  1. well, i've tried to delete that "copy" in Unattended Windows, but failed since i was not granted the privilege. so pls delete it: http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=53957 thanks
  2. thanks! and i didn't intend to post the same question twice since the first one didn't reveal anything about the cause, while i mistakenly posted the second one in Unattended Windows. sorry for that! i'll delete the post in Unattended Window if endorsed!
  3. 1. via build-in protocals 1.1 in your network configuration: client for microsoft networks, tcp/ip protocal, file/printer sharing (3 musts) 1.2 by cable: remember that the 8 strands of one end of the cable should remain unswaped, swap the 8 strands of the other end of the cable. ask some one in the pc market to do this when you are preparing such a cable. 1.3 set the two computers to have the same group name and set the two pc's with static ip's that remain in the same ip range (ie, whatever the two static ip's are, the first 3 sections of the two static ip's should be the same) 1.4 restart the pc and connect them via two ethernet cards DONE!
  4. yesterday i posted a question on Babylon Pro translator and SP2: http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showto...3890&hl=babylon today i reinstalled xp and then sp2 and then Babylon, Babylon works. but, then i installed IE 7 beta, babylon doesn't work properly any more: Babylon couldn't display explanations of words and glossaries are disabled. then, i removed ie 7 beta, Babylon worked well again. hence it's clear the ie 7 bera conflicts with Babylon, yet by which/what mechanism does ie 7 disable Babylon from loading its glossaries? could someone help me to find this disabler out? thanks in advance, since i'm using babylon to learning Deutsch online

  6. does anyone know why Babylon can not load glossaries under sp2? pls
  7. thanks,Boooggy. since the sp2 was downloaded from M$ official site and i'm no expert of slipstreaming is it that the loading the glossaries when Babylon starts violates some mechanisms in sp2? hope there's a workaround
  8. hi,all last night i installed sp2 and ie7beta (i'm 100% sure that i've installed them correctly and then do both function as desired),but i got this problem tonight when i ran Babylon Pro V 5.05 in sp2: i can't see any glossaries information in the lower-right panel when typing any word into the search bar, and the "glossary" option of "configuration" the menu of Babylon gives nothing, though i'm sure that modules of eng-ger-en, en-ja-en have been installed. 'adding glossaries" and re-installation of babylon DID NOT sovle this problem. later, i added "babylon" as an allowed exception in the build-in firewall of sp2 (no 3rd party firewall and no antivirus software were installed on my pc) but DID NOT help solve this. under sp1, Babylon goes well, and i could always see the pop-up message when i start Babylon since i do not disable this pop-up reminder. since i don't want to rollback to sp1. could any one help me out of this? i've searched the net with Google but without an answer. any suggestions would be appriciated bow~
  9. thanks again for your further suggestion! this time i've got your real idea and i've posted YOUR IDEA on the bbs of Peking University of China as a reference for other keen university students like me! really, with my appreciation again!
  10. thanks a lot, Jaclaz! i've spent a whole day till at last a full "copy" of an existing xp os was got and worked perfectly. yet i didn't try out your idea because the word "should fix things up" in this sentence: "You can try booting from an XP CD-ROM and make a repair install, that "should" fix things up.", doesn't not make me fully ensured! anyway, i do appreciate your idea and i'll reserve it for a future trial if i have to copy an existing os onto another pc. the real reason why the copied os stops after showing the log-on dialog box could be extracted by booting the pc from the copied os in safe mode, which is "a problem is preventing windows from checking the lisence of the ......." so it's somthing from **(which i won't write out clearly) that prevents the copying of the whole of an existing xp os onto any pc with different hardware configurations. (copying an existing os onto another hard disk is equivalent to copying an os to a pc with a different hardware configuration.) so changing the keys containing the encodings of information on the hardwares and the product key in the registry of the copied os into those derived by a fresh installation of the xp os from the cd-rom would make the copied os work well! and this really succeeded. before this operation i'd spent about 7 days last summer questing the encoding mechanisms of **,hence i know where the encoded infomation resides in the registry. i'm now using this hybrid, copied os to reply to u! if i still keep writing what i'd done here, i'll probalby be accused of violating the copy rights law. sorry for that!
