  1. I've had no security logs either in Win2k Pro, since it was installed back in March. It's probably for something else?
  2. Kerio Personal Firewall 2.15 Moving to a Linux Smoothwall box if I get broadband
  3. well... I've not used NetBIOS on any of my 3 PCs, and have used folder sharing, FTP'ing, NAT routing, Mail Server, the lot. It's also not binded to any of my connections.
  4. The PCForrest site that hosted it is gone, luckily I still had a copy, good app! http://vzone.virgin.net/aaron.stevens/oemi...info_Editor.rar
  5. Good to have you around Whistler "Beta Guru"
  6. Why would you want to install the NetBios protocol on Windows 2003 to be able to see a Win2K machine? That's absurd. TCP/IP does fine, even for OSs as far back as NT/95. Installing another protocol also slows down the speed of the network in question.

    MSN 6.0!

That's kinda pretty stupid, MSN Messenger 6 forcing a freeze cos someone's timezone/clock is wrong

    MSN 6.0!

What build is it? (Help > About MSN Messenger) If its lower than Version 6.0 (6.0.0268) then uninstall it via Add/Remove in Control Panel, then install the newer build 0268 for Windows 98/ME at this link: http://g.msn.com/7MEEN_US/PREVIEW/EN/SETUP9X.EXE We believe that users who have updated over their older versions is causing the 'sign in freeze'. So uninstalling an old version and then installing a new version should ensure a clean install without problems
  12. Yeah the system folder isn't visible to some people for some reason (could be dependant on how people set up their OS or the upgrading methods they used)
  13. The Ad-removal patch works for the preview version, the download link is at: http://www.MSFN.org/comments.php?id=3729&catid=1 And as for the prompt asking you to update, I don't think its possible to disable that... but then, the prompt only appears every week doesn't it?
  14. Several other peeps seem to be having the same problem: http://www.MSFN.org/board/index.php?act=ST&f=19&t=6937 We've got no idea what's could be causing it at the moment.

    MSN 6.0!

Moved from Other MS Software (Office, IE, etc.)
  16. yes, but considered stable enough for the public to use.
  17. Have you been to the Office Update site to check for updates? I remember there being a patch for Project 2000 to fix a problem that occured in Win2k3, but I can't remember what exactly. If there's no updates, then it was probably for Project 2000 Central, a different version from the Project 2000 client.
  18. If you have an older copy of Visio 2003 installed, you must uninstall it. And, what version of Office 2003 are you using?

  20. 512kbps ADSL is the current average in the UK, can go up to 2mb/sec, but mostly its for businesses but its in the process of being offered for home users. There's also several exchanges in London that's offering 6Mbps ADSL (and London only ) For cable users, most people are probably on 1Mbps, with the option to upgrade to 2Mbps (Not NTL though) Couple of towns in Scotland are being fed the Internet via power lines, 1Mbit both ways And me, stuck in a remote part of England, on a trusty 56k. bah.
  21. Welcome to MSFN! Now get posting!
