  3. ..i would be also quite interested how this can be tweaked!
  4. @Astalavista: what exactly does your posting have in common with enabling Remote Assistance during unattended XP Setup?!?!? ..i repeat my request: can i enable the Remote Assistence with a line in the winnt.sif file of RegTweaks.reg ?!?!? thank You in advance
  5. ..hmm, did you test this?! i don't want to enable it only for my user but for all users!
  6. ..sure, sure, but how do i get the adapter ID ?!?! since it's an unattended installation performed on different systems (different hardware) i suppose i cannot generalize this.. or am i wrong?!? ..another question: i use a lot of the regtweaks from this forum on a NON-english XP CD and most of them do not work; is this possible or have i done a mistake of some kind?! thx in advance
  7. ..thanx man! two more questions: * afaik the expression has to be in [brackets], right or wrong?! * how do i get the *ADAPTER*ID* ???
  8. ..hate quoting myself, but still: does anyone know a reg_tweak for disabling the DNS Registration in the TCP/IP menue?!?
  9. ..does anyone know a reg_tweak for disabling the DNS Registration in the TCP/IP menue?!? Thank You
  10. ..could someone say some words about this lines in the winnt.sif please. would really like to know what this are good for (LPDSVC, AutoMode=PerSeat, TSEnable, etc.) Thank You
  11. @SibTiger: did so, but the TMP enviroment variable changed to D:\\temp instead of D:\\Tmp (straaaange..) Another problem is that it was set only local; if i join a domain the variable is set to %USERPROFILE%\Local Setings\Temp. This should be also set to D:\\tmp. Any suggestions?! ..does anyone know a reg_tweak for disabling the DNS Registration in the TCP/IP menue?!? Thank You.
  12. @peachy: well, donnow how You've managed it without a .inf file.. [SETUP] INF_FILENAME = G550W.inf VERSION = Matrox PowerDesk Setup - 5.92.006 LANGUAGE = ENG SILENT = YES REBOOT = NO DISPLAYMODE = 1024,768,32,96 RESET_USER_CONFIG = YES RUN_QDESK = NO RUN_DIAG = NO COPY_ALL_DRIVERS = YES LOGFILE = matrox.log [REGISTRY] User.AGP = 1 Mga.AGPFlags = 04,01,00,00 [TV_STANDARDS] Canada = NTSC France = PAL I'm quite puzzled about this, if a set the INF_FILENAME flag to another driver it won't work, but this way it recognizes ALL Matrox G-Series Cards..
  13. @Professor Frink: tried also withouth the 2 lines of the winnt.sif but same problem.. @Rahbas: there must be a way of achieving an unattended domain login without the netdom.exe don't get me wrong, i will try it out too, but i would prefer to solve this by the winnt.sif file.. @klasika: where sould i look for the event.log?! A little completion: At the login screen, after pressing ctrl+alt+del, i need to switch to the domain i want to log in and by clicking on the field there pops up a `please be patient` dialog telling me that the domainlist is beeing build... well, whatever, after a few minutes i can select my domain (so it seems that somehow the domain was recognized) and it takes again ca.3min for the domainlist beeing rebuild or whatever. After typing the domain password this message pops up: The Network Logon Service was not Started Any suggestions?!
  14. Hello, I need some reg-tweaks for: setting the environmentvariable TEMP and TMP to a specified path (for ex. E:\TEMP and E:\TMP ) Thank You in advance.
  15. Hi, the machines have mostly no multiple NICs but I don't know what You mean by ` binding order` .. neither do I know what effect the flags UseDomainNameDevolution and EnableLMHosts have. Could someone explain it pleeeze. Thank You in advance. 16. ..i've added the winnt.sif i use. maybe someone has a clue about what's going wrong.. winnt.sif
  17. hi, i've experienced a strange behaviour at first startup: the IE desktop icon dosn't have a valid shortcut to the needed path, so i have to enter it manually; does anyone know where the problem could be?! thanx in advance winnt.sif
  18. thanx verramuch ;-) ..now this may work for a system with the specified card BUT how should i manage the INF_FILENAME for more than one card: i have 101 systems with matrox g450 / g550 cards on which i want to perform an unattended install, without checking every single system if it's a 450 or 550 and so on.. is there a possibility of automation?! ps. do i really need the following files: GSeries.cab, Setup.exe, SetupRes.dll ?!
  19. ..thanx. unfortunatly there is no setup.ini file in the unzipped 2kxp_592_006.exe file i've just downloaded from the matrox ftp (driver release for Matrox G200, G200 MMS, G400, G450, G450 MMS and G550) ..please post a link to the matrox forums. thanx.
  20. ..well, the purpose of this xpcd including the drivers is installing the OS on multiple desktops at an institute regardless of the installed hardware. As you can imagine there are different matrox cards, so i have to place all the drivers on the cd! thanx but this does not solve my problem.. yet! ;-)
  21. Hello, I'm using an unattended xpcd to install the XP OS and register the PC automatically to an existing, properly working domain. This are the lines in the winnt.sif: [Identification] JoinDomain=MY_EXISTING_PROPERLY_WORKING_DOMAIN DomainAdmin=Administrator DomainAdminPassword=F_ING_UNENCRYPTED_PWD Problem Description: At first login it takes about 5min to "build the domain list" and then refuses to log in a domain user returning a "The Network Logon Service was not Started" error message! Just btw.: the "build domain list" takes EVERY time about 5min; even if want to select the localhost.. Annex: I'm using a preregistered version of MS WinXP (University License) incl. SP1 Thanks in advance ps. Is there any possibility to encrypt the domain password?!
  22. Hello, I have some problems to report regarding the unattended driver installation; maybe someone can help me. in the folder $OEM$\$1\Drivers\matrox i have the needed driver files for the Matrox graphics card (dualg400.cat DUALG400.inf dualg550.cat DUALG550.inf etc. etc.) and the folder is properly linked in the winnt.sif! WinXP does NOT automatically recognize the device drivers (wich btw are WHQL certified) unless, during the post install, I'm going to specify EXACTLY which .inf file to use! What is going wrong?! Annex: I'm using a preactivated version of the XP CD (University Licence) incl. SP1 I would appreciate any suggestions and/or solutions ;-)
