Thanks, Mim0. By the way, this option to remove catalog files when USP 5.1 is slipstreamed is very wrong. USP 5.1 neither disables nor breaks SFC. It's only during the installation that a hacked syssetup.dll is being used but after that it's replaced with the original one. At the end there are no hacked files in the system after the installation is finished which means that (unless you do disable SFC) there is no reason to delete the CAT files!

Please provide a list of files left in LIST.

After installing this "modified" version of UURollup-v10 could you check file version of NTKRNLPA.EXE and NTOSKRNL.EXE present in %systemroot%\system32? Could you also repeat the procedure from #19 but this time commenting "shell32.dll" too? After the installation please check files version of shell32.dll.

I hope you didn't disable the files in v9b... This is exactly what I'm asking for 1. Unpack v9b. Open update.ver and remove all lines except the first one. Don't touch update.inf. Install UURollup using update.exe and reboot. 2. After reboot check if IE6 is working properly. If yes then go to 3. 3. Unpack v10. Open update.inf and disable all lines with ntkrnlmp.exe, ntkrnlpa.exe, ntkrpamp.exe and ntoskrnl.exe. Don't touch update.ver. Install UURollup using update.exe and reboot. 4. After reboot check if IE6 is working properly. Share the results. If these kernel files are indeed buggy then there won't be UURollup-v10b but rather UURollup-v11. This is too serious issue for a minor update (b,c,d,e, etc. are minor updates).

Maybe he wants something like this?

Yes, iexplore.exe is the IE6 launcher. Actually you can just input a http:// address in Windows Explorer and it will work from there too. That's one of the reasons IE is said to be integrated in Windows Could you try to launch Tapin in Safe Mode? Is it still the same? Also could you create a new user account and check if the situation is the same there too? Let's try some basics solutions before implementing something more serious. Edit: I think I've found the culprit! Before doing anything else could you tell me what CPU is used in your machine?

Great At the moment you can ignore all files from the FILES directory as they are compatible with your system. The ones present in LIST are the problem. I'll give you more details later but I can say for sure that: atl100.dll atl70.dll atl71.dll autoitx3.dll clip.exe cygwin1.dll empty.cat hfsecper.inf hfsecupd.inf kernelXP.dll libiconv2.dll libintl3.dll libmmd.dll libpng15.dll mfc100.dll mfc100u.dll mfc70.dll mfc70u.dll mfcm100.dll mfcm100u.dll msvci70.dll msvcp100.dll msvcp70.dll msvcr100.dll msvcrt10.dll NTDETECT.COM NTLDR scripten.inf SERVICES takeown.exe taskkill.exe tasklist.exe vcomp100.dll zlib1.dll spupdsvc.exe can be moved to FILES too. Edit: Firefox will not work with UURollup (Global).

