You might beable to make a workable ISO from that drive and then you can play with it but I wouldn't touch that drive in general. Who knows what could be screwed up if you touch it expecially if you need a reinstall. Those "extra partitions" on drives hold some information that is even critical to the operation of the OS. Seen a few HP's like that, which I though was the oddest thing but it insures as well its not easily going to be ripped off probably. More of an annoyance factor I say, you get a 160Gig drive and you already have 4-5Gig partition which basically is un-usable.
