Ah, you ment WIHU lite ... the name is confusing since this hasn't anything to do with WIHU. This was just a small helper tool for someone here who only wants to change a few settings. No problem, I'll try to add this.

As long as this CMD file is started from within WIHU, you may use these variables. Otherwise it's difficult to get this shell folder paths. You have to load it's user profiles (ntusers.dat) and read it out from there. Benjamin Kalytta

It should be fixed now. Problem was, that at the time when User profile was copied changed folders were not written back to registry Shell Folders. Btw. Im consider to add a feature to save selection that is made in format dialog so that selection need to be done only once. I.e. If path was changed from c:\ to d:\ for instance due unformated drive or something, WIHU will save this settings and will not call this dialog again. Benjamin Kalytta

What about using %Desktop% variable? This will return the desktop path of the user currently installing software in WIHU. Benjamin Kalytta

Sorry, but I can't reproduce this. Everythings works here with same settings like yours. OSD is turned off as soon as you click "Next" or select any entry in Software List. Benjamin Kalytta

if /AutoInstall is specified, WIHU will not exit WIHU immediately but it will wait a fixed time of 10 seconds until WIHU will exit automatically. No it shouldn't, but I'll check this soon. Benjamin Kalytta

It will only adapt to the folder where WIHU detected to be an unformated drive. In example screen shot above you'll see that this only concerns "My Music" shell folder. Benjamin Kalytta

@midiboy: Just try current version. It's possible to specify alternative path as an second option instead of just format. Sorry for not providing english dialog image, but currently my virtual PC where an english windows version is installed on is damaged. Benjamin Kalytta

I'll try to clean up my current code a bit. @Maelstorm: Nice proposal to help me. Of course I agree. But what I missed a bit were those noobs who always asked "How do I..." questions. There are usually enough of them. But may be such noobs don't use WIHU which is also great . I think everyone here using WIHU are more or less competent users which is also good. Oh no, that would be bad. There should be an extra creation tool. I know, you are right. That was my initially reason for creating Version 3.0 which was entirely in object oriented way (c++, WTL/ATL) One of the time consuming things was to create new TreeControl which should be at least as capable as current one. It should support riched text, icons and more ... of course Im able to create this, but this would take a long time. It's easier to create such an control from bottom up than reusing windows controls because there are some restrictions by using them. Some things are already done, like resizable property sheet windows (you can find the source on www.codeproject.com in WTL section). Benjamin Kalytta

Hmm, of course it doesn't necessarily mean this, but it is an indication. I think more people would use WIHU if there were an WIHU Ini file creation tool for easy manipulating the ini file. But currently there is no time to create this. Hmm, does it mean, installation done by XPlode is better than WIHU installation routine? If yes, what do you miss in WIHU? No that's not possible as long Windows will detect the drive as formated with known filesystem. Linux drives for example will be detected as unformated! Also broken drives (after big system crash for example) may be deteced as unformated. However in later case your aren't able to access this drive in windows anymore. Benjamin Kalytta

These are test images: Yes, if WIHU detects an unformated mounted drive, it first asks if the user want to format. (MessageBox will close in 10 seconds in /AutoInstall mode btw.) It's for a long time now already finished and integrated in WIHU but it was not activated. Naja, da gibt es noch WPI, auch wenn ich es persönlich etwas kitschig finde und es auch nicht allzugroße Funktionalität hat. Was halt dort vorhanden ist, ist glaube ich die Möglichkeit direkt auch über das Tool neue Dateien usw. einzubinden, d.h. man muss sich nicht durch eine INI Datei wühlen. Ich hatte ja eigentlich auch vorgehabt so ein INI Erstellungstool zu erstellen was die Sache erheblich vereinfacht hätte. Benjamin Kalytta

So I added format feature, I also fixed the bug, please could you verify if it works as expected? Please note: WIHU isn't able to create partitions, or to detect unmounted volumes. Only unformated mounted volumes can be formated. Wie du siehst scheint es wirklich niemanden zu interessieren, also so wie ich es angenommen hatte;) Hier war ja auch eh nichts mehr los im Forum. Hmm, no I think there was another problem. Doing as described by you above is currently possible in WIHU. May be I fixed this some weeks ago when I fixed another shell folder specific bug.

Hi Jackrip5, WIHU may run at T-12 with some restriction at described on my web page. You can create an new account at this time, but it's not possible to install certain software as this account. This is because some services needed for secondary logon isn't running at this time yet. You may use current account to install certain software. In this case each registry changes that are made are saved in Default User profile. If you want install certain software in this new user account you should run WIHU at GuiRunOnce and set /autoinstall=0 to automatize this installation. Then no user interaction is needed. Why would you print this? The manual is a bit outdated now by the way. Benjamin Kalytta