I use KDiff3 to easily compare folders. It compares all files and you can also compare the content of text files too. In fact, a lot of files were added to UURollup-v10 if you compare it with v9b but only a few of them are really significant. The new shell32.dll is definitely the most important difference between them. Tomorrow I'll try to check them thoroughly. Edit: I've managed to do a quick comparison of the information .txt files and these are all "new" files in UURollup-v10: autoitx3.dll 3.3.8.1 comct232.ocx 6.0.98.16 comct332.ocx 6.7.0.9816 comctl32.ocx 6.0.98.16 comdlg32.ocx 6.1.98.16 cygwin1.dll 1007.15.0.0 dblist32.ocx 6.1.98.16 gdiplus.dll 5.2.6002.22791 HAL.DLL 5.0.2195.6692 halaacpi.dll 5.0.2195.6692 halacpi.dll 5.0.2195.6692 halapic.dll 5.0.2195.6692 halborg.dll 5.0.2195.6692 halmacpi.dll 5.0.2195.7007 halmps.dll 5.0.2195.7007 halsp.dll 5.0.2195.6692 hfsecper.inf hfsecupd.inf libeay32.dll 1.0.1.3 libiconv2.dll 1.12.2872.39125 libintl3.dll 0.14.4.1952 libmmd.dll 12.0.12.2 libpng15.dll 1.5.10.0 libssl32.dll 1.0.1.3 mci32.ocx 6.1.98.16 mscomct2.ocx 6.1.98.16 mscomctl.ocx 6.1.98.33 mscomm32.ocx 6.1.98.16 msdatgrd.ocx 6.1.98.16 msdatlst.ocx 6.1.98.16 msflxgrd.ocx 6.1.98.14 mshflxgd.ocx 6.1.98.16 msinet.ocx 6.1.98.16 msmask32.ocx 6.1.98.16 msstdfmt.dll 6.1.98.16 msstkprp.dll 6.1.98.16 msvcp60.dll 6.2.3104.0 msvcrt10.dll mswinsck.ocx 6.1.98.17 normaliz.dll 6.0.5441.0 notepad.exe 5.1.2600.5512 ntkrnlmp.exe 5.0.2195.7382 ntkrnlpa.exe 5.0.2195.7382 ntkrpamp.exe 5.0.2195.7382 ntoskrnl.exe 5.0.2195.7382 openal32.dll 6.14.357.25 picclp32.ocx 6.1.98.16 richtx32.ocx 6.1.98.16 shell32.dll 5.0.3900.7171 sndrec32.exe 5.1.2600.5671 ssleay32.dll 1.0.1.3 sysinfo.ocx 6.1.98.16 tabctl32.ocx 6.1.98.16 uniproc\ntdll.dll 5.0.2195.7084 update.sys 5.0.2195.7160 wrap_oal.dll 2.2.0.7 zlib1.dll 1.2.5.0 Most of them come from Kel's Runtimes and I really *doubt* these ones would cause any of the problems you've experienced. After doing that these are left: HAL.DLL 5.0.2195.6692 halaacpi.dll 5.0.2195.6692 halacpi.dll 5.0.2195.6692 halapic.dll 5.0.2195.6692 halborg.dll 5.0.2195.6692 halmacpi.dll 5.0.2195.7007 halmps.dll 5.0.2195.7007 halsp.dll 5.0.2195.6692 normaliz.dll 6.0.5441.0 ntkrnlmp.exe 5.0.2195.7382 ntkrnlpa.exe 5.0.2195.7382 ntkrpamp.exe 5.0.2195.7382 ntoskrnl.exe 5.0.2195.7382 shell32.dll 5.0.3900.7171 uniproc\ntdll.dll 5.0.2195.7084 update.sys 5.0.2195.7160 Do you see anything strange? I do There should be present: ntdll.dll 5.0.2195.7084 uniproc\ntdll.dll 5.0.2195.7084 but there's only one of them, i.e.: uniproc\ntdll.dll 5.0.2195.7084 It means that there is a bug in UURollup-v10. I forgot to update the multiprocessor ntdll.dll. At the moment UURollup-v10 has two different versions of ntdll.dll, like this: ntdll.dll 5.0.2195.7083 uniproc\ntdll.dll 5.0.2195.7084 The first one is a multiprocesser one and the second one is a uniprocessor file. On the other hand I don't think that fixing it will have any effect on your problem as you're using a single-core CPU, right? Still, thanks to you we've managed to find it I'll fix the bug first and then we can continue the investigation. There are only 15 new files to check. Edit2: Actually not even 15. I'm almost sure one of the following files is faulty (update.sys is very unlikely to be the one): ntkrnlmp.exe 5.0.2195.7382 ntkrnlpa.exe 5.0.2195.7382 ntkrpamp.exe 5.0.2195.7382 ntoskrnl.exe 5.0.2195.7382 shell32.dll 5.0.3900.7171 update.sys 5.0.2195.7160 We can do real testing now Could you launch the VM, install UURollup-v9b again (using the modified update.ver), and check if everything is OK? Do not uninstall anything - just install it over the existing updates. If everything is OK with v9b then you should try to install v10 again but disable in the update inf (add ; at the beginning) all lines containing: ntkrnlmp.exe ntkrnlpa.exe ntkrpamp.exe ntoskrnl.exe Leave "shell32.dll" and "update.sys" untouched. I suspect these kernel related files to cause the problem.

