Hello all, i have a strange problem (to me atleast) I'm pushing down office 2003 to users. when user A logs onto a desktop PC, it all works fine the application gets installed as required. Now the problem is as soon a user A logs on to a terminal Server - the Application does not install itself as would happen on the desktop PC. How can i solve this issue ? without this i'm bust this has to work. Thanks Minus Human

yeah did that (on the terminal services profile tab - i left the user tab as that doesn't really matter when logging on through TS ** if i'm wrong correct me**) it still creates a profile in documents and settings. i'm trying to block that entirely. Minus Human

As you guys know when you log onto terminal services it creates the users profile under documents and settings. How can i prohibit that from happening and provide an alternate location. the reason ? i don't want 8000 user profiles under documents and settings !!! Thanks for the help. Minus Human

We use Cisco Routers but our users don't use routers to access any resources. We also have DHCP server active on our network. What I’d like to achieve is to have a list of MAC addresses in a List/database. Based on that the IP's get assigned if your MAC isn't in the list the you don't get an IP. Sorry if i misunderstand but that's what I’m getting at. Minus Human

OK Hello I'm hoping someone could tell me abit more or push me in the right direction on this. I want DHCP to assign IP's only to users that have their MAC addresses registered How can I set this up? Do these MAC addressed get entered some where in DHCP cause I can’t find an entry for it. Help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Minus Human

My NT4.0 at work doen't start ! need help !
Minus Human replied to webservices's topic in Windows 2000/2003/NT4
say what ? Phew you seem to have a problem. well i can't really think of alot of options to tell you the truth. If youre after your data that can be saved just get a copy of ghost, ghost the drive onto another. format your pc and restore the information from the drive you ghosted. Why on earth are you still using NT 4? -

Hope somebody can help here. We have rather big network i'm talking about 5000 PC's easy. The Problem is we are being hit by the Korg virus like crazy. ARP Broadcasts are at 90%. We are following the manual path of capturing the info and fixing the PC's shown to be most prominent. Although this is not as effective as you can well imagine. Do you guys have any better suggestions how this can be solved more efficiantly?? Help would be really great Thanks Minus Human

This is a strange question partly because i'm asking it for someone else. We have a guy doing the webdesign and he was saying he is able to view advanced error messages on his local PC 2000 Professional, that indicate the exact error of the page that his busy with IE . why it's not displaying at what level and line there appears to be a problem with the Html writing all that stuff. Now he would like to have the same option enabled on 2003 server. But for the life of me i can't find where or how he managed to do this. Could he have installed some other program that's doing this for him?? If so what is it and where can i get it. On the other hand is there an option in 2003 that will give this info. i already disabled friendly http error messages but that didn't work either. Thank You Minus Human

This is something that's been bugging me for awhile now. when users log into the terminal server they are abviously greeted with the 2003 server Std edition login window - as you would get when you login locally. Is it possible to customise that login window so that it doesn't display that ?? Possibly something relating to the location from where the login is being started ? Also including a company logo This would be awsome if someone could help with this Thanks Minus Human

that's an excellent idea never thought of that i have the background but an arrow pointing to in is brilliant. Then again these are students not the most attentive crowd in the world. Minus Human

Same here it's a small world hey Madgutts that's not a bad idea thanks . I also found the setting for "allow connection from original client only" i think that might also work. MIGHT work is the key word here Minus Human

has anybody encountered the problem that symantec antivirus ver9 slows down your windows 98 Machine ? we replaced it with 9 after running 8.1 without problems and it just hogs system performance by atleast 70% . what is up with that ?? Minus Human

Hello Again, We have terminal services deployed in our environment; because users come and go we use a single user ID that everyone can use. The problem with this is ( you guessed it) when a user disconnects another user may log in to the same session or if the certain number of users are connected the same scenario occurs where you log into a open session. We have already with GPO set that a disconnected session be logged off within a minute, but how do we keep people from logging into other people's open sessions? Thanks Minus Human

What about other Microsoft Certs ? are there any others you guys would recommend MCSA perhaps ? Minus Human

That's good to know I’m quite interested in immigrating to either US/Canada so its good to see that it will still help me if/when I get there. Exp is a good thing I’ve been working with 2000/2003 server for about 3 years now but I really want to get it "Formal" seeing as my NT4MCSE is not worth much nor have I really used it. What’s the feeling on Novell Cert VS Microsoft ? Minus Human
-
True, although with Lonhorn server in the pipeline how much is it worth ?? Minus Human
-
HIya, I was wondering what you’re feelings are on doing the MCSE for Windows 2003 server. Do you guys think it's worth it ? I’d appreciate some good advice on this if you have a minute. Also if not what do you guys suggest. Thanks Minus Human

Win03Srv: (urgent) Locked Administrator Account...
Minus Human replied to junale's topic in Windows 2000/2003/NT4
Well this might not be the best solution but it will work. Is server just a member server ? I hope so. Anyway if youre after just the data re-install 2003 server without formating the drive you will have all your data but all else will be lost Meh.. i know it's not ideal. Minus Human -
