  1. Check the first post- it's here! Sorry to keep everyone waiting. From now on, I'll try to stay on top of this thread instead of forgetting about it xD This worked fine for me on my W7 Home Premium x64 installation. Everyone can also find me on SevenForums SFT group ~ http://www.sevenforums.com/general-discuss...builds-sft.html And since there wasn't enough room to attach the source files in post #1, I'll post them here if that's ok. Note: This is from 0.1 so it is 99% the same and probably better than 0.2 due to compatibility. Source.zip
  2. Just an update for 7Slimmer: Some x64 users are having issues with this app. This will be fixed in the next release, which hopefully will be written in java :] But for now just run the commands manually if you have an error. Think of 7Slimmer as beta... But if you like to program then upload your own version! We need other people to contribute I can't really program worth crap xD EDIT (like a week later): nobody is having any problems at all?
  3. First of all, thanks for your help. Going to give it a try. I also maintain a guide that now has a semi-gui. If you are a noob modding x86, it's pretty solid. I say x86 cuz some x64 users are incompatible with the 16-bit choice.com file, so the user-selection is not gonna work. Anyway, if you want the full power of removal.bat, this is the right thread. Having a detailed guide is nice, but the cost comes down to user customizibility. The point of vLite is to customize Windows for the end-user. If you have any errors, it will be your own fault 95% of the time. Unless your using one of my programs, then its probably because I suck at programming
  4. @Rommsey: I think it comes down to choice.com, a 16 bit executable, not being supported in x64. This seemed to work fine in all x86 platforms I tested (I only have legit copies for 32-bit). One of my friends has an err... not-as-legit W7 x64 I can test on this weekend. Back to the issue: a choice.com that works universally. I got that file from a redistributable DOS floppy 6.22 I had, so I think it would be best to run the user selection through set -p than to use if statements and multiple versions of choice. The new problem is that I really don't know how to do that
  5. See first post for the new semi GUI! It's finally here... beta for now until I get more than 10 minutes at a time to work on it. Who knows I might get some extra credit in computer science cuz of this lol. Jeronimo, thanks for the info. Actually it wasn't the errorlevel itself that was messing me up, I just forgot my goto end statement after option1
  6. sirjustin1, I ran into the same problems installing an extremely stripped down version (ie it fit on a cd rom) onto my old 800mhz P3 micro tower. I solved this by integrating all concievable drivers into the image. (it grew by 40 mb). You can use removalXX.bat drivers to do that
  7. Just an update, I'm currently almost done with user-selection interface!!! The only little thing left is figuring out why the errorlevels are being weird... oh well though. Has the new guide and scripts been working ok for everyone?
  8. Yup and you can replace user.bmp with your user.bmp for a custom image
  9. Jeronimo, I updated my guide I ran in to way too many issues with removal_custom, so I decided to drop it for now. I have implemented some new things, but I really hope to squeeze out a signifigant update soon. I also added a guide for Windows 7 Toolkit... neat little program Dude seriously I give up how do you make a user-input batch file??? I'm stumped! I wanna set it up to say something like 'Press 1 for Packages' or 'Press 2 for cleanup' thanks
  10. @theKramer it really shouldn't matter that much which version you install, but I would recommend a normal install just in case
  11. As soon as I update my thread with a newer tut, I was thinking about adding some Youtube videos to go with it I think that all the guides available are reasonably easy to follow, though.
  12. I don't know for sure, but I think your probrem wasn't completely solved by just uninstalling the old WAIK. For example, vLite copies wimflt and wimgapi files from WAIK on first use. I recommend re-installing Windows and installalling WAIK Vista SP1 and see how that goes. I have run this from XP and Vista without problems, but just to be safe you may want to run it from a 'vanilla' Windows 7 installation
  13. Jeronimo can you help at all with that batch file problem I was having? (It was a few pages ago, it was like help.zip) I just need to make it a user-selection deal so all those batch files can be wrapped into an EXE file for easier use I guess I'll just write a newer guide for your latest guide for now... I'll see how practical for removal_custom is for beginners, I'll make it optional maybe. Oh well thanks for all your work, I'll start work on a GUI as soon as my schedule gets sorted out. lol.