1) I think there was a misunderstanding. Could you please start from the beginning (unpack the Rollup once again, etc.), run the script from #62 and after that make a list of all files from the UURollup directory EXCEPT the ones which have been moved to the "FILES" folder.? 2) I've tried to run the game but even after fixing all the dependencies there was still an error on startup. Unfortunately I don't think I can help you more in this case
-
I can't see anything strange in the logs. The errors you can see at the beginning are the "standard" one always present in these logfiles. I wonder whether the problem with Tapin Radio may be related to this one. Could you try to open a website in IE6 and right-click on it?
-
This is actually very good news because now we know for sure that v9b is OK while v10 is not OK which means that there indeed must be something in v10 that causes the problems. The bad thing is that I can't reproduce the problem here so it's impossible for me to test it myself but I'll have a look at the differences between v9b and v10 and try to figure out what may be the reason.
-
I don't see any particular problems in the log files, except for the second "partial" one which is broken. I hope I'm guessing correctly... did you install the two WildBill's updates over UURollup-v10? If yes then it's no surprise that the applications don't work because some files from UURollup have been overwritten with different ones coming from the two updates. Anyway, at the moment I think doing two more tests may be helpful: 1) Could you install UURollup-v9b (you can find it here, look for "TEMP - UURollup-v9b" at the bottom) in the VM (but don't remove any already installed packages)? But don't do a normal installation but rather unpack it, open "update\update.ver" and remove everything from there except the first line. After that run update.exe and install it, and after reboot please try to run IE6 and check if everything is ok. 2) If no problems occur with UURollup-v9b then you could try to install UURollup-v10 again (as before, don't remove anything before installing it) but this time you should open "update\update.inf" and remove (disable) all lines containing "shell32.dll". After that you can install it by running update.exe. The difference between UURollup-v10 and UURollup-v9b is not significant. The only important change is the new shell32.dll from BlackWingCat. Let's check if it is the culprit.
-
You said you had the same problem with IE6 on your desktop (not VM), right? This is very strange... Could you try to install only WildBill's kernel instead of UURollup-v10 and check if the problem still occurs? The same kernel32.dll is included there. If possible, use the VM to test this. I've just checked "charmap.exe" from XP on my desktop and it does work. Lastly, coming back to UURollup, could you send me the "UURollup-v10.log" which is located in your Windows (%systemroot%) folder?
-
I think we should try to fix the Tapin Radio problem first because something definitely seems to be broken in the system. Have you ever installed any other unofficial packages except for UURollup? Could you run WinUpdatesList and create a report (just select all items -> File -> Save Selected Items)? Could you also run from commandline "tasklist.exe>tasklist.txt" and post the result? Edit: Actually a HTML report from WinUpdatesList will be better than a text one. One more thing: Is "UURollup-10.log" present in your "%systemroot%\" directory? I'd like to check whether there were any errors during the installation of UURollup.