  11. thanks Vito! yet,i'd like to shift most of the operation to the new one, cause the old one has been used for about 3 years. the problem is that: the system copied from the original partition C: on the old one and that produced by dumping the image file corresponding to the system on partition c: of the old one DOES NOT WORK as expected,in that this copied os CAN NOT function well----------it goes dead after justing showing the log-on dialog box would u help me a bit more? bow~
  12. i've bought a new hard disk of 120g and wanted to move most but not all of the files on the old one of 40g onto the new one. most of all i want to copy the existing xp os on the old one to the new one before copying the existing xp os on the old one to the new one,i'd partitioned the new one into 3 primary partitions, which are for linux, win 2k3,win xp separately, and 9 logical partitions. then i tried to copy the whole partition c: with the existing xp os of the old hard disk to primary partition 3 on the new one,and booted the pc from the new one, but the booting process stopped right after the log-on dialog boxed appeared, nothing happened then, and pressing "strl+alt+del" gave nothing at all, except that the mouse was still active. and then i tried dumping primary partition 3 on the new one with an image file of the whole partition c: on the old one made by using Ghost, but the result is the same. one of my freinds sugested dumping from disk to disk, i.e., to dump the whole old disk into the new one,yet this will wipe out all the partitions and info and files on the new one, cause i've already stored some files on the new one and spend one whole night to partition the new one with Partition magic it's said that changing the hard configurations of a pc would make an existing xp os inaccessible cause the hash code produced won't match the new settings, is this related to the problem encountered? could there be some way else to copy an xp to a new hard disk, so as to save the painstaking job to reinsatll and set everything completely? thanks for any of your replies and suggestions
  13. thanks a lot! i've repartitioned the new hard disk and, made physically continuously allocated primary partition 3 where a copy of the existing xp os on my old hard drive should reside on the new disk and logical partition 1 on the new hard disk. leaving things on the old hard drive unchanged, i tried using partition magic 8 to dump the whole partition c: on the old hard disk to primary partition 3 on the new hard disk and changed the bios settings to let the pc boot from the new hard disk. but this problem occured: after showing the log on dialog box, the copied xp os on the new hard disk stays with a blue screen (cause the backgound of the style of the existing xp os is set to "none") and plunged into "death". only the mouse is functioning and that press "ctrl+alt-del" produces no system "log-oof" dialog box, strikes on the keyboard also produces no system information what went run? could u please hlep me once more?
  14. problem: could the separate installations of an OS and programs on different partitions affect the efficiency of the whole system? cause: 1> partition scheme yesterday i bought a 120g hard disk and paritioned it with Partition Magic using a whole night. the partitions are physically continously allocated in order as: "primary partition 1" to "primary partition 3" and, then for the extended partition, "logical patition 1" to "logical partition 9" 2> installation scheme i want to install xp on primary partition 1 and programs such as Photoshop, autoCAD on logical partition 1, which is physically two primary partitions of totally 12 g away from primary partition 1 3> my concern if for the time being, i'd like to use just this installation scheme, would it affect the efficiencies such as the time elapse demanded when xp on the primary partition 1 calls programs on logcial partition 1 and then runs it, of the system? could any one give some suggestions? thanks in advance bow~
  15. thanks and i'll have a try or make an oder!
  16. hi, i've intalled Office XP Speech and Handwriting Recognition Engine, hence i could use my mouse to write letters and words intead of striking the keyboard for inputs. yet it's awkwark and ... to write with a mouse, does someone have some ideas on how to turn a mouse into a pc pen? this would be an interesting attempt!

  24. hi,i've got the following question, though another one posted days ago has not been solved ye! :0 Does anybody know how to adjust the window size of the LegalNoticeText window that is set in the registry. THis is the window that pops up when a user logs onto a machine, notifying them of whatever message you specify in the registryWindows NT sets it automatically depending on the size of text specified. the specified key is: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsNT\ CurrentVersion\Winlogon\LegalNoticeCaption and HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsNT\ CurrentVersion\Winlogon\LegalNoticeText Any help would be great. thanks!
  25. 1. hi,Jito, again i couldn't open the link:http://www.proxomitron.info/ 2. Jaclas i've edited the code in Microsoft Notebook,Word and Frontpage by pasting it into the editing window and saving it as an HTML or ASP file, but the preview of the edited file is just a page with a grey backgound color and text being the same as the code. then i went the libray and found sth called Mcicosoft Script Editor and redirect in the webpage, could it be of some help to TRANSFORM THE CODE INTO A WEBPAGE? maybe the obstacle to fully understand your words lie in the capability to manipulate the code! 3.nolookingca i'm trying on your suggestion and am going to post my results on the thread! thanks to all!