  14. Use your own judgement really, but I recommend that you keep the ones that you aren't sure about. If you know that it's something you don't need/use, it may be smarter to just keep it.
  15. Some people were having the same problem on Jeronimo's thread. They solved the problem by using a different version of WAIK (should be Vista SP1) http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...;displaylang=en
  16. Just select some general components that you want gone. If you open SausageHack.ini you can see the components that were intended to be selected. Good luck
  17. You can only vLite a 64-Bit installation from a 64-Bit host OS. So basically yes you have to be running all this from a x64 OS.
  18. @ Jeronimo Hey I really haven't had a lot of time for working on computer stuff since school started, but I am hoping to roll out a compatible and functional guide for this ASAP. I technically already have made a good guide, but I also want to thoroughly test it and maybe make a semi-gui before I upload. Even if that doesn't happen, I would like to at least convert it to an EXE that lets you choose parameters by selection (like 1 for packages, press 2 for cleanup, etc.) I like the new concept of removal_custom.bat and I can see that it would come in handy. However, I don't know if I'll include it in the 'noob' guide. I will still keep it available though because I know that some people still want to use it as well as my guide. EDIT: I wrote some script for a user-selection menu but I am having troubl with it. Jeronimo I know your a batch file beast could you help me out? The description is in the ZIP along with my failure batch files xD So if anyone else wants to be an early adopter you can use this, but you need to fix the problems that I can't. help.zip
  19. Driver integration worked fine with DISM for me. I have a Synaptics Touchpad and nVidia graphics and both were working during the installation phase (i.e. screen resolution was corrected and I could scroll) Jeronimo I'll update the guide and consolidate everything once the new batch is out!
  20. oldghost, you might try manually putting that dll into the install.wim file. Then register it before or after you install the OS.
  21. Yup. Just added those parameters and seperated into x86 and amd64. I know you do the 'extreme removal,' so maybe there could be a version for you, but also a version that keeps IE8 and WMP 12? Thanks. I would take them out myself, but I really don't want to keep a perfectly safe to remove package. Just quote or PM me when and where the new batch is up Thanks!
  22. Ok lol It seems that you are the batch file genious around here. If you could write a batch that includes prep and fixreg, as well as other useful parameters, I would be more than happy to write a detailed and easy to follow guide for it. I like the idea of having only one batch file, but some people aren't very apt at editing it to suit their specific needs. I was thinking maybe a parameter for 32 bit and another for 64 bit? Maybe auto-detection based on a hash of a particular file? I not super scripter but let me know if any of that sounds good.
  23. Jeronimo, I have made this package to go with the guide. I understand what you mean about keeping it flexible, and like i said anyone can mod this. Maybe it would be cool if we worked together on a batch that could encompass both 32 and 64 bit, and include :prep and :fixreg Would that be cool?
  24. EDIT: Really soon: Here's Guide v3! The issue some people are having with x64 wasn't really a problem. When you run removal64.bat prep, it will copy files and then ask if SausageHack.ini is a file or a directory. Type 'F' for file name. Then, it will exit when it copies it over to the presets folder. The only change in version 3 is that now the prep script automatically exits after it does it's thing. xD *scattered applause* Guide_v3.zip
  25. Whew... finally got my laptop back, so more work with x64! I have heard some people getting stuck on WIM-Prompt, I'll be fixing that if it is indeed a problem. I apologize for not testing all aspects of these files before I uploaded them, I just wanted them uploaded hoping that other people could step in and work out bugs. Anyway, dead0 has a similar thread that focuses on not-so-extreme removal if anyone wants an alternative guide per se... Keep updated! Guide v3 will probably be up soon