@CoffeeFiend There's one important point that the older versions of HashTab did support different (older) Windows (NT4.0 and 2K here to be specific). In such a case providing additional information that the new one doesn't is kind of logical, isn't it? They actually did it before. I can't understand why such information has been removed from the website. More than that, there isn't even any changelog available.
-
The bugs (freezes, etc.) seem to be gone in the new development snapshot of Opera Next so there's hope that the next version of Opera 12 will work fine in Win2k.
-
1. Could you now delete "files.txt" and re-run the script from #56? We'll be able to list the remaining files. And yes , most of the files included in UURollup-v10 should be multilanguage / language neutral. 2. Unfortunately I don't know anything about the games you're talking about Can you give me any link or more information where I can find them?
-
I have just tested UURollup-v10 & IE6 on two VMs: 1) A fully updated system + UURollup-v10. 2) Only USP5.1 + UURollup-v10. On both of them IE6 runs fine. I don't think there's any problem with the kernel32.dll (UURollup uses WildBill's kernel). Could you give more details about the VM you used to test? Was it a clean Win2k or were there any other updates installed?
-
As for the icons, I'll try to install Ultraedit here and check if the problem occurs. What do you mean by "breaking" Tapin Radio? I don't use it but I've just installed and checked it on my desktop (of course with UURollup-v10 installed) and it seems to work... Could you try to reinstall the program (or use a portable installation)? Edit: One more question related to the icon problem - Have you got 32-bit colours (True Color) enabled? Edit: I can confirm for sure that Tapin Radio works. I'm listening to it right now.

1. The other lines do NOT matter. You only need to remove (or disable by adding ";" at the beginning) the ones I mentioned above The other lines are related to slipstreaming (/integrate) and the ones under "[sourceDisksFiles]" do not matter at all. 2. USP 5.1 won't affect the applications. I myself installed USP 5.1 like that here (with UURollup and many other updates installed in the system before). USP 5.1 won't overwrite any files which have newer version than the ones included in it so there's no way it will overwrite anything from UURollup. 3. To make it simple, installing: IE6.0sp1-KB885258-Windows-2000-XP-x86-ENU.exe IE6.0sp1-KB905495-Windows2000-x86-ENU.exe IE6.0sp1-KBz2416400-v2-Windows2000-x86-ENU.exe IE6.0sp1-KBz2467659-v2-Windows2000-x86-Global.exe IE6.0sp1-KBz2544521-v2-Windows2000-x86-Global.exe should be enough.

Actually, "-" stands for "Language Neutral" The script did its job. It listed multilanguage / language neutral files. Now, could you run this one (also from the UURollup folder)? @ECHO OFF IF NOT EXIST FILES MD FILES IF EXIST files.txt DEL/Q files.txt FOR /F %%I IN ('DIR/B *.ttc *.ttf *.sys *.ocx') DO ( ECHO %%I - ECHO>>files.txt %%I - ) MOVE *.ttc FILES\ >NUL MOVE *.ttf FILES\ >NUL MOVE *.sys FILES\ >NUL MOVE *.ocx FILES\ >NUL FOR /F %%I IN ('DIR/A-D/B/S *.*') DO ( IF EXIST %systemroot%\system32\%%~nI%%~xI ( FOR /F "tokens=4" %%J IN ('filever.exe %%I') DO ( FOR /F "tokens=4" %%K IN ('filever.exe %systemroot%\system32\%%~nI%%~xI') DO ( IF "%%J"=="%%K" ( ECHO %%~nI%%~xI %%J ECHO>>files.txt %%~nI%%~xI %%J MOVE %%I FILES\ ) ELSE ( ECHO %%~nI%%~xI %%K ECHO>>files.txt %%~nI%%~xI %%K ) ) ) ) ) It will move most of the "compatible" files to a folder "FILES" (and also list all files with their language version in files.txt). By compatible I mean files that do not require translation.

Windows 2000 on a Acer Aspire One AO532h

As the BSOD still persists you should try to add the SATA drivers using nLite and set your controller to AHCI/RAID mode. -
I have just uploaded a merged installer for .NET Frameworks 1.0, 1.1 and 2.0, i.e. netfx101120. Even though three different .NETs are included it's still only 35 MB Edit: I've also added detailed information about the USP to the first post.

You can't. You need to follow the instructions I gave link to above. It's pretty simple though And I still strongly recommend integrating the SATA drivers. -

Are you sure you can fully switch to the IDE mode? I'd just try to add SATA drivers for ICH7R (the official ones support Win2k; if you can't find a proper one then try BlackWingCat's unofficial drivers). You can use nLite to add drivers very easily. How large is the HDD? If it's larger than ~160GB then you should enable 48-bit LBA.
