS Checksum Error, press F1 to continue" etc.. on a dell desktop w/vista ... I changed the battery and it didn't correct the problem but the main problem is that my keyboard doesn't work either. (USB ONLY) So I can't press anything.. Anyone ?
  22. OK... By the way, I noticed that Booooggy's slipstreamer automatically pops up when it slipstreams wmp11 but it doesn't actually show it slipstreaming the wmp updates. It this right ?
  23. What does this do, to run it in my update folder ? In other words, what is the advantage of running this in an update folder as opposed to just running it as current ? (thanks for updating it,by the way) Also, I did use the wmp 11 slip streamer and I replaced the 6 media player add-on update cabs with the ones from Microsoft and 'KB975558' didn't install because it showed up on windows updates. Any Ideas why ? The other ones were added. Plus, what is the difference if you use that add-on cabs or the ones from Microsoft, wouldn't nlite grab them just the same ?
  24. OK.... Do I 'install' wmp 11 slipstreamer to the folder or just download it and place it in the folder ? Ok but I still use these UDC ones ?
