Bios settings, and device manager settings are fine. Device manager doesn't report any conflicts..
  2. Hi guys, I have a big problem...here's the situation: Company with app 1200 users, PC cloning, domain, group and local policy enforced etc.. All of a sudden we're getting this error. When you start computer you login and run the mode com1 from command prompt and you get the status for it, but after short period of time (few minutes) you get the error shown in the picture...
  3. Ok guys, should I change the value for EnablePrefetcher in WinXP to 1 or should I create new key with the "EnableSuperfetch = 1" value?

Well, my situation is: 2x180GB Maxtor RAID 0 disks...so I guess it would be disk keeper..

  9. Ok, I guess you can't see tabs of open folders or apps in your taskbar. Try to unlock your taskbar and adjust it so you can see this...

    NSC TPM Error

Unfortunatelly we didn't solve this problem. That device is something that IBM is starting to implement in their new PC-s. We've just disabled this device. If you make a clean install of Windows and then tried to update this device, everything is working normally..
  13. Tanx, did it the hard way thru GPEDIT.MSC -->> I really dislike having passwords on my client computers. I only have the SERVER passworded <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Touche Diggity noob It seems that after all I was the one who helped the man, not u, so.....
  14. Yeah, right, that helped for sure
  15. I've fixed it with changing the user who can take ownership of the files in local security policy (administrator is default)... If anyone has better suggestion please let me know...
  16. I have to agree with you. Network PC-s should be password protected although this security setting is for situations just like this one, where users don't enter their passwords..In this case no network connection could be made..
  17. No, he doesn't, he can also disable "blank passwords not allowed" option in local security policy...
  18. Set an administrator password 'cause local security policy doesn't allow you to log on localy..reason: blank passwords not allowed... You can either change this setting local security policy and change this setting or (the easier way) to set an administrator password....
  19. Here's the situation: I have a laptop which is mostly used by me, and rarely by few other department colleagues.. I want to deny access to my profile folder to anyone who uses this laptop.. I have set permissions on profile folder so that only I have full control permission and removed all other entries from the list... I've taken ownership of the folder and even tried to put an encryption on it but in every case another user who has to be i local administrators group can take ownership of the folder and grant himself permissions he wants... Is it possible to resolve this or maybe some third-party tool which can help me... Thx all in advance...

    Sp2 Issue

Hi all, I need to install SP2 on several network machines which are very far from my location and the only way is to install it remotely.. The problem is that after the SP2 is installed and restart is made you'll not be able to connect to that PC 'cause the firewall is turned on by default.. How can I avoid this problem? Can I use some switch or reg key which will prevent Windows Firewall from starting after SP2 installation finishes? Thx..
  21. You can connect to it remotely with remote desktop or some third party program like VNC and change it's name.
  22. I would recommend you Acronis True Image, I'm very satisfied with it
  23. I'm using it and found it very good, before I've used Spybot S&D and AdAware PE
  24. This will not uninstall messenger completely. You have to use XPAntiSpy tool to remove it from the system completely..
  25. Thanks, that last one was it! yep, that was in local security policy..
