    Mark over at Warp2Search has reported this info taken some info on ATI's next gen cards from the latest catalyst 3.1 ati2mtag.sys file.

    The recently launched Catalyst 3.1 driver update now tell us what these code-name chips will likely to be called when the final products arrive. This is as follows:

    RV280 is likely to be called Radeon 9200. This will appear in both "Pro"and Non-Pro version.

    RV350 is likely to be called Radeon 9600, and there is no mention of Pro or non-pro version in the drivers (at this time)

    R350 is likely to be called Radeon 9800 (not 9900 as recent rumors suggest) and again there's no mention in the drivers at this time of Pro or Non-Pro version of this chipset.

    I think im gonna get a 9800 when they come out i was planning on getting a GF-FX at some time but was very disapointed at the benchmarks nvidia was claiming something like 50% faster when they was hyping the card up but its more like 5-10% which isnt good enough then take into consideration its poor pixel shader 2.0 performance which is half of that of a radeon 9700 it doesnt look like it will perfrom to well in future dx9 games that will make heavy use of pixel shader 2.0 and the noise is enough to drive anyone crazy! even an 80mm delta fan (we all know how loud those beasts are) are a few decibels lower than the hoover on a GF-FX

    this is probably my longest post on the forum yet :) do i get a reward?

    ive noticed in my modem logs it no longer says "recieved 1024_256.cfg" or what ever it used to say now i get

    Retrieved TFTP Config File SUCCESS

    Modem Capabilities configuration setting

    where it used to say which config file u had downloaded

    it also says

    4-Error X501.35 Unit Update Failed.

    7-Information F502.1 Bridge Forwarding Enabled.

    4-Error X501.28 Unit Update - Not updating. This image is not for this platform.

    which it didnt used to i guess they have changed it now the modems u get are the new model

    if its not about oil or some other bulls*** why do they need to wage war on the country when some sas or someone else could nip in take saddam out and any one else who thinks they could snatch the thrown.

    why does britain always get dragged into americas wars anyway?

    america has usually armed or trained whoever there going after.

    saddam would have been dead last time if it wasnt for the americans ,who was it 5mins away from storming the palace and assasinating him last time :)

    Need Help With My Microphone !

    in the sound properties mute your microphone under the playback properties so u dont here yourself threw your speakers people will still be able to hear you but u wont hear yourself.

    because if you have your speakers close to your microphone you will here a humming sound and will sound distorted.

    u was barely infront of my 2001 score or was u behind? i know i could close the gap if i really tried :rolleyes: dont make me do it lol.

    forcing pixel shader 1.1 on radeons makes them do better than there default ps 1.4 ,but it crashs at the troll test for some reason ,i noticed a 2fps increase on the second game test though from avg 7fps to avg 10.

    after my pc crashed and windows did scan disk at startup i had 222mb of crosslinked chains :) hope it was only 3dmark that borked on my harddisk

    Dx9 cards do well out of the test. anything else... forget it
    they dont do aswell as u might expect
    System:

    AXP2600+

    512 ram

    ATI 9700 Pro

    Pixel Shader 1.4 and Vertex Shader 1.1 forced:

    3648 3DMarks

    Pixel Shader 1.1 and Vertex Shader 1.1 forced:

    3189 3DMarks

    With those shaders forced, game test 4 won't run and provides an interesting comparison between the shader versions. Further testing is needed on the 9700, and the 8500 and 9000 results should tell a lot more of the story.

    gains about 400-500 points in that test

    pretty sweet looking cant wait to get an r350 and see it in action as i get 6000+ points in a few months :).

    i get 1200 atm with my crap system gonna do some more tweaking and overclocking i reckon i can squeeze 1400 out of this pos

    3dmark2003 Is Closer!

    i feel sorry for people with dx7 cards that are only gonna be able to run the 1st game test :)

    by my calculations there is around 18hours until the counter hit zero unless they change the script to make the counter faster or slower again

    btw the program is 177mb :rolleyes:

    for anyone not awear the last time they used a counter for when 3dmark2001 was going to be released the futuremark site got hammered so badly by people wanting download links that there site was unreachable for a good few hours so i expect its gonna be a pain in the arse trying to download the new one.
