  1. Here's an update: I had an install going when I noticed your reply, so I was actually trying to manuall put shortcut.exe in system32 already. Seems this is all that's needed. Manually putting it in system32 corrected the shortcut problem for me. Before doing this, the command you gave did not work - as shortcut.exe wasn't extracted at all.
  2. I have the file in the archive, but it doesn't extract to windows/system32.
  3. I'll have a look at it However, the patch method didn't work for me at all. After the unattended install I get the normal windows look.
  4. How about themes? I really like xpize except for the DOS window
  5. This is weird - I don't get any shortcuts, but my progs are installed and working. Any idea?
  6. Actually, I was unable to download Think you could e-mail ?
  7. Ok, thanks! I'll look into it a bit more tomorrow. WS_FTP worked once I changed the iss to the one quoted instead of the generated one Cheers!
  8. Ok, thanks - that's similar to how I'm doing it at the moment I just don't copy too much off of the CD. I'm not really trying to show text. One of my installers pops up a readme-file and pskill'ing notepad.exe doesn't seem to work so I figured I could try to display which processes are running in order to find out what else to kill in order to get rid of the text-file.
  9. Thanks for the quick reply! 1. Is there a way to tell WPI to install something on first logon? 2. Stramge thing is that I used to just import the reg on 1.6, but everybody seems to have problems with 1.7. Maybe the trick is to install a reg'd 1.6 first and then silently upgrade? Must try and update the isobuster thread if it works [add mental note] 3. Yeah, that's what I thought too. Originally I had it all in WPI and was expecting it to run the pskill as soon as the install completed - but I guess it never *will* complete until the window is killed seeing it doesn't kill the install process until this window is gone. Think I need to get a voodoo-doll and torment the people who made this app! 5. Yeah, I'd already checked this post and was generating my own iss. Seems it didn't put enough info in it, so I tried copying the source provided in the post. Thanks for the help! I swear I tried to search first ;o)
  10. Cheers! The main things I would like to do is: ---------------- start /wait %cdrom%\Install\XPsmoker\xpspro.exe /VERYSILENT start /wait pskill xpsmoker.exe --------------- and ---------------- start /wait setup_scxpv2.2.61.Exe /S start /wait pskill notepad.exe --------------- If you help me with these two, and I'd appreciate it if you had an example doing even more, I should be able to figure out the rest for myself. BTW: Do you know what the process name of the process showing txt files during install is ? It doesn't seem to be notepad...
  11. Hi there! This board has been a tremendous resource for me this, and last, time I made an unattended CD. However, I'm having problems installing a few apps. Any help on the following would be greatly appreciated! They're all done through WPI, but I hardly think that should matter. 1. Microsoft Office 2003: The interesting thing about this installation, which I did following MSFN's guide, works perfectly when run from WPI after the computer is installed, but not at T-13 (or was it 12?). It starts up, works for a while, and then nothing is done. 2. IsoBuster: This installation works fine, but it doesn't seem to import the registry file (it's entered in there correctly). Strange thing here is that it's not reg'd when I start it after the automatic install, but if I double click the reg it works like a charm. 3. Waresoft XPsmoker: This setup starts just fine, but I cannot kill the nag window after the installation is completed. My last attempt was with a batch file. It starts the install, but doesn't kill the nag. My cmd is as follows: start /wait %cdrom%\Install\XPsmoker\xpspro.exe /VERYSILENT start /wait pskill xpsmoker.exe 4. Cacheman XP: almost the same problem as with #3. Readme.txt is opened in a notepad window (even though I cannot be sure if it's actually notepad during install). Tried the following, which works when the 'puter is done installing: start /wait setup_scxpv2.2.61.Exe /S start /wait pskill notepad.exe 5. Anyone know a good of installing ws_ftp pro 9 ? Cheers!
  12. Will this open a command window (so I need to hide it with cdow or whatever it's called) or will WPI supress it ?
  13. Hey all! First of all - great app, and very easy to use Now, I'm having two problems with WPI. Both are related. 1. When installing apps through WPI I cannot kill screens with pskill like I used to. Specifically this relates to at least two programs which I had working fine with a batch script. I don't see any reason running both a cmd and WPI, so I'd rather move everything in here. The tasks I would like to kill are xpspro.exe/xpsmoker.exe (both start after installing the app), and a readme.txt opened in notepad. Killing both works fine after windows is installed, so there must be something during installation. I know for a fact that pskill works and is in the path. 2. I would very much like to see a debug script that will let me see running processes and try different approaches *REAL TIME*. Reinstalling the whole VM just to tweak one installation sucks, and getting a prompt asking for a command line to execute would be soooooo much nicer. Any takes? Pri one is #1, #2 is merely a suggestion or a cry for help from someone who has made something like this already Cheers!
  14. Hi all! I'm trying to do a full unattended install of Eudora, but I'm having some problems. I tried just unpacking eudora.exe, but apparantly I don't have an unpacker that can do this (any suggestions ?). Instead I started the setup and copied the files out of the tmp dir. Now, when I start setup -R the install will ask for data2.cab - which I don't have. Any suggestions ? Cheers!
  15. The beauty of runonceex, methinks, is that if you can't get it to work, just call the darn cmd file from the runeonceex. If you use the util for hiding cmd windows noone will know anyway...
  16. Hey guys, I have a couple of questions I've been trying to find the answer to - hope someone can help me out a bit I want to make a default account setting up icons and stuff, and I guess copying the default profile is the easiest choice here - anyone know the "right" way to do this ? Also, I'm trying to make a few changes: using the silver version of the XP theme autohiding the task bar setting the taskbar to double height showing the status bar in explorer showing hidden files showing extensions for known files -Anyone know where to find these registry hacks, and possible similar ones ? Can these be applied to the default account (by reg files), or do they have to be added on a per user basis ? Thanks! My CD is coming on real well thanks to this place
