  1. What nlite folder, You mean in the nlite 'program files' folder ? So download the slipstreamer and put it in the nlite 'program files' folder or download it and 'install' it to the nlite 'program files' folder ? You mean use the original files instead of the UDC created add-ons now that the wmp 11 slipstreamer will be in use ?
  2. I use -X- Update down-loader,along with the IE-8 add-on creator with the nLite and it works great. But I Also want to slipstream wmp11 and all those updates and I will use Boooggy's WMP11 slip streamer for that.. My questions are: 1. Should I slipstream wmp11 before or after I slipstream -X- updates.. 2. After I slipstream everything in the right order and install my new custom CD, there will be more updates showing up on windows update site,so how do I know which of THESE NEW updates will or will not slipstream in the nLite ?
  3. 5eraph, I finished my unattended windows CD and it turned out perfect ! I thought I should let you know since you helped me out with all the knowledge..
  4. I get my updates from here http://catalog.update.microsoft.com ... It's sends a two file download of that specific update. I Don't know why but OK, problem solved. Again, you have been very helpful .. Peace to you.
  5. When I Rename my files to fit the 8.3 naming convention (a."windows-kb890830-v3.22.exe" becomes "KB890830.exe".) kb890830 is a two files update, 1. X86-all-windows-kb890830-v3.22_29abc5ef808a7e17fe9d10559cc690fb264fbba3.exe 2.X86-all-windows-kb890830-v3.22-delta_2c5fe05278e080b6143d184b782e561ce8ad0d71.exe and they will both be named "KB890830.exe" so that won't allow me to drop those files in the same folder. Do I rename one with an extra letter or do I only add one of the two files and if so,which one ?
  6. Thank you 5eraph... One more question here and I'm ready to go.
  7. I just have a couple question about this: Can I do this "inf method" after I have already "/integrated" a bunch of updates, only doing this for the updates that don't use the /integrate switch ? Can I do the inf way and then use the integrate switch after ? Or is it all one or the other ? E.G. I have a fresh copy of XPHOMESP3 (source) and I "/integrate" a bunch of updates until I come to those that won't and THEN I add those to the inf, such as explained here. Also, in this MSFN's Unattended Windows guide, do I need to do the "DOSNET.inf" part of it ? ...Also the "adding" QCHAIN.exe part of it ? Plus, You said add these like this: KB890830.exe /Q KB973685.exe /qn My question is how do I know what /Q or /qn to add with the rest of the updates ? The guide says : KB824146.exe /Q /O /N /Z but I'm not familiar with this stuff. I read some about what they mean but I don't really know how to apply them and why.
  8. Yeah, that's what I meant .. OK What I see is KB2503658's file version is "6.0.2900.6090" and KB2544893's file version is 6.0.2900.6109 .. So obviously, the higher number supersedes (?) ...and in this case 'KB2507938' supersedes because it has both the dlls that the others have collectively, plus the file version numbers are higher, correct ?
  9. I was wrong, I didn't have the folder until after I started installing updates. No worries,I understand why you said "create" now. lol What exactly am I looking for, I mean to be able to tell one supersedes the other ? After they are extracted, in this case, I would be checking the file version of both SP3GDR and SP3QFE,yes ? OK, I extracted the msi contents out of both 'KB973688' and 'KB973685' and looked in the system folders of both. 'kb973688' had three dlls, file versions "4.10.9404.0" "4.10.9404.0" and "4.20.9876.0." 'KB973685' had two dlls, file versions "4.30.2100.0" and 4.30.2107.0." It should be noted that when I extracted them, in both cases I got the message "this type of update is not supported - hit ok " This was new to me so I am glad you taught me how to do this.
  10. You hit the nail on the head ... I figured the KB973688 was superseded by another because of -x- update list and xable's,neither have it on their 'high priority' update list... I am more concerned with why /integrate didn't work for KB973688 as well as MRT. (just for the knowledge) Also, how does one find out which updates supersede others ? Where exactly do I find that info out without relying on someone else's research ? Well, I slipstreamed SP3 so I'm using XPx86SP2 Home with SP3 slipstreamed, and I do prefer the manual method ... An excellent guide (MSFN's Unattended Windows) and I do have it bookmarked. Thank you for taking the time and writing this out in more detail. An excellent post !
  11. I didn't want to start a new thread for this because I seem to be in the right topic but can anyone tell me how to /integrate Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool - August 2011 (KB890830) and Update for Microsoft XML Core Services 4.0 Service Pack 2 (KB973688) ?
  12. No, I'm not trying to used any cracked software, I am goofing around trying to figure out how to build the updates because I don't like installing dll's from someone else... I like xable's update pack and have been enjoying trying to figure out how to build the updates he did. But thank you for the information. I thought -X- was xable.. lol
  13. I'm saying that if I want to build my own windows update engine, (like the one on the link you supplied)buy getting the necessary dlls and writing an inf file, how you I figure out what number to write in the inf file to point at the registry ?Such like the one I put in bold.
  14. Hey -X- if I want to add your update engine using my dll's, how do I find out what registry # to put in... Example: HKCU,"Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Ext\Stats\{6E32070A-766D-4EE6-879C-DC1FA91D2FC3}\iexplore" ? Better question, how did you come up with that number ?
  15. Sorry man, I must have been high.. OK, I understand but you threw me off when you said " Yes, nlite will do it but it's pretty foolish to do so when MS themselves say not to." - Microsoft doesn't tell you not to install their update from my understanding ,they just tell you to update your flash afterward.
  16. OK, I see.. I was under the impression that nlite wouldn't. So why would Microsoft still be adding it as an update?
  17. OK, I understand that the flash is outdated but don't get why the actual security update that does install from the MS WU site but the nlite won't do it ?
  18. Actually, I don't understand this one.Why does "way outdated" matter ? Why this update can't integrate into nlite using the Microsoft website update instead of the add on.
  19. Excellent ... That was a perfect explanation.. .. and thank you again. OK so you know your code well enough (or more) to understand how the Nlite works but I always see that this guy 'Nuhi' (I think that's it) that designed the software can't continue for whatever reasons,etc... You should pick up the ball and roll with it. Windows 7 will inevitably be creating service packs and updates in the future plus most of us are still on Xp at least for another few years.
  20. God dude, you are awesome.. Thank you so very much.. I was really doing it the hard way - lol - .. ( Im talking about your hook up "Windows XP High-Priority Update List for use with nLite" ) Hey man, why don't some of those hotfixes/updates work in nLite ? I mean if you get them from windows update site.. if you could be really specific or even any knowledge would help. Thank you so much for that hook up man that was freaking awesome..
